Many of the articles on GWJ are there to promote reasoned debate as much as anything else. Be sure to check the comments under the article for more viewpoints on the subject. Also, Sean loves Torchlight :p

Prez I recommend staying away from the Blues comments. Most people that post here are so far out of whack they were likely kicked out of No Mutants Allowed and feel the need to spit their venom at every title that ships. Last year was epic in the terms of PC gaming content and I can't recall a single title that wasn't bitched about here.

The NA release included a lot of content not found in the international release. It looks like this patch will bring them closer together.

the reason it still is getting support is because now that it is patched up there is a suprisingly strategic and fun game underneath all the crap. There's not many folks on the east coast playing but it is still quite popular in europe. If you own the game and were jaded by the original release check this out. At the very least you can connect to servers now

ECS Graphics cards. Woo they are gonna rock! I can't wait for the quality I have come to know and love from EliteGroup's motherboards to be transferred to video solutions...

To play Devils advocate here: Its refreshing to see they are adding a new map in the patch and resolving the cartillery and CTD issue, but I've grown to accept the idea of booster packs. The simple fact is that assets simply aren't that easy to develop for games like BF2. Something like Armoured assault which has new vehicles, and some absolutely astounding new maps is really not a bad deal for 10 bucks. It's a substantial improvement over Euro-Force that really brings some great gameplay to the BF2 line (and proper 64 player maps!) The one beef I really have is how bad they've screwed over the mod community due to the ranked servers. Although I imagine once something like Forgotten Hope 2 is released people will leave behind their virtual achievements for some fresh gameplay. Even still, here's hoping Quakewars rocks total, serious ass.

Death To Sequels:

World War 2 online is set up something like that. As you progress in levels (which is done by kills) it unlocks newer tech as well as higher ranking classes like Officer. In fact the entire war effort is led by players who have earned enough experience to direct the ebb and flow of the war. It's cool stuff, and certainly something that could have a place in a WWII combat sim. The thing is I have been spoiled by IL2's unrelenting realism and incredible damage model that Warbirds, even in its latest iteration, does not match Oleg's masterpiece.

I was an early adopter of BF2 and while there has certainly been issues, it has been playable for me since launch. The best way to play BF2 is to build up a decent Xfire list of contacts and stick to moderated servers. The Planetbattlefield server is a good one for good squad play.

lol I was just about to post that as well. The spelling is horrendous. I watched a gameplay vid a while back as well and was let down by the terrible animations. Silent Storm is more Jagged Alliance than this game is.

I'm really hoping this game doesn't suck. Jagged Alliance 2 is damn near the top of my favourite turn-based RPGs. It ranks right up there with Fallout 2, BG2, and Planescape torment

Soldner was so terribly buggy at launch that it was a huge dissapointment. I urge people who have 20 bucks to burn to pick up a copy now and give it a shot again. Patched up its an amazing LAN party experience and there's a few good servers with people playing 'round the clock.

For all you bitching out there in Blues-land. This game is fun. The level of detail and tactile feedback of the islands is astounding. Posting a link to gamerankings then saying it sucks is a good way to make yourself look like a total idiot.

The unreal engine always seems to be a very pretty one to look at, but the "interactivity" of the worlds is generally lacking. I know more interactivity is possible with the engine (see Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory) but the Source engine just "feels" right.

Apparently there's a crippling 1fps bug during online play which has yet to be resolved or even acknowledged that keeps GTR from being a great online racer.

Not going to buy this as after release support has been nonexistant for GTR. SimHQ even fired them an Email asking what's going on but there has been absolutely zero response.

Simbin and 10tacle have screwed themselves over methinks.
