It'll be interesting to see how Death Knights play out. Technically, they're allied with the Scourge... so I guess they can't go to Alliance/Horde cities? It says they're the first Hero class... I wonder what else might come along.

Pirates of the Burning Sea maybe? They were ready to go but just needed a publisher, then about a month ago they signed on with SOE... maybe they're launching that in August.

For some reason, it looks like they once again went the simple route with UT3 like they did with UT2003. Comparing UT2004 to UT3, it looks like they removed Bombing Run, Assault, Double Domination, Invasion, and Mutant (although the last two weren't immensely popular). They changed Onslaught around to Unreal Warfare, which sounds like Onslaught but... bigger.

UT2003 was a bust and not a worthy successor. UT2004, however, was a much better game and is a true sequel... I wish it would have caught on more.

The game plays a bit slower on the console versions, and there is some aiming help...

This is why I'll never go to a console if there are still PC games around.

I think they made a typo, because this:

Needs to be changed to this:

Our third-shift janitor, Pedro, is working all night (after he gets done cleaning the toilets, of course) to narrow down the cause of the problem.

Doom 3 was fun, it really did remind me of old-school Doom with monster-closets, yet kept the feeling new with the new engine and design. It did get a little repetitive, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The game is much more fun when you don't race to 70. I'm still taking my grand ol' time to get there, and enjoying it a lot more.

I'm on one of the opening-day servers, Earthen Ring, and I don't notice too many botters. Sure I see some every now and then, but the server is busy enough with players that I can find a group if I need to but it's not overcrowded.

I agree. Today I talked to a co-worker and he said "The armor looks way too much like Gears of War." and when I told him that Gears of War armor looks a lot like the Unreal Tournament 2004 armor, he goes "Meh, who cares about that."

The big thing is that they revealed the release date of November 2007, which I don't think was mentioned before.

As long as this game has good coop, I'm definitely in. There hasn't been a PC game with legitimate coop (as in, do all the single-player missions with a friend) since Doom.

For those looking for a space-sim:

On the previous BSG post, someone clued me in to "Beyond the Red Line" - a mod using the Freespace 2 source code. Doesn't need FS2 to play, and it is VERY professional. Check out the demo:

Just downloaded and played the demo. FRAKKIING AMAZING!

Very, very professional for a mod. Everything feels like a AAA title. The music is great, and it really makes you feel like you're in the BSG universe. Can't wait for the full version!

On a sidenote though... you know the industry is in a sad state when the only game that you can make a mod like this off of is 10 years old...

Now that I think about it, this is going to be pretty interested. IIRC, Sierra owns the rights to the FEAR name, but Monolith owns the rights to the FEAR characters. I know Monolith is working on a sequel of a different name which the same characters - with this expansion, could Sierra be trying to establish a new set of characters for their OWN upcoming sequel? So we might possibly get two FEAR sequels. Interesting!
