So either learn to aim, or just get point blank before you fire. You take no damage at that distance and no one can escape the blast! Hooray!

The problem is that hiding behind a corner and bouncing grenades off walls into SGs was a great tactic to get rid of them. Now the grenades will go right through them and might not even hit them. This just made SGs even MORE overpowered.

Has anyone else seen any performance decrease with this patch? Before this patch I was running at a solid FPS, but now it gets choppy in busy areas. Nothing has changed except for this patch. Any ideas?

I LOVED the original Team Fortress. Playing the Rock map and trying to escape the gas was one of my fondest memories of Quake gaming. Tried getting into TFC, but didn't like it for some reason... it just didn't feel the same.

In any case, I was kind of disappointed when Rock wasn't included in TF2. Hopefully it will get added in!

I wish people would stop comparing this to TFC. It is NOT A SEQUEL TO TFC. It is a sequel to TF.

On that note, here are my opinions:

-Game is amazing. The style is great and awesome fun. Very fast paced.
-Really really really wish they would have included Rock in the maps, but oh well. Hopefully on release or after.
-Pyro seems useless compared to other classes. You have to get VERY close and hit them for a while to kill them, especially up against a class like a heavy.

Everything else feels just right!

Once you start playing, it will suck... but after you get used to the classes, objectives, etc, it will be a LOT better. I only wish they had included VOIP and better fireteam options.

And for those that are complaining about graphics, make sure you set your Lighting Quality to HIGH - otherwise it will look like shit.

Every single movie of this game looks "meh" to me. And not to mention it seems like ALL of the weapons seem to have some sort of area effect or autoaim. And then they're charging this kind of stuff for it.. sorry, it looks like an average game at best, and average games don't deserve subscriptions.

I always thought it was that Sierra/Vivendi owns the FEAR name but not the characters/story, while Monolith owns the characters and story but not the FEAR name, hence why they had to change it.

What does that matter? When they start selling a new version, they can stop selling the old one if retailers truly didn't want different SKUs.

Collector's Editions are generally sold out before they hit the shelves, or do not last very long with the limited runs.

I don't believe that, I see collector's editions on the shelves every time when I go to Gamestop.

Uhh huh, like they have a problem with sales. For retail, it makes sense to only have 1 package. They've given users a way to gift/sell the HL2 & Ep1 from the Orange Box to other people. They didn't have to do that, and I bet any other developer/publisher wouldn't have bothered.

It doesn't matter if "they have a problem with sales" or not. It doesn't matter how much profit a company is making, they will always try to get more. They've given users a way to give away the games they already have to save face. But right now the only option for gamers who already have HL2/EP1 is to a) go and buy the more expensive Orange Box (which makes Valve more money), or b) buy the separate versions through Steam (with increases the profit margin for Valve). It's a win-win situation for Valve.

"Resistance from retailers" my ass. How come I can go in and find THREE different boxed versions of Battlefield 2? How come I can go and buy Bioshock, but also buy the collector's edition that is almost three times the depth and takes up more shelf-space? Sorry Gabe, but Valve just wanted to make more money, so they cancelled the Black Box. Don't blame it on the retailers, we all know the reason.

Edit: The introduction of the plasmids was horribly flawed from a story perspective, but whatever. We all know that's the point of the game, but Generically-Named 2K Developer should have still made a story element for injecting it.

Seconded. When I played the demo and got to the part with the first plasmid, I was waiting on a cue to tell me what to do with it (even though I already knew). They could have worked on that part... because I knew if I just walked through a scary, unusual and creepy underwater city and I saw a syringe with a bright glowing liquid inside of it, the first thing I would think of would NOT be to shove it in my wrist and see what happens.

They could have fixed it by just having Atlas say something like "Yeah brother, see that thing right there? Trust me - poke yourself and you'll feel right as rain." Just SOMETHING to prompt me to use it.

The demo was fun, but it wasn't outright amazing like everyone was making it out to be. Might be innovative and all that on the console side, but on the PC side it's been done before. What dismayed me from the start was in the beginning when you're floating in the ocean after the plane crash, the water textures look obviously tiled and once you get to the building, you can see the end of the map and the water just STOPS - and it's only about 20-30 yards from the edge of the building. Unrealistic and kind of mood-breaking. Reminds me of something I would see out of Doom or something.

Anyone know how to change anti-aliasing and all that jazz? In the demo at least I didn't see any controls for it. Maybe a config file?

Game seems fun, but I hate how consolized it is. Why can't developers design a slightly better UI for PC gamers? At least just a smaller one.

Are they abandoning their hopes for C&C to be the next big "RTS sport"? That bombed after their whole multiplayer setup was fucked.

Although I have dislike for EA and the multiplayer is sub-par, the single-player game was pretty immersive and the game itself was fun. Took me back to the semi-realistic Tiberian Dawn days and away from the weird Tiberian Sun (cyborgs? walkers replacing tanks?) days.
