Yeah I found sub level 30 to be grindy and well, boring. The quests were boring and not voice acted. There was talk that it rewards exploration but I didn't see much of that. I want to like it or find something fun about it but didn't, and I don't care that much for crafting either. Spend a couple hours working to craft a weap or something might be fun, or not. But I liked reading Trev's post too.

some of these comments seemed to emphasize freedom for consumers while others advocated freedom for ISPs, two positions seemingly at odds with one another.

Only at odds if the duopoly is allowed to continue. Once much more open competition is allowed then freedom for ISP's would include freedom for new ISP's to offer non-prioritized traffic and possibly out-compete the monopolistic dinosaur ISP's we have now.

All that said, the I still think issue has been blown well out of proportion. The N.N. issue is bordering on mass hysteria.

Yes your future game will turn you in to the FBI Online Game Enforcement Center should it deem your behavior deviant. Militarized eff bee eye police in black nazi helmets will bust your door down, taze you, pepper spray you, shoot your dog and then hold you for questioning. Murica!!

Seriously though, this is entirely the WRONG entity to even approach or have involved in this sort of poor game behavior deterrent. Really, I think these devs are ignorant to the actual nature of whom they're building this sort of relationship. I can't stress this enough that it's terrible nazi-sounding PR.

Reagan was a moderate, but I believe he had to surround himself with power hungry neocons to even get in office, let alone stay there.

Side note: a cousin of mine was one of his advisers and I got a private tour of the oval office and other restricted areas in '86. Personal info 'reveal of the day' complete.

And perhaps as a surprise to an American who spent time in the UK, their own variances of spoken English are even greater than ours here. So it's all sort of moot.

One can easily obsess about language usage, but it's mostly obsessive compulsive thinking why someone can get so worked up about it especially in a more casual online setting. As if there aren't more pressing issues in the world, lets get worked up over this too!

Wait, what? Wholly rigged is exactly what we have now. That's some sort of reverse argument because you're saying something entirely different is the same as what we have now.

Consumer choice is a much more powerful regulator than a federal bureaucracy that follows laws written by big media corporations who control the lobby.

While I agree that N.N. is Marxist, I also believe the duopoly is fascist. Neither are good. Yes, the feds would love to have more regulatory authority over the Internet via Net Neutrality and I don't think much good would come of it. Rather most Federal intervention/regulation would be a string of failed promises that would go unrealized by the public but instead blamed on capitalism and not the failures fascism or marxism.

The most powerful regulator of the Internet should be consumer choice and not government-granted monopolistic consumer-gouging deals.

The very notion that more government control of the Internet would solve it is laughable. We need less, not more. The socialist mindset that is conditioned into children by our school system and TV news by default thinks that whenever government fails we must need more government regulation. Thus our current situation.

So now what happens if there's a protest in CA? I bet they shut your phones off if you're anywhere near it. That way the police can shoot you at their sole discretion and get away with it. Good thing CA is so pro-gun ownership so the people can defend themselves against globalist corporate controlled tyranny. Oh wait..

Yeah Amazon > Google here. Awesome. I hope Twitch can get a lot more bandwidth soon, too. This should help fund it. Their network is pushed to the limit too often (seems that way anyway).

Well IMO it's not just lobby money but corporations using government to give themselves advantage in the marketplace. Or in this case, destroying competition when fair competition would not do the same. It's corporate socialism, not just lobby money. You'll never stop money influencing government policy, but you CAN limit the power of government to take these sorts of actions over time by limiting the power of government in the first place.

It's a great FPS. I just found the inventory gamepad centered UI to be very frustrating. That said I don't understand most of the hate for the game. They did a great job with BL2. It was a big improvement over BL1 I thought. So what it's not a graphical wonder. It's fun and they got so much else right with the genre.

There are solutions to remove corporate money from politics. How? One is via constitutional amendment. "But you'll never get that through congress! They're already bought and paid for!" There's a back door way using the (less compromised) state legislatures to call for a constitutional convention to achieve it. Read about it here, or listen to Dan Carlin's interview of Cenk Uyger. The other way is via electing congress people to implement campaign finance reform. Harvard law professor Lawrence Lessig's Mayday PAC is trying to do just that.

If I may please.. There is another perhaps better way. That is, don't believe the promises of politicians that use rosy rhetoric that the government is going to solve our problems. The corporations need us to be complicit with their agenda so they dress it up in leftist socialist rhetoric. They aren't honest as to the real intent. There are many examples of this. The healthcare issue is a prime example. It was largely written by the insurance industry (as I understand it). We are being deceived so they can create of a modern mercantile empire, or a corporate socialist system.

So what we want is decentralization. But not just any kind.. The kind where there is no cronyism involved. But I agree with you that the big corporations having too much political power is a real issue. I just don't think that any amendment is going to solve it since that would only amount to a promise from the same people doing it.

edit: the article in question is a perfect example. It's dressed up as protecting us from phone theft but can easily be used to implement tyranny to quell dissent of corporate controlled government.

News Comments > Crytek to Repair Reputation with "Really High Quality Games"
    22. Re: Crytek to Repair Reputation with Aug 19, 2014, 13:09 LittleMe

The headline reminds me that talk is cheap.

It was Crysis 1 that tainted my opinion of them because the multiplayer was supported so poorly. Then they promised more with Warhead with the MP being separated from the single player game and again they failed to support it (and keep hackers out). The multiplayer had a lot of potential but it just wasn't finished and polished to perfection, imo.

They could have become a real competitor too DICE's Battlefield series, but... no. I'm thinking like any modern multiplayer game, where they absolutely require patching out the hacks and polishing gameplay to keep the player base thriving and interested.
