Now, whilst I don't quite share his disdain, I do agree heartily with the part I bolded. Yes, the game is nice to look at but it's not what true CRPG fans want. I'm just afraid that we won't see anymore hardcore(ish) major titles that will be made for us as it's all about pandering to the largest crowd for money now. I suspect that they'll probably do this with the next Fallout game too. Sigh. I dunno. Maybe it's time to find a new hobby.

The part you bolded was the only part of substance. The rest was just an angry ego rant/attack. He's looking for Morrowind and can't find it in Skyrim. Duh, it's a different game. I think the game has just as much or more RPG depth. It was just implemented in different ways. I'm sure there are aspects that Skyrim has that Morrowind does not.

I could type a hypothetical rant saying how angry I am at Bethesda for making Morrowind and that it should at least match up to Skyrim. God what shitty combat, terrible god-awful animations, terrible hideous NPC faces, boring repetitive interiors, etc etc.... Bethesda should jump off a cliff after making Morrowind. And wtf, the sounds are hideous. The user interface in Morrowind is even worse than Skyrim. I could go on..

Does anyone know how to make children killable using the toolkit? If there is a mod that allows that a link would be great too. Thanks!

yes there's a mod at http://www.skyrimnexus.com/index.php

not too hard to find. Only a handful of mods so far.

Uh, the UI in Oblivion was 100 times better than this. You could actually click on everything. What you can click on in Skyrim's UI seems completely inconsistent. It's really, really terrible.
...

Also, the game runs like ass for me. The only way to get 60 FPS is to use the lowest detail settings. I'm hoping this is just another case of crappy ATI drivers.

The pirate version has inconsistent behavior in the UI where clicks don't register and such... Retail UI is smooth and fast. Takes about three hours to get used to the UI, then it's not too bad. My guess main gripe is there's no compare feature for items.

Performance is great on my ATI card. Latest drivers. 3rd person seems better. First person seems to sometimes skip and stutter sometimes more than others.

This is the best RPG I've played in, like.... A very long time.

Doing this helps mouse control also:

APPLY to SkyrimPrefs.ini \Users\[Username]\My Documents\My Games\Skyrim directory. -

bMouseAcceleration=0
fForegroundMouseAccelBase=0
fForegroundMouseAccelTop=0
fForegroundMouseBase=0
fForegroundMouseMult=0

Just got back from grabbing a coffee and took a look at my local Gamestop. It had several dozen people waiting for the midnight sale. And I'm thinking, they must be console players because why on earth wouldyou wait in line in the cold to buy a PC copy and have the priviledge of paying taxes on it - which we don't online. So that's one up for PC gamers.

Oh yeah.. I did the midnight F:NV launch and was the only PC gamer out of ~25 people. I mentioned FO3 modding was da shit and the guy I was talking to turned away and it wasn't my breath (that day) that did it. Gamestop employees made a big scene about my getting the PeeCee version, announcing it out loud so that everyone could hear it. I wore it with pride.

Skyrim is the best Elder Scrolls game yet, imo. The animations, responsiveness, etc all nicely done.

1. Identity theft marketplace sells mothers' maiden names, dates of birth, etc Nov 9, 2011, 21:26 LittleMe

Just showing that the identification system we use is woefully out of date. It worked in the 1950's but come on... SS#, DoB, names, places, planets -- are all passwords and are inadequate and unnecessary ways to identify someone. Let me guess, instead of revamping the system, the feds will wage a new (and profitable) war on identity theft.

Wow, let's just totally make shit up! I got it: it has a built in toaster.

wtf are you talking about? The 360 was a toaster. The little red circular light let you know it was done.

2. Re: Skyrim DLC Will Be Nov 7, 2011, 22:11 LittleMe

You are riding your horse in hostile lands, hundreds of creatures looking at both of you thinking how easy prey you are. There's nothing, nothing, protecting your naked horse from the vile inhabitants. What are you going to do now? Oblivion had this problem solved, lock stock & barrel. Now instead of paying $5 for the best armor ever, we have to pay $10 for lots more things just so we can keep our stallion safe? $10 DLC to make the game better with so many game improvements and we have to keep track of them by reading a feature list that is more than two words ("horse armor")? I miss the good old days of '06!

Nice price on Morrowind, too bad it's on gamestop.

Yea, Impulse version uses a custom Morrowind.exe that makes some game modding impossible such as the Morrowind Overhaul - Sound & Graphics.

Yeah good review JaguarUSF! Well said and I agree with the 8/8 BF3 earns. Don't forget the TOW and mines for anti vehicles, not just rpg's & C4.

Apparently, they all had the same designer. There were a couple that were over the top gorgeous but it was storyline related dungeons, not side quests.

They've said they had a team of eight people making dungeons.

Here's another one I found on a forum:

Go to my documents/battlefield 3/settings and open up PROF_SAVE_profile

To turn off the sun glare, set Gst.Render Enlighten to 0, if you wish to lower the contrast, lower GstRender.Contrast a bit, same goes for GstRender.Brightness

Yeah this one is definitely the worst with maybe the exception of 1942 on release. I followed two guys in a jeep in my own jeep and once they stopped I switched to the gunner position and lit their gunner up for a good 20 seconds. I couldn't figure out why he wasn't dying, the whole time he is searching for me even looking right at me and not seeing me. Finally I get shot in the back of the head and my death cam shows my jeep 100 feet in front of his. It was very strange, because I wasn't lagged out, I could see all the activity in front of me just fine.

What you describe sounds like an uplink disconnect to the server. You were receiving data from the server alright, but your packets might not have been getting back to the server. My advice for you is to consider this an issue with the particular server you are playing on and try another.

BF3 seems to hide network problems so that people don't "feel" the lag as they play. Instead it hides the lag and this shows up in very strange ways, just as you describe. All games can do is try to hide lag, but there are bad gameplay consequences for trying to hide lag. It's possible a future update can alleviate some or most of this.

Getting laggy "around the corner" deaths and rubber banding in BF3? I suggest playing on another server (but that still might not completely fix the issue).

The lag and rubber-banding is pretty ridiculous most of the time, it is rare that I find a server with none. It seems to be the worst on Tehran Highway.

Yeah there's the rubber banding and then there's the equally bad lag deaths when I'm already around the corner but taking hits anyway because the person shooting me is lagged. It means the client is dominant, not the server. It's a way to hide lag and it sacrifices gameplay for those of us with low pings. BF3 is much worse than BF2 in this regard. IIRC even BC2 didn't behave like this.
