Man I am sure glad I didn't buy this game. I was tempted but I didn't give in.

Instead i downloaded and installed Point of Existence 2 for BF2. While there's no ranks or unlocks, the gameplay is there.
Basically it's BF2 done right.

Oh and don't download the torrent version. There's something wrong with it.

An interesting idea, too bad Acclaim is the one heading this up. It will no doubt end up being a POS.

Can anyone comment on the CoD 2 multiplayer? I might pick it up just for a multiplayer fix.

Somewhere between DoD:S and BF2 there is CoD2. The gameplay is much faster and sorta feels "deathmatchy" like DoD. One thing I don't like is the number of people who abuse the voice features to be irritating and vulgar. This is contrast to BF2 voice which just rarely gets used.

CoD2
+Stable
+Good looking
+Fun
+Large Installed Base
-Less Tactical than BF2
-Tons of morons(more than BF2)

Aside from the connection issue there are quite a few other issues plauging the demo. While the game looks great the numerous bugs and the mod-like feel of the game point to limited resources being put into fixing the game. After all this is an intermin product just like BF:V was.

I can't even get damn game to run for more than 10 minutes without CTD or disconnecting. So really I'm just not impressed. I think a BF2 teammate of mines but it well when he said that while he's a huge fan of the BF series he simply can justifying paying full price (40-50 dollars)for what is essentially a buggy mod. I agree.

So what is going to happen? Well Betafield 2.142 is going to sell like BF:V, some people with buy into EA's BS and most others will continue to play BF2.

The destruction of this company is not enough to make up for the travesty that was Enter The Matrix.

EA is going to grind this series into the ground just like they did with Medal of Honor.

The good news is that this sends a clear signal to other publishers that games like Battlefield 2 are valuable propeties and will seek to establish their own.

Continuing to use MoH as an example, you'll find that Call of Duty would have never been a viable product for Actvision if not for MoH.

The bottom line is, expect more BF2 like products from other publishers.

I still love Civ 1 the most. I'm assuming that this will be a XP version. If so I am sold.

Unless these ads mean a cheaper game for me (e.g. under 30 USD) I think I will pass on BF2142.

Now all we need a really ambitious developer to actually make a BF2 style game and do it right and but the final nail in the coffin of EA/Dice

I too played this tech demo and was entranced by it. Matter of fact everyone I've shown the game to has had only one bad thing to say about it; that it is not a "full" game.

Is anyone REALLY surprised at this news? I wonder...has Valve ever kept a ship date? In the end I don't really mind if it's a quality release. Whenever Valve quotes a ship date I always tack on 6 months. :>

Nice to see your opinion with absolutely nothing to back it up. It's like saying Half-Life 2 sucks and then NOT giving any reasons why.

I think the dedication to this game is due mostly to how cool the whole Vampire universe is. There is so much potential to be tapped, so much backstory to be revealed and this game was just a glimpse. I really hope there are other Vampire games but given the fiscal failure of the last two, I doubt that will happen.

I'm sure at some point there will be an MMO. Anyways, I love this game, anyone who enjoyed System Shock and Deus Ex will probably enjoy this game. I have the 2.5 patch installed and find these unofficial patches well worth installing.

To support the upcoming launch of the highly anticipated MMORPG ArchLord,

Highly Anticipated? By who? How can a game be "highly anticipated" if I've never heard of it?

I've been playing this since it was a mod on UT2004, and this is one of the best combat games out there. If you are into realistic combat games this should not be missed. I think anyone who liked Operation Flashpoint Multiplayer will enjoy this game's realism.

I also like the game's balance, there's always a finite number of people that can be various classes so team work is a must!

One thing that hasn't been praised enough is the Tanks only portion of the game, whch is quite popular. it's realistic without being difficult to control. So fans of mechnized combat should also check this out.

"The merge would increase the server population greatly and offer the players a much more satisfying and diverse gameplay experience."

The merge would increase the server population from three to five.

The only idiot is YOU.

1. Players not in a squad will not accumulate any points until they are in a squad.

What a dumb idea. If people on the server you play on don't play in squads, maybe you need to play somewhere else.

2. The team that does not win does not receive any points at the end of the round.

Strike 2! Thank god you aren't a game designer...or maybe you are and you are the man responsible for Superman 64. With ideas like that you could take the fun out of any game.

3. Optional server side swtich which allows the commander to force players into squads.

4. AT Characters Eryx/AT weapon now has two modes. Anti armor with limited guidance. Anti Air which only follows heat signatures (meanin you can only fire at the rear) of air vehicles.

Wow, these ideas aren't bad. Number 3 is a great idea. Number 4 would be better if you had a choice between your AT weapon or an AA weapon.

5. Claymores range has been reduced to 3 feet from 20 feet.

6. Engineers and Snipers can disarm and reclaim claymores.

Here's a better fix...how about you stop whining and watch where you step?

7. Anti Air bunkers can now fire 4 missiles rather than 2.

That's another easy fix. How about you learn to AIM?

8. Anti Air tank now can drop smoke, missile ammo has increased X2, machine gun NOW SIGNIFICANTLY HURTS AIR UNITS!

9. Blackhawk and all choppers side machine gun accuracy has increased from 0 to 100. Armor is still relatively weak on these transports.

These have easy fixes too. Like learning to aim and learning to use your squad.

Man talk about whining. Next thing you know you'll be complaing about the pistols being too accurate...

Seems like there's a lot of angry teenagers commenting on BF2. First, there's couple of people complaining about not being able to exploit an in game mechanic anymore, that mechanic being spawning on your squad leader. You can't do this anymore if you have just joined the squade, you have to die once. This prevents squad cycling, which is leaving and rejoining a squad as squad leader to respawn on someone else in that squad. That's not teamwork that's exploiting. Just like bunny hopping and dolphin diving.

There's also someone complaining about having reinstall the patch after installing the SF expansion. Duh. You think the patch is gonna magically appear on the SF expansion? No, when you install SF, you need to reinstall the current update.

EA did screw up with this latest patch, but not amount of patches will fix the Alpha Hotels that plauge this game with their incessent whining. BTW, if you are having problems with the 1.3 patch, try installing the FULL patch over the incremental one. It's worked for me and it will work for you!

However you are overlooking a big problem. This is the beginning of the en for a PC as a viable gaming platform. Sure it may/will take a few years, but don't be surprised if in the next 3-5 years PC's are very niche for games. I think the consoles will become more PC like, offering services and applications that people use 95% of the time.

People have been saying this for years and yet, PC games have yet to go away. There will always be developers for the PC because there are no sepcial dev kits you need to buy or special licences to sell your product.

Wow, I'm overjoyed to hear that we won't be punished with yet another WWII FPS. This makes Infinity Ward's next project all that more sweet.

The game's single player really blows. The AI is extremely poor and it's near impossible control your team effectively. Quite often they will stand in the middle of the street and not return fire because the enemy is ignoring that team member.

All that being said multiplayer might be better. The maps and scenarios themselves are quite good, it's just the AI that just ruins the game.
