I almost quit playing the DDO beta entirely, but I log on to check out the changes they make each patch, and the game has just been getting worse and worse imo.

They have been phasing out the unique action game style combat every patch since the game entered beta phase, that was the only thing that made the game kind of fun to play once in a while. Now they are just going to have boring combat to go along with the boring content you have to repeat a million times.

It seems like most MMO's, they had plans to be different and try new things, then the closer it gets to release the more cookie cutter everything becomes. The problem is the game will finally get released with combat systems that arent very tested for balance or fun and they will be pretty much stuck with it.

Leveling feels so slow that with the repeated content and how long it takes to even get a few of the talents or spells you want you really just don't feel like starting over, and you end up quitting the game after a month or 2. I played for like 2 weeks to get to level 7 (10 is the max) and ran out of dungeons that would still give good exp (you get penalized for repeating dungeons even though it's a necessity.)

It's true people read beta and think it means demo or free game. Almost as annoying are the fanboys who use the word beta to defend every flaw in a game. I'm looking forward to trying this out, hope they didn't screw it up.

RF Online also has nearly identical models to L2, it's just like EQ was over here, the biggest name so every game that comes out tries to emulate it.

These korean games always look fairly good, but play like shit, I think it's because they are designed for the insane Korean powergamers. I wonder how many more of these will be announced by codemasters.

No job, no money, no friends, but at least I can become the ARCH LORD! Cower before me you 3 other guys who play the game!

Codemasters wussed out of releasing their own MMO, so now they just buy cheap korean ones in hopes that something will magically gain popularity in the US. Unfortunately they are probably all just clones of Lineage 2, a game that deserves to be looked at by Amnesty International.

They are right though, my imagination has been captured, I keep imagining how horrible this game must be.

Sometimes you wish you could report posts on here... really uncalled for and extremely poorly written for someone who wants to bash other peoples writing.

Anyway, militia! This is cool, and they aren't even charging 10 bucks for new maps yet!

Removing the goggles from Sam in some missions was a big decision for us

Jesus christ, and we wonder why there's no innovation in gaming today. How pathetic.

"Uh I don't know, if we remove the goggles the kids might get confused and say WHAT? HE DOESNT HAVE GOGGLES ON THERE, THIS MUST BE A DIFFERENT GAME I'M NOT BUYING IT!"

Well the first time I ran it the game crashed my computer for the first time in about 7 months, had to dust off the reset button on my case. So I rebooted and the next time the game ran, though for some reason the sound levels all default to 0.

Game seemed kind of budgety, but maybe it's better with sound.

Who decided to make enemies turn the crosshair green and friendlies turn it red? First thing I did was shoot a bunch of my own guys in the traditional American soldier white jumpsuit outfit, before realizing red meant friendly.

There is a simple solution, don't buy the games. It's not like EA would be putting out some super awesome original game if it wasn't putting resources into yet another sequel, so why worry about it.

Oh and Grenade Dodger '05... I mean CoD2 was the biggest disappointment of the year, so tedious and boring... rrrgh... why! WHY! First one was so good!

If you are really hoping for any online game with more than like 10 people playing it to have any actual roleplaying I've got some bad news. (Unless you mean the pathetic guys cybering each other on 'roleplaying' servers)

I personally think it's impossible to create a game that someone could play for months for 20+ hours a week and not have it get old, the same "advancement" that keeps people playing is the thing that eventually annoys them into quitting. We all want a game we can log on and have something new and exciting every time, but it's not realistic.

On the other hand, intentional and excessive timesinks have got to go, I can understand some time to level and all that but some games you have to spend 2 hours traveling before you even start doing what you want to do and that's pretty ridiculous. Other games just force you into 'farming' gold or whatever and that's so boring to most players that the billion dollar virtual money trading industry was created.

So anyway um... grind? I guess?

I like when the demo doesnt just have the first level or 2 from the game, usually if the demo is long enough playing through that part again is kind of annoying if you get the full game.

Going to try this once it finishes downloading, it's funny that 20 minutes to download 340mb seems like so long now... I don't know what I'd do if I had to go back to dialup.

So the "hip hop lifestyle" consists of... murder, murder, and more murder? I wonder who the 'new audience' is?

Guys lets bring the hiphop lifestyle of "guns and bitches" to 13 year old white kids who otherwise might never get to experience the thrill of murdering their own rival drug dealer!

Why Sam I do say that's a capital idea! We can have all these young negroes killing each other, that's what the kids are into these days! Then we can make sure they know it's FRESH and IN YOUR FACE by licensing some music that my son tells me is "totally dope!" It can't fail! This just might be the new "XTREME" we've been looking for!

The game doesn't really bother me at all, it's this guys attitude I find disgusting. Now all the morons can eat this crap up so these ignorant racists can make millions.

If you buy just Factions you will have access to all of the characters, but not the explorable areas, missions, and quests from the original game.

Heh ok, guess I'm a little paranoid after SOE's "optional" expansions... you know, you have the option to shell out 40 bucks or quit the game... I wonder how long it will be before the bundle version comes out.

Why not include it? It falls under the general news spec. that typically get reported on this site.

This, class, is what we call "missing the point."

Am I the only one who was really completely disappointed with CoD2? I had to force myself to finish it, and after I did I felt like it wasn't worth it AT ALL. There were only like 2 maps that were exciting and intense, most of it was boring and extremely repetitive.

Not to mention the new health system made the game seem completely retarded, and the grenade indicator was just an excuse to have grenades being thrown every half a second without too much crying from the players.

Oh wait, they have The Movies listed under GOTY, I thought this was a serious post at first.

One thing I don't get, supposedly you will be able to buy chapter 2 without needing chapter 1...

but chapter 2 only has 2 classes, right? And they can try to pretend that won't disadvantage you?

Maybe I just missed something here. Probably still going to try it out, can't believe they still want $50 for the original game though.... unlikely that I will be impressed enough by the games progress since beta to spend 100 bucks to get playing between the chapters. Ok who am I kidding no way in hell I'd spend $100 on it.

Is it post count day at the space captain residence?

Maybe a few years after STO is released we can have cheesy TV ads informing us of how easy and fun it is to become part of the star trek universe where what you do CONTROLS THE STORY!*

*note: you do not actually have any control over the story whatsoever, nor is the game easy or fun, BUY BUY BUY!
