13. problem Dec 11, 2007, 20:47 skyguy

I installed the drivers. I just am now finishing bioshock, and everything was going fine. Then I got to the Fontaine level, and there were horrible glitches with black spots flashing all over the screen accompanied by split second slowdowns. Since its the first time I made it to this level I don't know if the problem existed in previous drivers... its exists now though.

5. Re: Anyone know.. Dec 7, 2007, 09:29 skyguy

yes the patch should work with all downloadable versions of the game. Just overwrite your "vampire" subfolder with the one included in the archive.

By the way, this patch adds tools to enable widescreen mode.

hey PHJF, did you find out any more about the vista/portal/rear speakers problem you were having? I'm having the same issue but everyone else says it works fine:

under Vista? What sound card are you using? I'm in a quad speaker setup so I wonder if 4 vs 5.1 makes a difference.

And update the GeForce 7 Go drivers already dammit, it's been over a year for those

You're going to be waiting forever if you want official drivers. What you want to do is download whatever geforce 7 series drivers you want (this beta, the latest stable, whatever), then go to laptopvideo2go.com and download the modded inf file for your driver version and OS. They have a modded inf file for just about every driver and OS combination you can think of.

Actually you should probably download the driver itself from laptopvideo2go.com as well as the modded inf... they distribute the driver as a .zip instead of an .exe so its more easily modable.

wow you're right, I'm not getting any audio from my rear channels either. I guess I didn't notice cause I'm not too interested in ep2 or tf2 and I'm playing Portal on my laptop. Now I gotta go change all my settings to 2 speakers so I don't miss any sounds...

Just a quibble, PCI-X is not the same thing as PCI-E:

I agree that peripheral manufacturers are moving way too slowly towards PCI-E though.

Jesus dude you don't need to destroy every hard drive that you've ever owned. Just use something like boot and nuke before you give it away:

3. Re: No subject Sep 19, 2007, 13:41 skyguy

yes, lots of stuff has been "unlocked" or otherwise added. Look at the changelog for this version on "The Patches Scrolls", just in this version alone:

Reconstructed Bertram's pc and incooperated text of unused emails.
Added inaccessible Blood Heal and Blood Buff infos to loading tips.
Restored over twenty unused lines for several NPCs, thanks to mzz.

I scored 96% on the computer nerdery, less than 30% on everything else. I was a "low high nerd" or something weird like that... I just figured it called me a "high nerd" 'cause I answered yes to the question about Carl Sagan smoking pot.

We're talking about the Stanley Kubrick movie right? I really like it. I'm not a sci-fi maniac though. You guys aren't the ones plastering random Battlestar Galactica facts all over wikipedia articles, are you?

13. Re: Steam Aug 28, 2007, 22:16 skyguy

I'm playing through as a female malk right now, actually I'm almost finished with it. I admit, the tuna and the chef joke was pretty funny, as is all the dialogue, but one thing I seem to be missing that everyone talks about is the hearing of voices. I've heard maybe 4 or 5 whispers the whole game, and each time its too soft to make out what's being said. Do you have to be really low on humanity to hear a lot of voices or what?

As far as I know the patches work fine with the Steam version of the game, just extract and overwrite directories as normal. Maybe have steam backup the local game content first just to be on the safe side.
