Eh, I was really into the whole QL idea when it first opened and envisioned my regular gaming group getting into it and making it a regular part of our weekly gaming routine, but the few times we tested it early on, we had lots of trouble getting into an
empty server with *just us*, and then being able to keep it just us, with no random strangers crashing our party and messing it all up.
But someone would be a few seconds late getting in or maybe lose connection for a minute (there were a lot of bugs back then, not sure if that's changed by now) and bam, Uber Lifers always jumped in and started ordering us around and owning everyone. Constantly having to kick people was a hassle, so in the end, it just all wasn't worth the effort. We split, planning to return when they added private, PW-protected servers (which they kept saying they were going to do "soon".
Nail in the coffin was when I heard they were
finally about to add them--but that they'd be a "premium" option, for paying customers only. No thanks. We wrote QL off our list then and there. I understand they need to fund this some way, but early on they promised it would all be ad-based and that QL would always be FREE to play. In tough times like these, none of us are in any mood to pay cash money for something like this when we can all just reinstall Q3 if we ever
really want to play this old game that bad.
