I don't understand the need to do all these modern remakes anyway. XIII had cel shaded graphics, they should've aged quite well! Why not make the missing sequel? All these remakes are looking to me like cheap cash grabs, like we don't need to actually create a new game, we just polish an old one and get money for almost nothing...
The best (and possibly only good) reason would be if the original game has issues running on modern systems.

Out the box - yes, XIII Classic is okay on GOG version, which has been fixed-up a bit. Not ideal, IMHO - as it's tougher to full-screen and get the FPS smooth.

To get it perfect for me, I had to do this:
1. Use a XIII+ Fan-Patch first...
2. And then implement & configure DGVoodoo (a DX wrapper for DX9.0 and older, as this is an older game) just to get the FPS smooth on W10 basically (locked at 60fps).

Glad to see that issue fixed w/ Shadow of the TR.

Does this hot-fix drive fix only those issues?
B/c I'm still having issues galore here on W10 w/ Gears 4 PC.

Yeah, at least ES: Blades is for...well, everything - mobile, consoles, and PC.

I think things would've helped quite a bit if Blizzard actually announced Diablo: Immortal will also come to PC.

Unless they're also going to port RDR1, is there any point in getting RDR2?

Who knows if we'll ever get RDR1 natively on PC.

See this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=4&v=YZ11gHIJKj4

Take this all with a grain of salt, of course.

Supposedly, the RDR1 code was a mess, not documented much, and they customized the RAGE Engine majorly for those 2 consoles at that time w/ that game. More or less, they made a RAGE Engine Fork for that game alone for the consoles.

They (Rockstar) would have to port RDR1 content over to newer PC-friendly versions of RAGE Engine (those games on that engine since Max Payne 3, more or less) and remaster the game entirely.

If they decide to remaster it or hopefully hire someone else whose good at remastering to remaster it, that might be the only way we get RDR1 PC natively. I would love to see this happen, to be honest.

Only other way we might ever seen RDR1 come here, is probably if Microsoft or Sony officially allow emulation of their older consoles (PS3 and X360) and those console games on the PC.

With Xbox Pass coming to PC and Sony PS Now on PC, maybe we'll see more old-console emulation on PC supported? Maybe they'll also allow some games to be sold alone as emulated on PC, so we can actually own them here?

I dunno, who knows. [shrug]

Pricing:
http://starwars.ea.com/starwars/battlefront/buy

$60 for SW:BF Base-Game only.
$70 for SW:BF Base-Game Deluxe Ed.
$50 for Season Pass.
$120 for Ultimate Edition (SW:BF Base-Game Deluxe Ed. + Season Pass).

Yeah, I'll wait for it to brick down quite a bit before I purchase.

Who the heck wants to install 30+ GB games from on a ridiculous # of DVD's?

Well seeing as how that's what we did with floppies and cds...

And people on Google fiber probably don't give a shit, but on my terrible connection it's much faster to write from a disc than to download anything.

But wouldn't you rather have it on say one thumb-drive or a Blu-Ray than multiple-DVD's?

Who wants to deal w/ disc-switching on the install? Bleh.

I'm sure everybody prefers having their games on disc.

But, for those who are well-connected and like the excellent sales we often get here digitally - retail is a waste to even think of. Only time retail might be worth while to us is when a game is on major clearance and/or blow-out sale.

Problem seems to be, especially on the PC, at retail is that they keep sticking them on DVD's. That's especially even worse for the bigger-sized games. Who the heck wants to install 30+ GB games from on a ridiculous # of DVD's? What I'd do if they did the above that is just take my retail copy and if it connects to a service (like Steam, Origin, UPlay, etc) - I'll just let it do the download and go do something else for a while like watch a movie, TV show, or something else.

It's time PC retail starts shipping games on some format that's more logical for PC gamers.

BR format never really got adopted enough on the PC (plus Sony is behind that format, who Microsoft don't get along with); since HD-DVD format failed (which Microsoft was behind); and game-downloads became more popular here (thanks to Steam, Origin, GOG and other services - and much better pricing sales than what retail often offers).

Even putting games a huge GB laced thumb-drive that contains the entire game would make more sense than this crap. That certainly would have games taking up less space on the shelves than even a slim-DVD case, as well - which retail surely would love.

And likely, most people have a USB port to stick a thumb-drive in.

Seconded!

I could go for an offline single-player campaign w/ this game, for sure.

When EA eventually decides to pull the servers, I'd be fine w/ an offline skirmish mode just to play against bots - a la Quake 3 and BF1942.

Hrm... couldn't really see a ton of gameplay in that video, but the game is going to have to be pretty badass to make a dent in the Diablo 3 / PoE / Grim Dawn world.

Sacred 1 = not bad.
Sacred 2 = terrible DRM, had to skip it.
Sacred 3 = simultaneous release on consoles? Uh oh.

Sacred 2: Gold got its Securom DRM removed in the version on Gamersgate - it's now DRM-FREE there:

Also, Steam-version of S2: Gold only uses Steam, nowadays:

Guess I need to finally break down and try this out. I trust it works fine with the steam version?

Look here for more info on Steam's V:TM-BL Forum here:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2025035

Yes, you should be able to get Wesp's or Tess's unofficial patches going w/ Steam version.

I recommend after you download Vampire: Bloodlines from Steam (patched up to Official Patch 1.2), you "archive" the entire game or back-up that game folder in its clean state somewhere else - in case you need to start back from scratch here to mod it up however you like.

Anytime you mod a Steam game, you probably should do this - especially on BIG-sized games. This is just in case 2 things could happen.
1. Something goes wrong w/ your game somehow from trying to mod it
2. Or Steam releases a new official patch that breaks your already modded-game - probably won't happen w/ Bloodlines b/c the game's old and Troika's gone (RIP), but I think this has been a problem w/ many who've modded Dead Island and Skyrim - and why I've never had problems w/ Dead Island and Skyrim (b/c I never modded them!).

This way, you don't have to re-download the entire thing to get back to a clean state, if you need to reinstall it to get back to a clean state.

What do they have besides Alpha Protocol that is their own IP?

Although I wouldn't mind an Alpha Protocol sequel... I'd love to see them do a Vampire Masquerade RPG... especially if they picked up some ex-trokia devs along the way.

About Troika - Tim Cain is now w/ Obsidian.
About AP - Sega owns Alpha Protocol IP, currently.

Just bought it on Steam and it's already pre-loading... so I'm good to go.

I hope this is as good as everyone says... this is the first "Day One" (or Pre-purchase in this case) that I've done since Oblivion.

I very rarely do Pre-Orders or Day One purchases any more, as well.
Last pre-order for a day 1 release I did was Witcher 2 from GOG.
Before that, Witcher 1.

Funny how people are different. The fact it is singleplayer only makes me MORE likely to want it.

Does this use Steam DRM? Just wondering in case I wanted to re-sell it later?

Also if I purchase it on Green Man Gaming do I have to install more software or just activate the key in Steam? Thank you!

Steam IS DRM. It ties the game to your Steam account.
NO RESALES allowed on Steam games.
If you buy from GMG, you take the game-key you get in your e-mail and plug that into your Steam account.
Deus Ex: HR PC requires Steam.
No matter where you buy the game key, you're gonna have to plug the key into your Steam account.

I had to jump on it when I saw it was a little under $30 from GMG, as well.

Of course it'll be a Steam key - the game requires it period. :oP

I just pre-purchased this on Steam yesterday. The way I figure it I love cyberpunk so much that even if this sucks somehow I will still enjoy it immensely, just for being a cyberpunk shooter with RPG elements. If it actually ends up being a Deus Ex game, well, that's even better.

I enjoyed Invisible War for the same reason.

I wish Invisible War ditched that foolish unified ammo.
Anyone ever make a mod to fix that?
