UPDATE 2.00pm: Seizing upon Disney's dismissal of Pewdiepie earlier today, YouTube has now taken its own steps to distance itself from its biggest star.

Pewdiepie's channel has been kicked out of Google Preferred, YouTube's major advertising program for selling popular “brand-safe content”, Variety reports. This follows a number of videos being delisted from the service for breaching its advertising rules.

The star's YouTube Red series Scare PewDiePie has also been cancelled. The show was renewed for a second season last June, although it's unclear whether any further work on the show had taken place.

Every time I see topics like this, I wonder if you guys actually believe that someone can be hired for $15 an hour to be a customer service rep at Valve, but decide they'd rather be the lead designer on HL3 and just ignore the phones to start doing game design...
That's not how valve works. Read about the hiring practices.
They hire the top of the industry (I doubt for less than $50 an hour). People like that aren't going to want to work on helldesk.

Sure they SHOULD hire a pile of temp workers or something, but they don't seem to want to.

Dude obviously doesn't read Valve's interviews or even press releases... where they describe how they went away from using humans in this process BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T WANT TO DO THE GRUNT WORK.

Valve KNOWS that that would fix it, they did it that way before greenlight. They just choose not to, because no one wants to wheel there desks over. It becomes playing games for a job then, not for fun.
You know all the crazy hats in TF2? That makes the game fun for the devs. So they do it.

This guy is also in denial about the flat management structure, he specifically references it in the story.

Nearly every crazy thing about valve can be explained by these factors, and it all becomes quite logical.

Never understood why they weren't making ST CRPGs.
Reason is highly likely to be licensing intricacies like cost or control.

That would be because they have managers and people hired for support (even if they are probably out of India).
Valve has desks on wheels with no one interested in being on helldesk.

I'd be on HellChat 10 hours a day if Valve paid me six figures.
Probably not if you had wheels on desk and could choose between that and a million other things, including your own projects (such as spending millions on VR), or making hats, or making HL3, etc.
Valve needs to stop insisting they get the best generalists and hire contract specialists in support, even Indian support would be better than what they have now.

How would it be that instead of just getting more money from their monopoly while doing nothing, which is how Steam Direct translates to me, if Valve would actually check whatever they sell on Steam for quality or at least make sure it runs how intended to weed out the trash?
Whoa whoa whoa man! Didn't you read the original greenlight press release? Valve said they were doing it because the checking was too much work and they wanted to shift that to the community instead.
Not joking.
So you can't expect them to want to wheel their desks to do that.
Valve is hoping to weed out "noise" with the fee, but sadly, a failure to review the titles will mean they stand more risk of filtering all the good indie titles right now.
Especially because steam has played a HUGE part in how the indie scene for PC has exploded in the past decade.

went to cross the border
The border is basically a rights exclusionary zone and courts have ruled it as such. Everyone going through the border should know or be informed of this. And there's the whole 100 miles zone that most of the US population lives in too.

Not saying what happened is right, just saying to be aware.

For a moment I read this as Consumer Support division, which would probably help them out more than this.

Still the original and best, although I prefered Terror from the Deep.
Same, in terms of mechanics, because of the melee weapons tweaks and additions. Other than that they are essentially identical. Kinda a rip off heh.

In terms of aliens, the ufo defense one had the most iconic aliens. Crysalids!

I'm guessing my new shiny 1070 GTX will be fine for 1080p.
Question is, will my 6gb ram and i7-920 squeak by.

And 60gb! dang!

To quote some game developer from the 90s (Carmack? Or maybe CliffyB?), a game is done, when it is done. Dont rush things, and give the developers time.
Would you say the same thing about star citizen? j/k

Definitely, the best TBS to the day! Spent hundreds of hours in both X-Com: Enemy Unknown and Terror From the Deep, soo many found memories. At some point a buddy and I would load 12 soldiers on the Skyranger, then split our troops in a half once on the ground and fight each other while the aliens were still shooting at us, it was awesome!
That sounds hilarious!

Sure. If you can prove to their satisfaction that it wasn't you, and if you're fine with waiting "a few weeks" to get your money back
That's not how it works on a credit card. You actually don't even have to pay that portion of the bill, and they cannot charge you for it while it's being investigated.

Yes, it can work that way with a debit card... which is yet another reason not to use a debit card.

Any verdict on which current 4X game is "the best", or at least highly recommended?
Distant Worlds: Universe hands down.
Which is FINALLY on steam. The devs stopped being idiots (or maybe they had a publishing agreement?) and now are on steam selling far more copies than before. The steam price is also much more reasonable than what they had before (yes I know it's high, but it's not $100+ high which I believe it was before with the expansions before it came to steam)
The steam version includes 4 expansion packs.
It's been as low as $25 or $30 on sale on steam.
