Oh I definitely agree with that first point, it goes to administration etc instead of teachers. Teachers are way underpaid. IT IS REDICULOUS THAT ANY TEACHERS SHOULD EVER BUY SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR KIDS.

But the second point depends on state. In California the teachers union is one of largest and strongest in nation. Here we have the problem that we can't get rid of the worst teachers.

I don't give a flying fuck how long it takes for them to belt out a "finished" product. Just because they have 100 million really only means that they have a long time to work on creating something excellent. And from this early alpha - I'd say they're doing fine.
$100 million would be a long time for many sensible studios. This one? Not so much the way they are throwing it away (such as the sub studios/offices they opened in other locations, and then closed again), or the expensive voice acting, etc.

Not a farmville clone, much much more in that game to do than farmville. I find it a fun, relaxing game with a lot of hidden depth and content to unlock as you and the seasons advance.
Plus as I understand it (haven't tried it yet) it's also mod friendly.

Seriously, Stardew Valley? Oh, PC Master Race, how you have fallen! A Farmville clone as the top seller? I'm so disappointed in you...
But hey, the highest rated game on steam right now is actually Factorio

(Tipsy McStagger, wut? ...why?)
If he's being flippant, is that really a good choice to do in front of a JURY AND SWORN TESTIMONY?
I give it 50/50 he was being honest.
In either case, it just shows how big of a pile of crap he is.

And if they are morons like other past barely made it KS projects, they did something stupid like only set the goal to 50% of what they actually needed figuring that people would way overshoot it, and now go bankrupt trying to make the game.
Yes, that's happened... multiple times.

"no, it is a curated experience designed for Windows 10"
WTF does that even mean? Does that mean they nerf the windows 10 store versions so much (things beyond exclusive full screen) th
at it's not even possible to cross platform play?

GMG has this for 25% off with code HIT25, so I figured why not drop less than $12 on the intro pack.
If I hate it, didn't waste much. If I love it, it will be a good start.
Incidentally that's a possible fail for Square Enix, if too many people get the intro pack and don't upgrade.

I believe it was previously open source non commercial, however just now it's OSI/FSF approved. I.e. a license change.

Looking forward to this one.
I wasn't going to back it until I saw this tier on KS
"I pirated Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island when I was a kid and I feel bad!" This reward tier instantly absolves you of all guilt and includes the Thimbleweed Park game. All subsequent tiers also include guilt absolution.

Anyone notice this bit?

"Put your own songs in the game and sell via steam workshop"

And you can also invest in the game, for every $250 you will get about .35 cents (i.e. about one third of a cent) for every copy sold (up to a certain amount, then it will half for the rest).
https://www.fig.co/campaigns/rock-band-4-pc/invest
I'm not going to, but it's an interesting choice

I have backed 10 different projects over the last few years. Nine of them are done, 1 is almost done and I would donate to all of them again. So if we are going to go by individual experience rather than looking at the overall big picture how do we settle it? Who has the more valid point of view? I mean, you only backed 5, I backed 10. Does my quantity give me the "right" point of view?
Well I've backed almost 200 projects, so my opinion must be worth 20 times yours!
Basically, from the KS study they put on their website, about 9% don't deliver. If you can't afford to lose the money you back with. Personally most of the projects I back I do at something around a $10 level.
https://www.kickstarter.com/fulfillment
The vast majority of KS's I've backed are late, some YEARS late. But most have delivered (even if they've cost their creator significantly more than he got on the project).
The few that haven't, oh well. Such is life, I haven't put a significant amount into those.

(Yes I realize I'm cutting your quote off, to make a point )

Fig though... ugh. Why didn't they use KS?

It remains to be seen if sales will be good if the game is sold on Steam, but you have to order the controller separately from NewEgg. Also, will modding be allowed? PC owners have pretty eclectic tastes and will want to make their own tracks.
Valve sells hardware now on steam, see steam link and steam controller, and a few others (I recall some steam machines around too). So that part wouldn't matter much.
Modding? Of course not, they sell each track as DLC for money, that's how they make bank.

I bought this and wanted to play it someday. (I might have tried it briefly I can't recall)
Now I won't get the chance to. Stupid EA.

Here's other ones that are being shut down or already shut down
http://www.ea.com/1/service-updates
LOL, I see battlefield play4free on the soon to be shut down list, wasn't that supposed to be the next best thing according to EA?

And need for speed world, wasn't that given out free or some big sale somewhere recently? LOL

I use both the above, and also a third option, the last version of VLC 1.x
(VLC 2 had a bunch of changes I didn't like and was much more CPU intensive)

I was under the impression that you could only "delay" updates on Enterprise and Pro versions but not turn it off completely.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_10
See the chart for info.

Both pro and enterprise let you choose the CBB branch and can defer something like 4-12 months.
Enterprise has a special additional branch you can choose. Branches for enterprise include the Current Branch for Business(CBB) "Business ready" or the Long Term Servicing Branch (LTSB) "Mission critical"
The first lets you defer for some months, the second you can defer forever.
The normal consumer pro windows 10 version, updates are MANDATORY and can NOT be deferred unless you have the special CBB branch.
Windows 10 Home has no such branch and all updates are mandatory.
