Mittens, its awesome that you want impulse to be super open, but how do we get games on there? Is there an approval process?
At this point, we just released the software and are more in the process of getting it to people and ensuring that it works for everyone. I'm not sure when we're going to start handling user-created content.

I think it's a very welcome opportunity for many mods, the option to charge for their work.

I'm not familiar with the intricacies of our EULA or the specifics of how the system will work in the future but this is my very understanding of how we plan to do things. We want to have Impulse be a viable release platform for both commercial and independent products; mods are almost always free and, as I understand it, charging for them will be up to author. We want to make the Impulse platform as open as possible to developers.

Like I said, don't take my words to be any sort of official comment or affirmation of things, this is just how I understand our vision for Impulse.

I wouldn't say Bioshock PC sold particularly well. They sold about 80,000 units in the first month on the PC as opposed to the nearly 500,000 units that it sold on the 360.

Oh, you watched the video blog... huh... Uh. Yeah.

Just ignore that nonsense about the player you see getting killed. His name wasn't "mittens" or anything. Just assume that it was a CPU-controlled character.

I know the team has been working their butts off on this expansion and have, surprisingly to me, been able to work in a new beta build almost every week. I passed this thread on to my coworkers (I work in the games team, but not on GalCiv2) just to show them how awesome their work is that even a Blues News thread is filled entirely with praise.

I heard that it brings nothing new to the table and plays like a Blizzard RTS.

And the fans rejoiced.

So true.

cut content for non-subscribers (three characters, smaller stash, less character classes, etc.

That's not even true at all. People who buy the game and play without a subscription have access to ALL of the content. The non-subscribers just won't get the additional post-release content, though they will get patch fixes and game-changing features from patches.

It's a good thing these comments are completely relevant and exemplary of the kind of maturity gamers possess.

I'd watch the video before you actually say anything like that.

The game may suck, but it's definitely not tame.

Well, because, if I don't show off how cool I am, then who will?

But, really, I've never gone out of my way to try and show off some sort of intelligence with my writing style. I just write like I talk -- it's a very conversational style that is simple and enjoyable to write... And that's primarily why I write as much as I do. It's fun for me. A decent amount of people enjoy reading my editorials (My babies. My labors of love) and the people that don't just don't. Sorry you're one of the latter, I guess.

Ha, yeah, no joke. I've been looking forward to this title for a while and then a quick perusing of the Gamepro article had me all sadpanda. Then I checked out the Gamersinfo one and now I'm all like: ! ... ?

I've been looking forward to this game for a while. It looks a damn fine action/RPG.

Wait. What?

I'm confused why this is even being bothered with since Faces of War is pretty much the successor to Soldiers: HoWWII.

This isn't shameless plugging or anything, but if I had spare time I'd definitely go ahead and read this fantastic series on real-time strategy games. I heard it's amazing and that the author is super awesome.

Mittens, stop shilling for EA.

I think "shill" is one of the most overused concepts since the time when Penny-Arcade "uncovered" the whole thing through some comics/e-mails.

I liked Battlefield 2 and I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying the beta for BF2142. So, yeah, woo. Look at me bleed and die for EA. I'd totally do anything to support all of their products! I love EA so much! I wish I could perform acts of sexual varieties on them or, if not, at least go from site to site and proclaim their goodness as a publisher!

Oh, wait, no. That was somebody else. God forbid I enjoy the Battlefield franchise despite their problems.

Learn from the past grasshoppers. BF2 = BF2142 except with in game dynamic ads.

I love when people try to pass off advice on to others without any actual first-hand experience with the games they're putting down.

I'm honestly surprised by how BF2142 is thus far. I was expecting a very tame-in-comparison BF:V to BF1942 kind of thing here, but they actually put some decent work into making BF2142 a highly enjoyable sequel. The engine still screams BF2 other than a few very pretty graphical updates, but the updated gameplay, new unlock system, and the Titan gameplay mode are all a blast to play.

I'm, honestly, enjoying the very-playable (though obviously buggy) beta more than I did the BF2 demo when it came out.

Thanks for being a part of the problem /golfclap
I've never understood the Fileplanet hate. It's an incredibly cheap subscription (Last I checked it was, what, $15/3 months?) and their patch/mod/utility database is ginormous. The download speeds I get are fantastic, I get access to subscriber-only betas (not all of which go public quickly), and they're always one of the first sites to have new demos and patches.

So, blindly hate if you want, but I consider my subscription well worth the money.

All of "Your" best efforts? So now inept publishers/developers blame the gaming community when they screw up? Very amusing.

Uh, Creston, this "OK, despite all your best efforts [...]" quote is a direct quote from a single reply inside a large thread over at the Relic Forums. Just read through the thread in which this quote originated. He wasn't "blaming the community," he was simply kidding around with some of the other posters' replies.

Or stay ignorant and attempt to bash one of the better developers around right now.
