A shame about J. Gunn. He seems truly sorry. It's a shame because he's the reason GotG is so good. We'll see what happens next but this is a blow to the possible quality of this franchise.

Kudos to Sean Murray and crew for making good on their initial promises despite a pretty rough launch. That's character.

I've got 50 or so hours in NMS, and have never found such a pure joy of exploration in a game before. The game's not perfect, but it certainly offers a compelling and unique experience.

(Edit: Just to clarify, I do not in any way condone death threats, harassment or fucking bomb threats against people over a goddamn videogame. Kill every piece of shit that did that.)

Inciting death threats against those who made death threats? Fantastic logic there, mate.

You need to have your SDC checked.*

So, you basically just duct tape a bunch of guns together to make a bigger gun? This looks retarded.

I dunno, I thought it looked cool. I like games where you can build something then use it to play the game.

Anyone still working for that company who hasn't actively been searching for another job deserves whatever happens -- which hopefully will be bankruptcy. Unfortunately, I doubt this small setback is really a significant problem for the company.

Why would they leave? The company up until now was rolling in it.

Sigh, Beamer doesn't want this thread to end.
I did not know it was possible to lose an internet discussion as succinctly as you have.

The only reason Beamer sticks around is to rub it in and remind you. Plus it's dang funny.

"Ending the thread" = Letting YourNick have the last word.

Obviously he was leaving open alternate avenues of understanding, such as this interpretation of trolls.

Extreme left and extreme right are both nuts. Most of us live in the middle and are capable of seeing both sides of most issues.

Thank you. The lack of common sense and flexibility in both those groups will be the undoing of us all.
When one side suggests Italian for dinner, and the other side suggests anthrax and tire irons, how do you find common ground?

There's another reason alcohol problems take hold, an increase in income. I've known people who were happier when a lack of money made excessive drinking impossible.
We are facing a rise in women getting into trouble with regular wine use, alcohol was made available in supermarkets here in 1990, easy, convenient. It's made to go with food right? Oh look my favourite pinot is on special I'll stock up on it while it's cheap.

Except that incomes haven't risen for 40 years. Unless liver deaths have increased by just 1%, b/c the 1% have certainly seen their incomes go up. Also, I love this line from the article:
Productivity has surged, but income and wages have stagnated for most Americans. If the median household income had kept pace with the economy since 1970, it would now be nearly $92,000, not $50,000.

The article also doesn't single out women and wine, which seems an anecdote based more in stereotype than fact.
One woman I drink with always has prosecco, but most of them drink beer, cocktails, shots, or soju.

I'm not saying that I don't agree that anything related to garbage person Alex Jones should be outright banned from Facebook, but it makes me wonder - with Google being a private company as Facebook is, do people also feel that Google has an ethical and moral obligation to block links to his garbage as well? Or 9/11 truthers? Or Flat-Earthers? Holocaust Deniers? As much as I don't like blatant lies being consumed as truth by the intellectually challenged masses, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with that. The obvious question would be where is the line drawn?
Google and Facebook are private companies. They can do what they want as long as they don't violate the rights of protected groups (minorities, gays, etc.) 9/11 Truthers and Flat-Earthers aren't protected, and companies might have a vested interest in keeping such incorrect information off their platforms.
