So THAT'S what Topher has been doing in his free time. Haven't seen the guy in a movie in ages, good to know he's keeping busy.

This is why I never subscribed... they always seemed shady as fuck.

I don't think they were really shady, I just never understood how this business was supposed to make any money. Yeah, they had these grandiose plans on how theaters were going to share concessions revenue with them... Uh-huh. Rolleyes

Just more of this horseshit Silicon Valley 'inventing' something, and it basically running of idiot venture capitalist money for a few years until it croaks.

Movie pass was puttering along at $30 per month with 10K or so subscribers until they dropped the price to $10. Then it exploded. Good that they got all that publicity, but it doesn't seem like there's a way to monetize that.

Blue is going to need those hangover cures after that Mets game.

@Cutter, the economy ain't what it used to be. Cops making $15 per hour and 80% of US workers living paycheck to paycheck.. It's not like the 80s where you could make enough to live on while going to school. Rather it's a lot more difficult today.

Samsung: STOP WITH THE FUCKING CURVED EDGES!!! Nobody wants them. It's a main reason I've stuck with my Note 4 this long. >:/

(That and my 6500mAh battery. )

I do, they have the best screen:body size ratio. The Edge features are useless gimmicks but the larger screen isn't.

Agreed. I do use the Edge quicklaunch feature for Clock and Calendar, but could probably put those anywhere. I don't put anything else on them.

I like having as few icons on my screen, so it's usually two clicks to launch anything other than the small handful of apps I use regularly (basically Uber, Instagram, Maps, Chrome & Textra.)

Beam, do you even own a car at this point, or do you just take public and Uber when you need to get around the city?

Getting rid of my car was one of the happiest moments of my life. Stupidly, I did it the day before I was on a plane, but man, did it feel good.

I actually don't Uber much. I walk to work, so I'd say out of a 30 day month, my only way of getting around is walking 24 of them. I'll cab 2, Uber 1, and use public transportation the remaining 3. Cabs are generally more convenient than Ubers in Manhattan, and public transportation is often faster and always cheaper.
Gotcha. I own a car because we have two kids to shuttle around, but I walk most places and let my wife drive. I walk to work, to the store, to the doctor, etc. One thing I definitely do use for is leisure: I need it to go to the beach, hiking, to my road races. So how do you handle leisure activities, if you don't mind me asking?

It's a sign that the cd/dvd burner is going the way of the dodo.

Has Microsoft moved to USB sticks for their software?

I installed Windows 10 from USB after I downloaded the installer. Then the rest of the software downloaded from the MS site. That's what's replacing disks.

Wonder how that Steam decline stacks up against fortnite's popularity.

Could epic use it to launch their own store? Valve just needed Halflife 2 and Counterstrike. Gotta be someone there thinking how to leverage those numbers.
I was thinking itch.io (where my son hangs out) but I think you are right: Fortnite.

Trump and his lackeys are doing their best. There has been and will be more damage. But they will only damage it, they can't kill it. The bigger fear is enough of the population buy what the GOP is selling to allow them to keep control of both the House and the Senate...
Given that most states are heavily gerrymandered in favor of the GOP, I read somewhere that they need only about 40% of the vote to retain the House. Good times.

just put a product I know has all legitimate reviews into Fakespot and it gave it... an F. The product has a 2.9 rating, but gets dinged for them being "too positive." And the product has almost exclusively Vine reviews, which are impossible to fake.
Definitely a rare example. Glad to know vine reviews can't be scammed but McDonalds Monopoly can.

From the article:

“Those who voluntarily choose to forego vaccination are thus free-riders, benefiting from this public good without contributing to it,” Schwartz concludes. One possible solution, he writes: vaccination refusal fees that would go to cover outbreak response costs, among other vaccination-related expenses.

$1000 per vaccine refused should do it. You'll still have people who will pay, but most will and we can keep herd immunity above the threshold.

That's why I never give a 5 star review - nothing is perfect - so 4 at max. And for that same reason I tend to ignore those reviews. I generally look for more what people say is a problem with something than what's right with it.

I'm building up my camping equipment bit by bit to get back into doing some backcountry hiking and camping. Some of the stuff I ordered on Amazon was woefully inadequate because the reviews weren't comprehensive enough - or included pictures. A bush knife, while nice was just super tiny and a compass, also nice, but weighed a ton. So back they went with reviews describing their shortcomings and pics so people could get a better idea and save themselves the trouble in the future.
That's pretty cool of you.

Are "verified purchase" reviews also faked?

I usually buy brand names off Amazon, but got some Phaiser Bluetooth headphones for running about a year ago and I have been very happy with them.
