Because WoW did nothing new to any game and their are still developers out there that actually dare to try something different?

Though I have no idea about this game and it'll probably fail, I just had to actually say that WoW did nothing new and is by far not the greatest game ever.

Look kiddies, art direction is nice, but get over it, it doesn't make a perfect game that we played 5 years ago with EverQuest.

No one said the game is perfect, but it is EASILY the absolute best mmorpg available and I see nothing announced which will top it. You're either not an MMORPG fan or just not smart.

Within its first day of release, World of Warcraft sold more than 240,000 copies -- the highest day-one total in PC game history.

With World of Warcraft now released, why would any company continue to develop an MMORPG?

Oh No! If the game takes too long to reach me, there's a good chance the graphics will end up looking dated

Poor guy needs a new video card.

I need WoW. Thank god I don't live in Canada or I'd have to move out of that country because of this. :\

I think you will find that the Warriors that are complaining are not mid-level.

Hi Bronco:

Like you said, the players just need to adapt. All warriors can still tank, they just need to change playstyle a bit.

The paladin was the same way... So many people were complaining that they're broken, but after they learn how to play, they love the new changes.

Who knows why the sweeping changes came so late, but they did... It's still a very fun game.

I wonder if they'll let our OB chars carry over... more than likely not, but it'd be kinda nice...

"Change" hah. Tell that to all the warriors who can't tank anymore. What's their purpose now?

Warriors can tank fine. I have a mid-level warrior and warriors just need to adapt to the new play style.

The game will be patched constantly, don't be a fucking moron.

How come I and everyone else who IS playing is enjoying the new combat system?

Maybe this is because you are the only one actually playing EQ2?

#90:

You speak about Guild Wars as if your opinion was fact. I hardly think that 400,000 people would have logged in during the last WPE to play a boring game. Personally i find fun in both games, they're different but enjoyable. I also think that GW was more complete in many aspects even during its E3 alpha phase than WoW is now --- although GW doesn't classify as a normal MMORPG... anyway, i'll be buying both. I admit i'm looking forward to GW more, but that's because the mission-based style appeals greatly to me. Exploring in WoW i generally find more fun than in GW.

Yes, you are completely right. I was sharing my opinion. Isn't that what we are doing here?

Sorry, build Guild Wars seemed too simple for me. WoW is designed to be simple, but still has more depth than GW.

And you can't judge the game by 400,000 who joined a "world event". It's unfair.

Not all of those 400,000 people who tried it actually liked it. Hell, some probably didn't even know what they were trying.

Don't get me wrong, GW was surprisingly stable and ran fairly well but it is just not fun (IMHO(pinion)) (=

Who cares if the game is gold? There's a patcher. There will be at least one more patch before Nov 23 and, obviously, constant patches after release.

This MMORPG is more complete at its release than just about any other out there.

Guild wars was beyond boring and lacked a key element: fun.

It's funny that you're one of those kids who scream "nerf" when Blizzard implements a "change".

But what do you care, you won't be playing anyway. (yea, right.)

Patience. You should be able to make an account on worldofwarcraft.com once the technical difficulties are solved.

This is straight from Blizzard.

worldofwarcraft.com is currently being hammered into oblivion as we speak. I really hope I get to try this otherwise I don't think I will buy the game without knowing what it is like.

Go and have yourself an orgasm. That is what it is like.

...is actually what it says there on Battle.net. And Fileplanet now says you can still get in via WorldOfWarcraft.com, complete with link. Which is down at the moment, but that doesn't make him a dolt.

Errr... he said he remembers those "idiots" saying this will be a real open beta... if he doesn't want to be insulted, maybe he shouldn't insult others...

AN OPEN BETA IS AVAILABLE TO ANYONE AND EVERYONE... anything else is a CLOSED BETA

Dear dolt,

The beta is not closed. Access to the beta through fileplanet is closed. Be patient and you'll get in via http://www.worldofwarcraft.com.

Sincerely,
Notadolt

Cheese has no clue what he's talking about.

I think the best statement in this thread is "Graphically EQ2 is better, visually WoW just owns EQ2."

EQ2 might exercise more features of modern day graphics cards, but that isn't always smart.

And, it's not even THAT much better.

Here's a good screenshot of WoW:

WoW is a game where people will have fun, level to 60, and then move on and be done with it. It's a fun game, but the lasting appeal just isn't there.

No, the Wow BETA is a game where people have fun, level to 60, and then move on and be done with it.

Blizzard realizes it will not take people long to reach 60 and are adding plenty of content to keep people interested in the game after you reach the top level.

A patcher that is newer than the one used for the last push? Does it use the same method to acquire the data?

I don't know for sure if the new patcher uses the same method, but I seriously doubt it does. It downloaded for me in about 4 seconds. I wasn't around for last push as I was never in closed beta so I'm only assuming this patcher is new.

I guess this means the BT experiment is over?

I dunno. Quite possibly.

Bronco:

You misunderstood me. There's a new PATCHER. You still need to download the game via blizzards downloader or fileplanet, but patches will no longer be distributed through the blizzard downloader.

So at retail, barely anyone will have these download woes.
