It takes a real special person to 1) go into the comments section for a game he thinks is pathetic and 2) call people who like the said game 'terminal geek-nerds' in all seriousness; while having almost 600 posts on a gaming news site in four months.

Every time I go into the comments section and see your name, cock captain, I reminisce about the days when the novelty and 'geekiness' of the internet populated bluesnews with fairly interesting, enthusiastic people, while asshats like you were restricted to AOL's confines. But alas, ever since word got out and retarded buttmonkeys like you, ass captain, learned how to start up internet explorer and type in a url address, even esoteric places like this site have been flooded with brainless cretins who make stupid posts comprised of stupid ideas backed up by stupider arguments.

There is an eerie parallel between the dumbing down of PC games, and the seeming dumbing down of the gaming audience. Although every time I accidentally read one of your posts before taking the precaution of looking at its author, cack captain, I'm reassured that the latter is far outpacing the former. But don't waste your breath space retard, I won't be checking this thread again.

So you're complaining that you still have to 'advance through the ages' (which is an age of empires staple), but you don't like that they're using the only era that hasn't been done a million times already? Just because formations of the time were a pretty stiff deal for the ordinary infantry men, doesn't mean that the era was devoid of tactical prowess. Besides, this is still an RTS so you can expect it to play like one, just in an imperial setting.

All those physics will work quite well with cannons hitting musketeers.

Yeah I'll be throwing the box away the minute I get it, but the 210 page art book and soundtrack CD look pretty good!

If by 'nothing special' you mean only the best graphics in any game yet, then sure.

There is no slavery in China. Nobody kidnapped these people and made them farm. They chose this job because it is better than their other alternatives. If you actually read the article, you'd find out that they are getting above average salary for fairly non-intensive work. If anything, you should praise the "lazy/stupid" people in the US/Europe who create a market for this.

If I played this atrocity of a game, I'd definitely buy some gold with real money. Why spend many hours on a built-in timesink when you can give some pocket change to a guy who does it for a living. You get the fun, he gets a living.

There is a fairly large Chivalry mod in development for RTW that might interest you. As far as CA goes, I've lost my faith in them. What shipped in the box is hardly even a game. More like an engine/interface for mod developers to create a real game from, like RTR. Although, the AI files are completely locked up, so can't mod those!

Well Beamer, Intel was up not long ago when AMD's xp line came up against Northwood, but ever since amd64 Intel has been far behind in gaming performance. This gap just keeps widening and it really IS a slaughter today, but I can see your point that it hasn't always been like this. AMD had already lost an opportunity to break out with their first Athlon, but they didn't, and now they need something desparately to do it with the amd64.

AMD has NOT made significant gains in marketshare since 5 years ago. They just about peaked at that time, then dipped, and now they're almost back to where they were in 01'. AMD is doing very, very poorly for having a superior product in AMD64. If they don't get something now, they'll end up washed up on the shores when Intel finally releases a good CPU.

MeatFarts is dead on, everyone else is just flaming EA because it's 'cool' or they are ignorant. EA has been saying forever that the unlockable weapons are a special ranked server thing only, to add an RPG slant to the game.

Essentially they went and added a full extra set of weapons over what other bf games had, to have something special for people who play on ranked servers to look forward to. And now everyone is crying that they can't get those weapons instantly.

No, you can't do anything you want with the game just because you're running a server. It's not open source software.

Idiots in Guild Wars are just fine, because that makes it more fun to kill them in PvP. Idiots in real* games are a pain because PvP is limited/sucks, so you have to take their shit.

Unless they have families, why WOULDNT they move to Sweden? What's the worst that can happen, they don't like it and they move back? Sounds like an amazing opportunity to see the world while still holding a job.

I loved the video, because of how fluid the gameplay looks. Notice how the FPS appears to be quite high, I wonder what's in those tester machines. I noticed they are DELLs, you think EA would pay DELL tons of money to have all those tester machines loaded with top end video cards? This is very hopeful!

Actually, I'm kinda excited about the Media Center and streaming from my PC to xbox360 over a network. My PC is too far away from my TV to get any kind of video-out action going, but my place is wired with ethernet cables. It'd be nice to stream stuff like video/pics from the PC to the living room.

If the next Fight Night or Burnout is out close to launch, that would be enough to seal the deal for me.

IMO the most positive aspect of Shogun's simplicity was the fact that the AI could keep up. As complexity has been stacked more and more with each release, the AI has been left behind very badly.

Sphinx, here's the website link for RTR:

http://www.rometotalrealism.com/preview.htm

and here's the main forum for it where you'll find lots of discussion:

http://www.twcenter.net/forums/index.php?showforum=53

The mod balances stats, cost, and upkeep of all units; removes and adds units; reskins most units; modifies some units' sizes and formations; adds many new territories; changes starting assets; changes game events such as marian reform; changes tech trees; adds new music and voiceovers; changes banners; adds ZoR (zone of recruitment) that changes what units you can recruit at freshly conquered provinces based on their original culture.

Basically, it changes everything; it will take you a good hour to just read through all the changes since version one. The upcoming 6.0 release that's planned for mid-may is incredibly ambitious.

In my mind, this is what RTW should have been out of the box; it makes vanilla RTW look shallow and poorly test in comparison.

You can make an argument that Starsiege Tribes games are require individual servers, so to go from one game to another you have to jump servers. Whatever, there are so many details like this that how does one even go about determining where to draw the line? My point is that Guild Wars is not so far separated from being a "massively multiplayer" experience that someone should take offense when people refer to it as that.
