Let's face it, FPSes cost too much to make, and it's too hard to make them innovative. When's the last time we've seen something truly ground-breaking? I'll tell you when.. Half-Life.

What happened since then? Various better graphics, sometimes bigger levels. Overall, a lot more level linearity and dumbing down of gameplay.

Hold ALT and a little sword icon will appear when you target the enemy, if you do it the Legionnaires will attack without throwing their pilums.

Too many games coming out? Sure.

Too many GOOD games coming out? Nah, this seems to be the first one.

The Sims 2: The Sims 1 + all expansions in 3d.. Good game but not worth $50.
Tribes: Vengeance: Good game, but it's just too much like UT2004's CTF with vehicles with jetpacks. Vehicles are too weak and you no longer even buy them. Just the same CTF all over again. Not worth $50
Star Wars Battlefront: Not even BF1942, this is just a lame console port.. think CTF with a vehicle or two on tiny maps.

That's about it, did I miss any other hyped up games?

So an MMORPG uses the Source engine.. so? The engine doesn't make the game.

Well since this is a post about the Server, I'm actually going to talk about the server, not the game *gasp*.

LucasArts is stupid for only releasing a Windows server, because most people with a good connection (10 mbps+) are obviously running Linux. So let's all go thank LEC because until they release a Linux binary there will be a handful decent servers.

p.s.yes, I have a Linux server and was planning on running SWBFDS

Nice.. hope they didn't dumb down the tactical battles too much though! The demo seemed pretty gleem.

q[ To fastpaced...good for UT fans and Doom freaks
Vehicles useless....anyone and there mother can take one out easy
Jet packs Uber....jet packs have tunred men into super men
Weapons suck....pretty easy there all spam

Tribes is no more. Its should be called Tribes Arena. That name fits the smaller area and crappy vehicles. I didnt really see anyone use anything but the small sphere vehicle.]
That's right, that's what this game is now.. a sad memory of what it once was.

Thought of this game while watching "First Contact" again last nite, man there's a WEALTH of material to work with - Wesley Crusher & nanites, Data/Lore, Zephrym Cochran, -Q-, Ferengi, Borg, Locutus, Species 8472, the holodeck, etc etc etc.

Keep putting your hopes up.. you'll be in for a real disappointment when it's another EQ clone.

[q]Yeah, you tell him. Quite picking on poor vivendi universal. They have almost never missed a release date and have always been forth coming with information about their games.[/q]

Yeah, except that one time they missed the Half-Life 2 release.. or was it twice? Or was it three times? Can't remember honestly.

By the way, played T:V and it's just a Tribes+UT2004 mix with better graphics.. $50 for this? Unless the single player is real good, slim chance.

Neverwinter Nights wasn't so bad.. it's when KOTOR came out that it was obvious. There's almost 0 replayability, all of the level designs were linear, and the old party system was gone. To boot, all the non-melee weapon skills were worthless since after your character became a Jedi he'd only use the lightsaber anyways.

I don't think any PC gamers are real hot on another console port, KOTOR was a pretty big disappointment and that was developed with PC in mind!
