The stance system allows you to put squads into either a melee preference or ranged weapon preference. If in melee stance, then they will charge an enemy and engage them in melee (forcing them to put away ranged weaps and fight h2h). Adds some tactical depth to the game.
Awesome! It's great to see a company actually support their fan base after a game has been released. The patch lists some pretty significant feature additions. Not something you see everyday for games these days.
After seeing Company of Heroes from Relic, these guys may want to close up shop.
I have seen the shots of Age 3 and they look fantastic. I still maintain that the Company of Heroes shots look better.
Saw the screenshots in the new PC Gamer...if those are real, then this is the most incredible looking FPS...I mean RTS (they make Call of Duty 2 look 2 years old) WWII has ever seen. Also they have a before and after shot of a town...totally destroyed, looks freakin' awesome. BTW, yes, I am a Relic fanboy.

I had the same bug, but it's fixed now...had a save game that could repro it 100%, and now it works. New MP maps are sweet.
Why do people continually think that Fileplanet pays anybody to host files? They don't. The only thing a developer or publisher will get from FP is pimping. Sending email blasts, on site promotion and top page billing. And to address your idiotic statement about offsetting the cost of development? What the hell do you think they makes games for? To make money you toad! It's a business, just like Blue selling out to UGO and us having to look at these damn popup ads. I still fin it funny that he writes about the use of Fileplanet like it's any different that what he does.
8 player LAN and Online.
I believe that TF2 will be shipping as a double pack with Duke Nukem Forever.
Reviewers said that the 12 missions were much longer and more involved than the WC3 stuff. They said it was around 15-20 hours on the normal difficulty level.
Heard buzzing on the official forum that a demo was coming this week. Also saw there that UK PC Gamer reviewed the game already (not sure how they do that before it hits shelves) and gave it a 91% saying best RTS since TA.
While #29's reply was a tad harsh, he's right. Warcraft 3 and DoW are not alike. Much bigger armies, much more tactical play in DoW. Much smaller focus on RPG hero elements, and DoW looks a ton better. War3 was a great game, but very different from DoW.
There is a basic skirmish in the beta and the back of box from my preorder states that you can play Human vs. AI in not only single player, but online and LAN play as well.
If you are abandoning your early units, then you are missing out. Squads are extremely versatile and are the most effective counters to many of the late game units. Using a couple squads of missile outfitted marines to take out a Killa Kan is much more economically sound than using a dreadnought. When using the right counters and upgrading your squads the right way (which you do dynamically for each squad) early game units are key to victory from start to finish.
Bet EA will be bummed to find out it's not in the Q3 engine...since they are still paying licensing fees.

My thoughts exactly. Very much a me too RTS. It does lack some of the interface improvements that games like RoN do...lasso only military units and not builders, etc. Terrain is very pretty, units look OK, but animations are boring. It looks good compared to WC3, but doesn't stand up to the animations or effects in the Warhammer game that's in beta. I played this for about two hours, then went back to the Warhammer game...which is AWESOME.
