2 billion?! For a company that has almost no assets and has shipped not one single retail product? Then again didn't he just pay 15 billion for a friken messenger app, tech companies are way over valued.

Don't really get the hate on this purchase. If VR is something you want, then having Zuckerbergs money behind it is what's going to take it to the next level. I'm skeptical VR can go mainstream but Zuckerbergs obviously betting on it. Notch is an idiot, WTF does a VR headset have to do with Facebook other then being owned by the same person. He's just jumping on the hate Facebook bandwagon because it's the trendy thing to do these days, eh fellow Bluesers?

I'm sure there are better headsets specifically for PC but I got these for Xmas a few years ago and I really like them.

I dislike headphones that rest on or go in my ears, these go over the ears and don't even touch my glasses. They are wireless, have an easy to use mic mute switch and sound pretty good. One thing I really like is a second volume control that allows me to adjust between game sound and voice sound so I can clearly hear what people are saying in game. The telescopic mic itself seems a little flimsy but it hasn't broke on me yet.

I just started the first Infamous this weekend. I saw the "Copyright 2009" and laughed, thinking about how, in the past, 5 years would feel ridiculously dated.

Well, Infamous feels ridiculously dated. The animation is terrible, the whole structure is kind of terrible, your powers are kind of terrible, the characters are kind of terrible, and for some reason Cole makes a weird squishy noise when he runs - weirdest sound direction I've ever heard.

I don't know how far I'll go with this game. I remember huge arguments about this vs Prototype, but it feels like a no-brainer to me. Prototype felt oddly lifeless and was often repetitive, but at least you weren't some weak squishy guy constantly being told what to do via Sprint Push-To-Talk while desperately jumping up and down on a building hoping there's something to grab within jumping distance.

Game looked dated when it was released, that's not what makes it good. Cole is anything but "weak" really have to play the game to unlock Coles abilities. Then the game shines once Cole becomes a total wreaking machine. I still need to play thru as 'bad' Cole, did the good guy thing on my other play thru.

Watched both TED talks with the NSA and Snowden. Snowden came off as the intelligent person in the intelligence debate. NSA head came off as a total shill, reading from a script and avoiding answers with a whole lot ums and ahhs and deflections.

Heh, so Best Buy and Walmart stocked up on these and now find out they can't move them? Too funny. Checking local stores lots of TF XB1s available, PS4 sorry no stock... and that's at the new PS4 $450 price tag up here in Canada.

FIRST BLOOD! MULTI KILL! HEADSHOT! MMMMMMMONSTER KILL!

Truth is that if UT99 was brought into the modern age it would probably be antiquated, rejected by the vast majority of game players today who don't have that nostalgia that we old fogies have for it.

I dunno about that. If they kept what made UT great and expanded it to add what peeps seem to like about modern shooters like upgrades and unlocks, it could catch on I think.

HDCP off option? Um did you get permission from the MPAA to do that Sony? I see a lawsuit in Sony's future followed by a quick renege on the ability to turn off HDCP.

I love Gauntlet... I always wanted an actual arcade machine. But I'll explain my problem with actually playing Gauntlet on any home system (including an of the newer 3D ones). Without the balance of using actual money to continue or add health, the game doesn't really work. If I can continue an unlimited amount of times, without having to worry about running out of quarters, the danger of the game is gone. I find that you just start barreling through monsters, where in the arcade you actually take your time and try to avoid being hit.

Disagree, I remember playing a Gauntlet type game with a friend on the TurboGrafx and it was quite enjoyable without having to dump quarters into it.

Blue, child in this instance isn't what you think it is. Song clearly uses the term woman also. Never crossed my mind that this was a pedo song, always came across as typical love song. Now the opening verse of Aqualung on the other hand.

Not that it would make any difference, the game is broken when I stopped playing it. Half my cities were non-functional due to disappearing utility trucks and gigantic retardation-related traffic jams

Yeah that's what I heard from people playing, the simulation itself completely breaks down later on and it would only get worse with larger city sizes.

Absolutely, it is a mess. Never mind how long the offline mode should have taken or that, obviously, it should have been offline from day 0, this game is a mess and offline mode isn't going to change that. It may enable modding which in turn rescues it to some extent but there's no point. Anno, Tropico and SimCity 4 are all much better than this will ever be.

I played it again recently to see if the various patches have helped. They have, in particular with traffic, but the problems run too deep for patches to fix it. I've referred to it as SimSeveralSmallTowns in the past (with my trademark cutting satire surely shaming EA into rethinking their practises) because there's actually a decent builder until you get to what it claims is about 15,000 sims. I say "claims" because on the UI element which displays the population calls GetFudgedPopulation() - yes, really! - which fakes this exponentially. After this, the piss poor simulation can't seem to assign jobs properly or model things like education.

This is all made worse by the resource system. This is called City Specialisation and is supposed to make each city different but it has the opposite effect. Apart from the effectively cosmetic differences between the industries, every city is build around where these resources can be mined/drilled/etc - which is typically in the sort of flat, open area where one might want to build a city.

All this is why I quickly stopped caring about the city size. It's no exaggeration to say that the maps could be a quarter of the size they are now and without the city specialisation junk wasting prime space, the simulation would be maxed out.

Heh, one of many reasons I never touched this game. Simcity 4 never worked properly, AI couldn't get to work because of the traffic simulation, and they never fixed it. Probably because they had no idea how to, have to agree with people that Maxis can't code worth shit, well they can't code these kind of massive simulations at any rate. At least it was modifiable and the community figured out a way to at least make it work.

The Last of Us sounds like a great game, but what I will NEVER get is how in the hell a 30 year old woman is convincing/plausible actress as a 12 year old girl. It's effing ridiculous. Even in the video clips I've seen, it was horribly obvious.

Well I actually played the game and it wasn't obvious to me. Ellie seemed fine to me, but then again I don't hang around with tween girls so what do I know.

So now a game has to be released on ALL platforms to be considered a game? That's news to me.
