You're the uneducated rube, if your post is any indication. Read about Federalism. Ya know- states rights theory? Dipshit. Read about the history of things like the Patriot Act. Read about how they were used by the Fed as tools during times of conflict AND THEN REPEALED. Have you even read the Patriot Act? You need a legal and historical education to even try to understand it's meaning. I doubt you have either. As you may have guessed, I do. You ponce.

HARKEN YE!
The pseudo-politicos of the world shall now burble anally...at least Halsy...

U.S. unempl. = 5.7%, asswipe. http://www.etalkinghead.com/archives/us-unemployment-2004-10-05.html AND http://www.etalkinghead.com/archives/us-unemployment-2004-10-05.html. AND http://money.cnn.com/2004/04/02/news/economy/jobs/ AND
http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm

When will you start reading and stop inventing bullshit?
Quote from CNN (above):"Gain of 308,000 jobs far better than Wall Street's forecasts; unemployment rate up to 5.7 percent."

Just keep praying that whatever numbers spin you've done will somehow keep the conglomeration of Euro banks from watching the Euro eat a big turd in the very near future.

My level of education? You don't apparently understand the nature of American liberalism versus European liberalism. American liberalism = big fed. American conservatism - small fed. Ever heard of Federalism? Ever read Madison? "Family values censorship" creating top-heavy federal government? American liberals for small federal gov't? Don't make me laugh. The American GOP has been far more consistently pro-Federalism, despite the religious right. The American Left has and always will seek to legislate everything- from the way we think to what we see and hear VIA THE FEDERAL GOV'T. That means big federal government. That means top-heavy bureaucracy. Unfort. for the we-know-better-than-you armchair libsticks (and some moral maj. types), one cannot legislate equality, morality, etc. Read history and stop throwing around your half-assed poli-sci and totally bullshit unempl. numbers while assuming no one will correct you.

Keep voting Left, and that's what you get: bureaucratic Tipper Gore wannabes world-wide. Once again, the "pro-arts" parties of the world advocating censorship. It's OK to show graphic homosexual sex acts (remember Mapplethorpe show advocates?), just not Gordon Freeman shooting at arachnids. Yet another hypocrisy of "democratic" socialism. VOTE RIGHT, folks. Keep The Fed as small and as unintrusive as possible. With 10%+ unemployment EU-wide, perhaps the Aussies will realize that their demo-socialism and top-heavy bureaucracies are based on knee-jerk emotional pseudo-thought. Censorship is and will always be the bastion of the Left. Trip to China, anyone?

Yep-

Let's all get real excited to play a game that looks (visually) like a Q3 mod. Two-year old gfx (at least). Cheap gimmicks like the grav gun (not unprecedented (see D3's flashlight). FC, D3 kill it graphically. Even Painkiller looks better in some places.

If HL2's gameplay does not redefine the genre, this game will not be purchased by me. And I'll bet the farm that the gameplay will be only slightly innovate. Gravity guns and flashlights are not sufficient to qualify. I hope Valve/Vivendi/Sierra eats a huge, chunky financial turd on this one. The industry needs to be taught a lesson re:release dates and proper enthusiasm for completion of projects.

Here's hoping that DNF will be revamped a fiftieth time, so at least it will _look_ current when it arrives

This is hilarious. Fucked. Just like I noted in the thread re: Valve vs. Vivendi.
I'm out.

WTF now? Will there be more delays in HL2 release due to this fiddle-faddle? At this point, I'm getting closer to boycotting the whole fucking mess. Carmack must be paying close attention, and trying to keep from laughing himself to death.
P.S. HL2 graphics are well-outdated.

More---

Aniso controlled within Doom 3 with pull-down command image_anisotropy does have a noticable, real-time effect on game textures, so there is some kind of aniso being provided by the game if not overridden by the ATI display properties tab. However, it's poor quality compared tp the aniso implemented via the ATI tab control, even when using "performance" aniso setting. Using the ATI tab to control aniso will provide much better quality (even on "performance" setting), but slows the game way down.
I wonder what kind of aniso is implemented via the Doom 3 software setting and why it looks so much worse than using the ATI tab to set aniso...

Just wrote a huge note that got deleted.....

Bottom line- set aniso from the ATI display properties tab with ATI drivers. With 4.7 or 4.9, Doom 3's aniso set by "High" detail is not aniso. I don't know what it is, but is looks like trilinear only. If u don't believe me, try just the Doom 3 software set to "High" detail, which should create 8X aniso. It won't. Look at textures with legible writing from an angle, comapring software-driven aniso to aniso set with the ATI tab. No contest; doesn't matter if tab is set to qual or perf.

The 4.9 has been running faster for all of you b/c it seems to kill any trace of aniso that would be set by doom 3 "High" setting. Use the ATI tab to set aniso. 4.9 using the ATI tab to set aniso runs faster than 4.7 using the ATI tab to set aniso. You'll see. You won't want to rely on Doom 3's software-driven 8X whateverthef? filtering engaged with the "High" setting.

Further- use the ATI control panel to set anti-aliasing after turning it off in Doom 3. Set temporal anti-aliasing 2X instead of "plain" 2X, not only looks better but runs ~3fps faster on my rig w/demo1 timedemo.

Yeah!

With the 4.9 beta opengl .dll file, I find the game highly playable @ 1280X1024, ULTRA qual., 2X anti-aliasing, all adv. options "on", even with my partially 1+ year old rig. I do not use "Overdrive." I use Radlinker tab in display properties (creating a Radlink will sometimes cause a crash) set to CORE: 530; RAM: 591 for my vid card. Of course, there is an initial "hitch" whenever one enters a room with new textures at ULTRA quality. Timedemo demo1 = 39 FPS (the second time). Obviously, timedemo demo1 only gives an average framerate. It cannot tell you the min FPS as a function of total measured FPS. Although I only get 39, the framerate never seems to drop very low.

At HIGH qual. with all other settings the same as above, I get 48+ FPS. HIGH is also very playable at 1600X1200, 2x anti-aliasing!

1G Corsair XMS RAM (DDR400)
Radeon X800 XT Platinum (AGP) @ 530/591
Win XP Pro

Anyone know of the best way to cool the X800 XT's RAM? There is nothing on the card to sufficiently cool the RAM when overclocking. If there was, I'm sure I could go to 620+ on the RAM clock.

Loving it,
Larry
