It wouldn't be too hard, just have to come up with a hocus pocu storyline and they are good to go to throw in all the variables needed.
Seems like almost an easy target for a big company like EA.

Same goes for creating a game like Skyrim (minus not needing a decent story).
It really surprises me that no AAA dev/pub have made a similar game. A first-person, action-oriented Fatasy RPG sandbox with good combat would KILL on the market, just like Skyrim has

I think the Witcher 3 is supposed to be something like this from what I've heard. I know im looking forward to it.

If you call your speculation truth then so be it. If SC ends up charging a sub then yeah ill be mad.Im not ready to jump on the hater wagon yet. I see a steady flow of information and progress reports so why should I?

All I see is a lot of time and money being wasted on everything that isn't the space game that was promised. Besides everything being monetized out the ass what do you think Roberts is going to charge for a monthly fee for MP if and when it arrives? Standard $15 a month? Or push it to $20 or $30? Probably tiered with "premium" P2W monthly packages I suspect.

Cutter you get so mad over shit you make up and speculate on. Read the faq. It says no sub. Now if they go back on their word and charge then get pissed ( I will ). But give it a fuckn rest all ready. You pull so much shit out of a hat. I hear you that you want you space game but some people want something a bit deeper than just flying around in space shooting alien X Y Z.

This is rich, sounds like that BattleStar Galactica online game with the same lame offering. Bare bones space flight sim, with minimal content and an empty hangar to 'walk' around in.

PT Barnum was right.

Bare bones? You do realize that half of the bitching and moaning going on about this game is that they are trying to put to much into at the start? (Which is a valid point but doesn't bother me personally) I think this is just the arena (flight) module you can play. Which doesn't have anything in it but flying around and shooting at things

I remember when people shit their britches when games were on 4 floppy disk. What do you have like 30 ships (guessing) in High res, in addition to their interiors. Animations for each ship and their movable parts graphics and effects for a bunch of weapons, explore able stations and who knows what else.

I just hope that the patches can install while you play or patch days are going to be a bitch.

Actually they don't. It states both on Kickstarter and the RSI Tos that the game is subject to change and may be delayed. Kickstarter clearly states in the kickstarter faq (quote followsthis comment its a long read), It also states in RSI's TOS link and quote follows comment.

You can bitch and moan or hell even talk out your ass like Cutter or you can accept its pretty much like every other game out there in development thats in Pre Alpha. So its going to get delayed and yes content is going to change.

Its clearly stated on the Kickstarter faq and the RSI TOS what to
expect.

Kickstarter FAQ excerpt followed by RSI TOS excerpt:

What should creators do if they're having problems completing their project?

If problems come up, creators are expected to post a project update explaining the situation. Sharing the story, speed bumps and all, is crucial. Most backers support projects because they want to see something happen and they'd like to be a part of it. Creators who are honest and transparent will usually find backers to be understanding.

It's not uncommon for things to take longer than expected. Sometimes the execution of the project proves more difficult than the creator had anticipated. If a creator is making a good faith effort to complete their project and is transparent about it, backers should do their best to be patient and understanding while demanding continued accountability from the creator.

If the problems are severe enough that the creator can't fulfill their project, creators need to find a resolution. Steps should include offering refunds, detailing exactly how funds were used, and other actions to satisfy backers. For more information, see Section 4 of our Terms of Use.

For projects that launched before October 19, 2014, please see our previous Terms of Use.

In addition on RSI website in the terms of service
( https://robertsspaceindustries.com/tos )

RSI agrees to use its good faith business efforts to deliver to you the pledge items and the Game on or before the estimated delivery date communicated to you on the Website. However, you acknowledge and agree that delivery as of such date is not a firm promise and may be extended by RSI since unforeseen events may extend the development and/or production time. Accordingly, you agree that any unearned portion of your Pledge shall not be refundable until and unless RSI has failed to deliver the relevant pledge items and/or the Game to you within eighteen (18) months after the estimated delivery date.

Why wouldn't you have first person in space? The whole objective of going to space is finding planets, mining asteroids etc. I don't think astronauts just sit in their seat and fly around, they do things like space walks etc.. So yeah I guess you can call it filler but how can you say that being able to board a persons ship and take it over in a fire fight is a bad thing? Or land on a planet get in your scout car and explore?

Im buying this compared to CrapXXL and Simcity this looks much better. Paradox usually does great with things you can do in a game but usually the games are pretty buggy for awhile. Least that's been my experience with them

Sims 3 sold 1.4 million copies in the first week, Sims 4 on the other hand took over 4 months to clear that. Granted 1.4 million isn't bad for most games in 4 months but that's EA for you.

Sounds like Elite Dangerous except you can land on planets and the mining system doesn't make you want to scream. I guess on the bright side this has 270 billion systems where you can explore by actually landing on a crappy looking planet and mining or building something on it. Instead of flying by a sun that looks like all the other suns.

Its a sweet game Im on my 1st play through in California now. I plan on doing at least 2 more play throughs now that I know exactly how important some skills are and what is effective in combat. I also want to do another play through with all animal tamers and long ranged rangers. A group of melee with explosives would probably be pretty fun and pretty damn hard.

Yeah its stupid to trust in a company that is crowd funded and gives regular development updates with modules you can try for yourself! I like the old EA approach of showing cut scenes that have nothing to do with game play in fancy 150$ collector edition boxes. Companies that don't put out demo's of their product before a game is released etc etc. Talk about sheep.

There's a demo of the game? How odd! I've only heard there's a hangar module and little space arena to fly around in. I didn't realize the game was finished and there was a demo for it. Direct us to it will you.

Wry

You can't have a demo of a game when the game isn't done my god man. You can have demo's of parts of the game that are ready. For example space combat, and soon the FPS part of the game. Like I said this game shows more of the true game to people that are interested than most games published by companies like EA. But its cool Cutter, your probably some EA tool that wants to keep the money coming to the publisher instead of the game creators.

Lol, keep rationalizing away fanboy. Oh man, you and your ilk are just sad. Laughable too. Heh.
If saying that I like regular updates and being able to try parts of a game as its being developed makes me a fan boy then I guess I am.
I don't know how you can say that putting out content to be played before a game is released is a bad thing. Do you support the old school method of spending 60$ on a game that you know nothing about besides what the publisher feeds you in CGI cut scenes?
