Yeah, I'm waiting until Factions to get back in...

I've been completely swamped in school stuff. End of the semester kind of deal. I log in once in a very long while, but I really don't had time for anything right now.

By the time Factions comes out I should have the free time to spend some time with it.

The Active Denial thing for crowd control looks interesting too. It basically makes someone feel like they've been lit on fire without actually doing it. They say it causes no permanent damage, if thats true it could be very effective.

I took a quick glance at the script and it doesn't appear to filter out posts with Starforce, but instead replaces the word 'Starforce' with 'BOOBIES' throughout the post. So I would guess that if Camaro is running the script he would see your post as:

"Camaro - what's the BOOBIES Filter? Filter out posts with BOOBIES in the subject?

Camaro has a firefox greasemonkey script around that you can configure to block people on Blues. I don't have a link for it, but if you look around you might find it.

A while back (I believe) someone posted a link to a program for testing RAM. Can someone repost that link?

I found Memtest86... is that it?

As long as the devs give you an option to TURN THE SHIT OFF, what's the big deal?

Its off on my computer. I actually liked how HDR looked, in lost coast. But on some of the new level releases, I wasn't impressed, and I wasn't impressed with the noticeable hit on performance that it caused. My PC is more than 2 years old now though, so I wasn't surprised to see this happen.

I agree, though. There is no cause to complain if you can turn it off. As for servers forcing HDR on: I'd notice right away and play somewhere else, simple as that. I haven't seen any servers forcing it on though.

the board is still there but you seriously need to change your profile pic. As you say, too big. You are also listed as a member, so try again. Maybe it'll work this time.

From the very top of the test:
In the first major trial using the test, the average score in the control group was 16.4. Eighty percent of those diagnosed with autism or a related disorder scored 32 or higher.

I scored 16. So I'm completely average.

But how many hours? Huh? HUH? /age! Doooo iiiiit!

I'm thinking I should put a price tag on this information. Maybe I'll tell you if you.. I donno, buy me fissure armor or something. Nah. I probably wouldn't want to find out even then.

As far as Xfire goes, I have considered it. But not seriously enough to actually get and try it. If our guild turned into the type of guild that would get together and pvp or something, I could see it being useful.

Although.. that one time we DID gvg, we totally killed that crappy guild. Was very fun.

And (while other may disagree) some missions simply cannot be done w/ just bots

Lach is one who would disagree. AFAIK, he beat the whole game with bots.

Myself, I love this game, even though the many hours I have put into it means that some of the original missions are getting old. Its one of those games that are easy to learn and difficult to master. I have my marksman ranger down, but if I have a long way to go to make an effective beast mastery ranger.

But I agree, its not for everyone. If you DO enjoy it though, there is an awful lot of depth in the classes/skill combos.

The char slots do suck. And since they're charging full price for the "add-on", I don't see why we're not getting another 4 slots (which you get IF you don't link your Factions account your original GW account).

Agreed. Totally. The fact that they are saying if you buy the CE of the expansion you can get two more char slots is just a slap in the face if you ask me.

Oh man, it was sweet. Worked a charity gig last night and all the NHL alumni were there. Ended up getting ploughed with Dave Hutchison and Bob Probert. Heh, it was funny when I first met Bob, threw up my dukes and said 'Hey Bobby, ready to get 'er goin'?' He howled with laughter. Met Borje Salming, Wendel Clarke, Peter Zezel, Darryl Sittler and the list goes on and on. Very cool night.

Wow, very cool. That must have been something else.

Interesting point of view on the role of games, especially concerning the part of the player as being actively creative while playing the game.

The second to last paragraph made me think he was talking about Spore:

Soon games will start to build simple models of us, the players. They will learn what we like to do, what we're good at, what interests and challenges us. They will observe us. They will record the decisions we make, consider how we solve problems, and evaluate how skilled we are in various circumstances. Over time, these games will become able to modify themselves to better "fit" each individual. They will adjust their difficulty on the fly, bring in new content, and create story lines. Much of this original material will be created by other players, and the system will move it to those it determines will enjoy it most.

At the least, in that video that nin linked to a while back where Wright talked about Spore, he used very similar language when talking about how the game would react to the player.

I enjoyed the comic. I dont buy the whole anarchist thing, but the story was good and well told.

I havent seen the movie, but I'm interested. It's a given that they won't be true to the comic in the movie, Hollywood has always felt that it can take artistic liberties wherever it sees fit... even if it means watering down the message, or changing the message completely.

This is a big reason for me for why I loved Sin City so much. The fact that they shot the movie using the comic books as storyboards is so cool, and when the movie was finished it retained the feel of the comic books... what I liked about the comic I liked about the movie.

thats ALL I had last night. Bout 30 bucks worth of Guinness.

Bummer, only 4 beers?

When I lived in Chicago there was a place about 15 minutes away where you could get a Guinness for $3.50, and every year in the month leading up to St. Patty's Guinness went for $2.50. Damn fine beer that doesn't hurt you in the pocket book, I loved it.

Nevermind all that, somebody get me a Guinness!

You can have mine...I can't stand the stuff...

Blasphemy! I'm torn between running to find a lynching mob to, well, lynch you, or getting that Guinness for myself.

I'll take the Guinness.

I don't want us to come out like we're on some sort of anti-copy protection crusade. We just don't think CD copy protection is an effective means to increase sales.

I'm impressed by Stardock, they seem to have their heads on straight. Its refreshing to see a company with such simple respect for the consumer.
