For all those in one of the WoW servers that are constantly down, Penny Arcade sent some pretty direct questions to Blizzard and got some answers. A good read while you are waiting in the queue line.

Yeah that is a damnable heresy but I completely understand. Can you believe the owners turned down a 24% pay cut for all players? WTF? Players are obviously willing to do anything to avoid a salary cap. Seriously the NHL is fine, the players are fine, we are the only ones getting screwed.

Ask people in the publishing industry; they use textbook profits to pay for less commercially successful things they want to do

Thats true, but its not the college/university textbooks that we are talking about that are the moneymakers you are talking about. It's the elementary level textbooks, the high school textbooks that are produced in mass quantities and dont require as much expertise to write that are the real moneymakers. Publishers work hard to make sure school districts stay with their textbooks... there is a lot of money in that.

God no.

See, the problem is, I have Pirates installed and am waiting on the first patch before I install Vampire. And I keep thinking "I'll play Pirates for awhile, and then go back to HL2." But Pirates NEVER GETS PLAYED

When you do get around to it, let me know how it is. I'm very interested in pirates but am very poor (student). Sid Meier is a genius... I want to know if this lives up to its' heritage.

Canadian Bacon quote:
"The Canadians. They walk among us. William Shatner. Michael J. Fox. Monty Hall. Mike Meyers. Alex Trebek. All of them Canadians. All of them here."

We walk among you unseen. :p

One thing I am wondering about HL2 SST:

SST:
The games seems to be linear. Even though the pace of the game makes it feel very organic, like you are making these decisions on your own, if you hold up look around you'll find that you are very much confined to a single route.

SST a bit more spoilerish:
Anyone else noticed the spraypaints on the wall? Alot of them are resistance stuff, but one in particular got me wonderin. It has three heads, showin the anatomy of em, a monkey, a man and a combine soldier. There is a lot in the game left to be answered but I was wondering what they were implying there.. and why it was a spray.

edit: Im just full of secrets today..

This happens right at the beginning, but I thought it was absolutely great SST: The guard that drops the can on the ground and makes you pick it up. I so wanted to beat him with it or something, but really its just a great little instance of the way hl2 draws you in and makes you interact with the world instead of just fighting in it.

Jeez it is easy to propagandize people.
Trolling on veteran's day/remembrance day? Have a little respect...

Im not sure how it is in the U.S. but for us in Canada its about the end of World War I and World War II.

11th minute of the 11th hour of the 11th month of the year. Spend a minute in silence and remember those who died and think never again.

So are you saying that you managed to get to the 5th screen then? Because I haven't.

No, I cant figure out the fourth screen. I've gotten to the point where it asks me for the username/password but I cant figure the riddle.

Made it to 4th screen too. Found the place to enter password, but there must be something better than guessing username/password repeatedly.

I've had a minor gameplay bug, not a gamestopper though. The game seems stable to me other than that minor issue.

Anyone need/want a gmail account? Between my wife and myself we have 3 accounts available.

Post a reply here if you want, along with an email address (obfusicated if you wish, just make sure I can deobfusicate) for me to send the invite to.

If its still available, I'd like one.
Not that anyone cant see this, but I can pretend.

Back to being Space FedEx in X2

I played X2 for about a 1/2 hour before getting horribly fed up with the slow pace and the convoluted controls. I was very dissapointed as I was looking forward to flying around a battleship and attacking space stations. I actually went back to freelancer for a little quick and dirty dogfight fun. Maybe freelancer spoiled me, but do I really want to sit for 5 minutes waiting as my craft limps across a system? Give me a trade lane already.

Give me x2's freedom, and freelancer's pace and controls and I'll have a great game.

You know that speed reading is propaganda right? You think it is an accident that a speed reading site, guaranteed to be visited by young men with a competitive instinct, find a speech that could be an induction into the military speech as the reading material?

Why wasn't it from the news? Why wasn't it from a novel? Why wasn't it from a magazine? Why did it not concern computers as it is on the internet?

Uhh.. I got an excerpt from a novel
