Morphine -

I too was getting all kinds of errors during the FP signup. That's just the way popular open betas are. I was able to get past the errors by (1) making sure I was signed in to FP with my gamespy ID (2) filling out the form and submitting it over and over again, sometimes with multiple browser windows and (3)getting past the graphic / "enter what you see on the screen" part by doing basically the same as #2.

The last screen in the FP signup process had "Your unique World of Warcraft Open Beta key is:", which is definitely for creating my WOW account.

There was no key at the end of the signup process

There was for me. At the end of the FilePlanet signup you should have reached the Congrats page that had the key along with the link to download the install from FilePlanet. An email is also sent, which has the same key.

You do get a verification email, but just repeats the information that you get when you sign up. Hopefully you saw your account key at the end of the signup and copied/pasted it somewhere.

FilePlanet suxxors unless you paid them $... way too many errors with their fancy ActiveX control crap. I gave up on them and are using the torrent from the worldofwarcraft.com page. A 30k/sec download is better than no download at all.

I just found a very amusing little web-based game I wanted to share with you guys. You pretend to be a user trying to access the normal functions of a web site that supposedly exists to service a high number of people. But instead, you get a variety of interesting errors over and over again. Eventually the game ends because the thing you wanted in the first place is no longer available.

I'm not sure what the point of the game is, but it's a good way to waste ten minutes of your life.

I just played that game and made it to the next level before the zone crashed. For my efforts, I received an "E-peen of bragging rights" and a "Key of Activation". Unfortunately, the next level is hell. Mouse-clicking skills have been nerfed and the spawn is camped, although the party waiting in line ahead of me says I'll be able to try to kill the DL giant in 108 minutes. I heard the battle against the DL giant can take hours, assuming no one tries to gank and force me to start over again.

Not only that, but even after I beat the DL giant, supposedly I'll still need to defeat the DL giant's son, "Patch". That'll take freaken years with all these newbs trying to beat Patch at the same time, using a pitiful sword of torrent -1. Right now I'm so far away from that level don't want to think about it.

But seriously, I heard that Blizz will be handing out more OB spots after FP runs out. They're probably trying to do it in batches to avoid slamming the server to the point where no one can play.

Woah, this should be a big thread. Even though I was never a big fan of the DX or Thief series, it's tough to see big names exit to take on lesser roles in the industry. Good luck Warren. Maybe launch some rockets?

The costs of development and payment to the publisher come to mind for the cost of the box. There's a subscription profit as well, but that's not always guaranteed and the payout isn't as quick. I wonder if publishers usually get a cut of subscriptions..

I believe they have limited posting to users with an active EQ2 account.

Still no posts.. people are supposed to be able to play today, right? It's definitely a much quieter release day than EQ was.

There will be year long subscribers for WoW just as there are year long subscribers for EQ. Everyone piles into the best MMORPG out there and many keep paying their monthly fees until the next big MMORPG comes along. Very few will go back to the old ones like EQ or DAoC (talk about running out of things to do, try going back to something you got bored of after trying something better.. yuck). Many will be turned off by the raw state of EQ2.

No, it doesn't have anything to do with that. If they don't vote it's their own fault.

Very true. They had a chance to vote and did not, even after seeing how close the 2000 election was. Whether Bush or Kerry won, they had no input on the result and in my opinion are the real "sheep". You want the country to care about you? Then start caring about the country and vote.

I respectfully disagree Zathrus. Ohio is no where near the victory margins of Florida. Florida's margin was hundreds of votes. Ohio is tens of thousands. There is a margin when you concede and a margin where you think you have a decent chance (not via mathmatical calculations assuming 80-95% of provisional/absentee ballots) to win. This is not 2000.

However, I have no problem taking time to verify the votes and make sure every vote is counted. I'm also not going to send any insults to the people who voted for Kerry or people that want to create their own liberal state. Take a deep breath and prepare to move on. More people voted in this election than ever before.

Exactly.

Ohio

George W. Bush (i) Rep 2,794,346 - 51 percent
John F. Kerry Dem 2,658,125 - 49 percent

Popular vote

Bush 51% 58,148,236
Democrat Kerry 48% 54,610,010

Come on Kerry, this isn't Florida. Bush has won the popular vote, highest count ever. Bush has a 136,221 vote lead in Ohio. The election was not stolen. It is done. For the good of the country, just admit it.

Your right Joe Blow, what was I thinking. 9/11 was the beginning of a plot for world domination by the U.S. It all makes sense now. Thank you for educating the ignorant masses.

Venkman: This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.
Mayor: What do you mean, biblical?
Ray: What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor... real Wrath-of-God-type stuff. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies.
Venkman: Rivers and seas boiling!
Egon: 40 years of darkness, earthquakes, volcanos.
Winston:The dead rising from the grave!
Venkman: Human sacrifice, dogs and cats, living together... mass hysteria!
