just some food for thought.
I may not have specific figures or anything but just think about it for a minute.
Two days before doom 3 was realsed it was put on the torrent scene. Over tens of thousands of people were downloading it as I remember because even the news had a little covereg on it because the ammount of people that were trying to get a hold of the game early.
Now lets say those numbers are exagerated and drop them down to 5,000 (which is way low). Now whats 5,000 X $50? thats $250,000 dollars that they could have possibly made if the game wasnt able to be pirated.
Now thats no small chunk of change and could you imagine if every company who released a game lost this much or more every time? Now you can see why they scream and shout about it so much. It way not be the leading factor to why this industry inst in the same shape it was years prior but its definitely a mitigating factor and for anyone to say its not is an idiot.
Now I am not saying piracy is going to stop but if they wanna try to put a dent in it let them try.This comment was edited on May 24, 07:52.
