As retarded as it sounds I'm going to buy this for the singleplayer aspect. The moment I heard they weren't incorporating some of United Offensive's multiplayer features I lost interest in that side of the game, though I'll still be giving it a try once I buy it.
I've been waiting for a game that was kind of like Battlefield 2 except geared for singleplayer and I think this sort of fits the bill judging by the demo. Despite the mindless shooting gallery feel, the actual combat ended up being more satisfying that a couple of deeper, yet for the most part just as linear, shooters I've played since August. Given the way I play games, there's no way I won't finish by the time my next game comes out on the 16th.
And with any luck, COD4 multiplayer will end up growing on me. Everyone seems to think it's pretty good, but I don't have a 360 so the beta was a no-no for me. If anything, I wish they'd stuck with a good old rifle bash instead of a knife thrust, but that's just asthetics I guess.
*sigh* Thirty more hours until I can buy it. Argh.
