I'm actually surprised more kickstarters don't set the bar low like that to guarantee they can get at least some money.

That second kickstarter has a $10,000 pledge option.

This is actually the first I've heard of this. I never knew PA had this much baggage in the trunk! Never was a fan of online "comic" strips but I dodged a bullet with this one. Shame, too, since PA always sounded like a cool expo.

Talk about a team wipe. I like the revived engineer who was going for the point blank RPG shot and still got wasted.

That video is almost as much of an indictment against the Metro map as it is lack of VOIP.

DICE. VOIP. Get it right this time.

I didn't automatically understand why the words spoken were such a big deal myself. I had to read further to understand why it might be construed as something more than light smack talk. Now I know not to say that when I play online games.

I dunno, but this seems like a pretty simple concept?

My understanding is that the words in question risk pushing very painful buttons for some people. If you've been told a joke could bring memories of a traumatic experience to the surface and blurt it out in public anyway you're being a petulant child.

The law protects these jokes, but that does not mean they should be encouraged.

Can't speak for GoW2, but I can't honestly see how Call of Duty 5 could be better than L4D. Unless it offers more than ten hours of quality singleplayer then to me it's nothing more than a TC of Call of Duty 4. Given its going price of $49.99, it seems more like WaW is the ripoff here.

Smart move on Crytek's part. I'm really hoping they'll take all the good parts of Crysis, drop the less enticing ones, and merge it into a more cohesive package this time. This holiday season is looking better all the time.

I kinda consider Warhead to be Crytek's chance to get it right. They acknowledged there were problems with Crysis, now they can fix them and maybe give us the game we wanted the first time around. Fortunately they seem to have a pretty solid, if a bit demanding engine, so hopefully they can focus more on gameplay this time around and give it the attention required. Unless this starts looking like a regressive title the closer we get to release date, I'll probably pick it up too.

Also looking forward to Far Cry 2, though I have to agree with other comments here that it sounds like yet another tech demo. Months to wait still, so we'll see.

I had to repair my install of Crysis through the Add/Remove Programs tool and relocate my edited CVAR folder (used to get some of the DX10 effects under DX9) before this worked. Prior to that, it kept wanting me to insert the DVD, which I already had. I'm glad this worked, because if it'd come to reinstalling the game I would've probably uninstalled and just forgotten about it. I don't have DT or any virtual drive software installed right now.

I installed the ForceWare 169.44 drivers released by nvidida today after the 1.2 patching was completed. All my config settings, such as controls and HUD color, were reset. Save games have loaded fine so far. Haven't tried multiplayer.

As retarded as it sounds I'm going to buy this for the singleplayer aspect. The moment I heard they weren't incorporating some of United Offensive's multiplayer features I lost interest in that side of the game, though I'll still be giving it a try once I buy it.

I've been waiting for a game that was kind of like Battlefield 2 except geared for singleplayer and I think this sort of fits the bill judging by the demo. Despite the mindless shooting gallery feel, the actual combat ended up being more satisfying that a couple of deeper, yet for the most part just as linear, shooters I've played since August. Given the way I play games, there's no way I won't finish by the time my next game comes out on the 16th.

And with any luck, COD4 multiplayer will end up growing on me. Everyone seems to think it's pretty good, but I don't have a 360 so the beta was a no-no for me. If anything, I wish they'd stuck with a good old rifle bash instead of a knife thrust, but that's just asthetics I guess.

*sigh* Thirty more hours until I can buy it. Argh.

People bitching about the demo and people bitching about people bitching about the demo. Lighten up, everyone!

On a more positive note, sincere thanks to those who posted links. At least some of them appear to be viable as of posting this. Not a ton of seeders out there, but enough to get the ball rolling. Danke.

Hopefully this means the game will be coded to crash every ten hours so nobody else ends up playing non-stop until they literally expire.

About the GDP thing: since ours is higher than most nations outside of the West, I'd think the respective absolute amount of money donated would be considerable compared to a nation with a lesser GDP but a higher percentage given.

It's just a friggin' game.

Some people really need to stop hating and/or being so jealous of America. And some Americans need to take a few things in stride. Some of us get so distraught over others ragging on our country to the point we sound little different from those very detractors. Hateful, prejudiced, pissant to a childish extent.

How about we all grow up, okay?

Did they actually refresh the art assets for HL:Source? I would love to play it again if it's been reworked some.

Unfortunately they're not going to be redoing some or most (possibly all) of the art assets. I don't remember the official details about that part so I could be wrong. The main differences between the original and HL:Source that will be noticable are some of the effects the new engine brings to the table. New water effects, physics, lighting, and things like that.

Hopefully there will be a fan project which does spruce up everything. You'd think Valve would take this opportunity to bring HL up to current graphic standards... But then again they've got plenty to do right now.

This assumes the multiplayer levels would be designed with purposefully generating lots of lag in mind. I doubt they'd deliberately generate such an obviously grevious development flaw. If they did do HL2 multiplayer, it seems more likely they'd design the levels with the bandwidth demands in mind.

Or they could all get serious head injuries the night before and do what you said. They should release more info in the coming weeks, so maybe we'll all get to see exactly what they have planned.

I don't believe CS:S has been confirmed as what HL2 multiplayer might be. CS:S is certainly one candidate, but I wouldn't rule out HL2 having its own multiplayer component yet. Anyone who says CS:S is officially the only multiplay HL2 is shipping with needs to post sources or, more likely, get some fresh air.
