That's funny because I haven't purchased an underpowered, poorly supported AMD/ATi product since 2001.

It's silky smooth here on my 970 with everything maxed. Playing at 1080p though.

Likewise. Maybe it's too smooth and that's why I'm getting motion sickness? I'm not experiencing this with any other game that I am currently playing, just this one.

I, too, picked up Dying Light because it was on sale and because I just picked up a 970. I wanted something that I could use to torture the card.

It's certainly pretty but I'm having a problem where I am getting motion sickness playing it. I've got the FOV almost cranked all the way up to the right.

And in any case the hoops you have to jump through seem extremely easy, especially compared to something like rolling back a video driver.

Why should someone who legally purchased a game have to jump through hoops at all, regardless of how easy they may seem?

Which is great.

But what I meant was that if you don't have the Origin version, and instead have the retail version, you have to jump through hoops to get your legally purchased game to run.

Seems like bad form to me.

On the bright side, at least we don't have Starforce around.

Unless the Origin version of the first Mass Effect has removed SafeDisc, anybody wanting to play that are going to be fucked.

Ouch, man. That was brutal. Might as well ask AMD to make a competitive, power conscious processor while we're at it.

Oh right, AMD makes CPUs. Totally forgot hooah!

This comment tree makes me SAD... I still run a Phenom 2 X6 and direly regret having chosen this over the I7 ;p But it was literally a third of the price. so competetive in power and performance, no, but in price (both CPU and system components), hell yes.

A Kia Rio is "competitive in price" with a Corvette but, at the end of the day, you're still driving a Kia.

But is it "roguelike"? Can't have a goddamned game without it being "rougelike" now.

News Comments > Master of Orion Video Diary
4. Re: Master of Orion Video Diary Sep 10, 2015, 11:38 Burrito of Peace

The birth of something that defines an industry is not necessarily the first example of that industry. For example, there were cars made before the Model T but it was all the pieces that came together with the Model T that gave birth to the car; unified parts, assembly line production, volume production, durability, reliability, and a price point that the masses could afford.

I played VGA Planets as a kid, as well as other titles. But they all lacked that cohesiveness of parts, the production values, and that je ne sais quoi that Master of Orion had. It just felt and played like a much better game. While other games had 4X components to them, they didn't give birth to the genre like Master of Orion did.

sad story about o'donnell. i've always been slightly in awe of his work. sounds like bungie isn't the company i grew up with anymore either - no more innovative games like marathon or myth. i think jason jones' pure gameplay won out over the story/depth crowd.

Bungie wasn't the same company it was about the time Halo 2 shipped.

When I worked there, during the development of Halo 3, I found Marty to not just be an extraordinarily talented man, but a really nice man as well. He allowed me to sit in as an observer to learn how voice over work was done because I found it fascinating. The little riffs he would come up with just off the top of his head were amazing.

I think it was pretty obvious there were problems afoot when Joe Staten left. While he was one of four people that fleshed out the world of Halo, he was the guy who really held all the ideas.

I interacted with Harold Ryan on a number of occasions and the man was just flat out a dick. Rude and dismissive.

Well with sexual activities you really are just kinda One and Done for the day.

I'm assuming of course people are like me and over 30. Where your sex drive is kinda fading off slightly.

That's just you. It's never "one and done for the day" for me. For an hour, sure. I can sneeze and hit 40 right now, yet my sex drive is higher now than it was when I was in college.
