Wait, what?! When did that become a racist thing? I'm legitimately curious because this is the first I have ever heard of it.

I struggle to agree with someone who finds "Iron Man 2" to be a good movie, haha. That was one of the weakest Marvel films, after the first two Thors.

But War Zone isn't a Marvel movie. It's a movie about a Marvel character, but Marvel didn't make it. Same with the first Hulk.

Iron Man 2 is classic Iron Man and when compared to 3, it comes off as a near masterpiece. Again, in comparison.

Fair enough with Ang Lee's Hulk and Warzone, thought they were both early Marvel Studios movies.

Scored a killer deal last night on an MSI 1660Ti so I ordered it. Should be here tomorrow.

Still waiting for Navi, though. If it is as good as leaks are claiming, I can always recycle the 1660ti into Mrs. Burrito's PC which currently has a 1060 3GB card in it.

I'm getting there too, BoP. I've skipped a couple of the Marvel films.

The Marvel ones are the only ones consistently fun.

In the beginning, I would agree with you. Iron Man 1 and 2 were great then Iron Man 3 happened. GotG 1 was funny and fun, GotG 2 was so mediocre in comparison. Two out of the three Thor movies were underwhelming. Black Panther was also underwhelming. Doctor Strange was completely flat and I blame that on Benedict Cumberbatch who is the whitest dude to ever be white and also one of the blandest actors I've seen on film. The less said about Punisher: War Zone the better. Ray Stevenson can be great (see: "Rome") but he's just not Frank Castle.

The first Captain America movie was stellar. Captain America: The Winter Soldier was decent but the whole subplot of S.H.I.E.L.D. being subverted could have been cut as it was hackneyed. The first Avengers movie was also quite good but the subsequent ones have become ever greater slogs (Hey, look, it's Quicksilver! Oh, wait, nevermind...he's dead, for example).

Do we even need to do anything more than mention Ang Lee's atrocious "Hulk" or "The Incredible Hulk" with Edward Norton?

Ant-man was ridiculously better than it had any right to be. Who doesn't like seeing Evangeline Lily in a catsuit? Paul Rudd was a great casting choice and the expository scenes with Michael Pena were inspired.

Mrs. Burrito had me take her to see Captain Marvel and, because I didn't buy in to any of the social media zeitgeist around it, it was just ok. Incels and SJWs out of the equation, it isn't a particularly remarkable movie.

Marvel movies are uneven and they're just blasting them out so frequently that I'm just no longer that excited about them.

I feel obligated to publish such accounts when companies respond to a breach report in such a way that it’s crystal clear they wouldn’t know what to do with a data breach if it bit them in the nose, let alone festered unmolested in some dark corner of their operations.
And this would be any company that did not have an employee like BoP on the payroll.

Thanks! They could have someone like me on the payroll but, in listening to my peers at conferences and meetups that I go to, what usually is the case is that they have people in upper management who think "the computers" are the equivalent to magic toasters that last forever and are perfect when pulled out of the box. They're unwilling to listen to the facts that "total security" is a myth and that it requires significant investment in manpower, time, and money to install and maintain a reasonably secure data infrastructure. That it is never a "one and done" affair, that security and being agile enough to shift and pivot to address new security threats is a continuously ongoing endeavor, and that it is going to need a steady influx of resources to keep current and performant.

Upper management ignores all that and, when they inevitably get bitten in the ass hard, they start wringing their hands and panicking.

Most data breaches are avoidable but not all. Sometimes you're just going to have bad actors within the system and the best you can do is compartmentalize the problem and isolate it. When that happens, deal with the problem, notify and work with those affected by the breach (the opposite of trying to sweep it under the rug to try and avoid losing face), and do a postmortem on the breach to determine how it happened in the first place and what you can do to prevent a repeat. Then implement what you've learned.

16:10? Those are rookie numbers. If HP wants to impress, they clearly need to release a $430 monitor that is 80:50.

That number sounds right. Do Aces ban and Suppa7's ban count as one (or 2) since they are the same person? /rhetorical

And what I don't get with the Aces account is they created an account just to get banned. Where's the logic in that?

Look, I know I come off as unhinged sometime and I have explained why but I don't think I've ever purposefully decided to be such a raging dick that it warranted bannination. So...thanks Blue?

Liked the visuals but it still seemed rather buggy for a release this soon IMO. Regardless, it's not even close to warranting the $80 they're asking for it. I'm more than content to wait for time/patches/price drop.

$80? Are you talking about regional pricing?

He's talking about Monopoly money aka the Canadian Dollar.

Fuck Windows 10 and Xbox. Fix your shitty fucking "Server" OS so it behaves like an actual server OS that doesn't need updates and reboots every fucking week because Microsoft is apparently too fucking stupid to do something other than monolithic kernels that require updates to services. AMD Radeon VII may experience screen flicker in multi display setups on desktop or while applications are running.

So it's basically unusable? How the hell do you ship a driver with this bug in it?

I don't know, perhaps we can get AMD and Nvidia in the same room and ask them. I have had screen flickering on the last four releases of the GeForce drivers on a 970. This is happening on Windows 10.

I never heard of the Quinault Tribe until i started visiting Ocean Shores WA for vacation several years ago...

And then I discovered Sasquatch summit. A yearly Bigfoot Conference that started a few years back. Its held in November and hosted by the tribe at their casino. Been every year now for the last 5 years.

They have since started a paranormal UFO conference held in march.. not been to that one.

Ah, so they're used to making money off dumb shit. Got it.
Sadly, the Flat Earth symposium is sold out.
On a good note, tickets are still availble for the Hollow Earth huddle.

Reptilian Rigelian Rubric tickets, however, are still not yet on sale.

1. The 1660Ti is my first choice if Navi doesn't pan out as being a compelling competitor to it. Plenty of sites whose reviews I've read shows that it's a screaming GPU for a mid-range card at 1080p with current titles.
2. That is definitely a crystal ball answer and the truthful answer is "I don't know". If CDPR does a good job optimizing C2077, then I would say probably. If they don't, even 2080s might struggle with it on higher settings.

This was a good thread to read. If anything, it reinforced to me that the idea of something like the United Federation of Planets would never work with the human race.

This has NOTHING to do with the UFP. Comparing the politics of a post-scarcity economy without trade nor currency in an entirely different culture based on cooperation with the crapshoot politics of the artificial scarcity economy we have now in a culture based on competition is like trying to compare an orange vs a pigeon.

You miss the point. The point is that humans, as a race, are far, far too self-centered and monetarily oriented in the real world to approach even the nascent idea that would start something like the UFP.

If anything, we're going to end up like the Orions.
