I might suggest some empirical testing.
Take your video card to a friend's house and hook it into their machine. Test BF2 for a while. If it BSOD it is probably the video card.

Then take your friend's video card and put it in your machine and test for a while. If it BSOD's it's probably something on your motherboard or not enough cooling.

agh, I must not have checked my work (I was running late). Sorry, I'll try to fix it tonight.

I see the problem, there's an extra nested directory in the link for some reason. If you take out one of the "eq2" in the link, the images will probably work.

You all don't undertsand. The new expansion will leak memory thrice as fast (Yes I used the word thrice) on the servers. It's a FEATURE DAMMIT!

Leaking about 4k every 2-3 seconds on my server when it's empty (which is pretty much always). When I checked it this morning, the dedicated server piece was using 700Megs of memory. That was amusing. Easiest fix is to just stop the game server and restart it.

PC-Cillin from TrendMicro allows you to turn off all those messages. (www.trendmicro.com)

Plus it wouldn't surprise me if there was an option to do that with your other choices somewhere in all those menus.

The reality of FPS PC gamming is patches! Sometimes they get it right with the first patch, although I can't really think of one of these times

Return to Castle Wolfenstein did I believe. One of the bigger problems (clipping and getting stuck in walls) was resolved in the first patch and, as far as I remember, there weren't any major issues after that.

Of course, it's been nearly 4 years since that game was released so my memories are probably cloudy.

The game is about capturing and holding flags. The Commander and his tools should simply be seen as another player in the game, usually one with a worse score than everyone else by the way. If the Commander role was stronger then I'd agree with you.

You haven't played against a good Commander. Those arty strikes are murder sometimes. The really cagey ones start calling arty as soon as one of their flags go gray

Spec Ops currently *don't* get points for blowing up enemy equipment, which is the point of the post. They should get points for it, but they don't. Seems worth including in a patch.

If it helps (but it doesn't I'm sure), I agree completely. I also think a person should be given bonus points for taking out the enemy commander.

I think a lot of the stuttering might be attributed to the server's themselves. Some of these places might be trying to bite off more than they can chew.

The effort to run a 64 player server is a noble cause indeed because my M249 needs more targets (similar to how Walken needs MORE COWBELL!) but if it can't do it just fess up and scale it back some (Gamespy Arena, ECG, and ArtofWar I'm looking at you!). The netcode could also be sloppy and not handle it very well. I have been on a few 64 player servers that do run fine but often if there's one person with an abnormally large ping it impacts everyone.

Regardless, it's a pretty fun game but Kubra Dam and Fushe Pass stink as far as maps go.

Perhaps some people need to realize that a T1 or less line will not support a 64 player map.

If anyone's interested I have this game running on my server. 32 players max.

I hear Jar Jar takes a saber blade in the left eye socket, giving him an instant lobotomy...

Oh yeah, well I heard that Palpatine kicks 'em in the groin and then ties 'em up and starts torturing him like in Reservoir Dogs.

Palpatine then starts singing and dancing and the entire Imperial Senate is his background dancers. Ebert called it the best musical since "South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut."

Hmmm so we have...

- Wooden acting and dialog ("But i want to go to Tashi station and get some power converters!" *laughably bad*)

- Saber fights

- Wookies

- Special effects

- Over the top bad guys

- Clone Troopers

Yup, sounds like Star Wars to me and ain't nothing wrong with it! Deliciously fun.

Yes, I like Serious Sam, but it's not exactly a cerebral exercise.

RTR (Rome Total Realism)

Having not played Rome in a while I'm curious as to what this is and I'm being a lazy bastard by not googling (hey it's Friday, whatcha want?) So if you'd be so kind, what's this RTR thing that I hear all the little people chattering about in their bizarre native tongue?

What this world needs is a new A-10 flight simulator. 150 feet abover ground level at 300MPH, watch the 30MM rounds blow up the tanks in the Fulda Gap. Now that's flying. Fly-by-wire fancy boy F-16, BAH!

Creston, obviosuly you were too sober while playing the game. Didn't you read the game requirements:

Pentium III or better
directX 8.0 or better required
64Mb graphics card recommended for best perfrmance
256Megs RAM
A LAN hook up to play Co-op cause that's where it's at.
Alcoholic beverages to make the game more silly and fun than it already is.

You don't follow the instructions and you see the performance issues you described. I'm sure it's in the FAQ at Croteam's site.
