OH MY GOD. Just let MMORPGs die! I can't wait to see this game cancelled come Mid-2006.

I mean really, I think everyone's just about fed up of paying to work. Just see yesterday's Somethingawful.com Lowtax rant on MMORPGs. Aren't games supposed to be fun?

This is where Guild Wars will succeed (It's a self-billed CORPG) and others (like WOW) will fail.

For all those of you who're planning on playing World of Warcraft and expect a casual gamer friendly title - give up now. It's power gamer oriented, and the entire game plays worse than even Lineage 2. At least you didn't spend half your time playing dying and running back to your corpse in that game.

Just wait on Guild Wars.

Stop whining about the graphics. The gameplay more than makes up for it.

Isn't it obvious? Gaben couldn't have been his password. If the hacker (or cracker, if you prefer) admitted to hacking/cracking his password, he'd be in for a lot more trouble than the simple guessing of a password - so he (the hacker) made up a lie about how he simply guessed Gabe Newell's password, making Gabe look stupid in the process. I'm sure he also changed the password to gaben for the site admins to 'verify' it as such.

But think about it, if you run an IPForum (or any other forum software) you'll realize that even if you have administrative powers, there's just no way to 'check' what a person's password is unless you ask the person for it - as it's encrypted both internally and externally, for obvious security reasons; a lot of people use the same passwords for their other accounts as they do on most forums. If an administrator managed to find out what someone's password was on his forum he could just as easily abuse his powers by accessing that person's e-mail accounts and so forth.

Besides, Gabe Newell's original e-mail password (before the HL2 Beta leak) used to be alahrairah2002 (a reference to Watership Down). Hardly as simple and idiotic as 'gaben'.

I still like the Stargate SG-1 series and the Canadian scientist guy in the new Atlantis show cracks me up. I'm not fond of the leader, though - she's annoying, especially in that episode where she brought up the Geneva convention and the guy told her to STFU.

As for the game - I don't have any hopes for it. It's made by some unknown company with only a shareware Pinball game under their belt. JoWood's obviously skimping on this one, much like Simon & Schuster did with the Farscape game.

I don't think that Stargate SG-1 makes a good setting for an FPS, either. Hell, most episodes don't even have combat in them.

If anything, the setting would have been a lot better for an RPG in the vein of Fallout or KOTOR, or a tactical turn-based game like Silent Storm, Jagged Alliance 2, or better yet - X-Com. Heh, imagine the possibilities: returning to the SGC with a bunch of alien weaponry, for research.

Sigh. I hope JoWood decides to do something better with the license after this crap.

Awwww yeah. Lived up to my expectations and THEN some! Who would have thought that Dungeon Keeper and Austin Powers would make a great couple? They're happily married and their kid's name is Evil Genius.

Great stuff.

Are you a plant from a rival company?

In any case, the reason Metal Fatigue never got any support was because the publisher refused to support it. Hardly the Developer's fault.

MEO is probably well on its way to getting canned. The recent firings at VU affected it tremendously, and from what I've heard, VU's trying to sell what they have of it to another publisher.

Look at that. Whoopee. A lockpick interface that just so happens to be exactly like Thief 3's - with the graphics changed.

<i>"MISSISSAUGA, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 18, 2004--Hip Interactive Corp. (TSX: HP - News), Canada's leading provider of electronic entertainment products, including video games and accessories, PC games and movies, today announced it has signed a deal to publish worldwide the highly anticipated stealth game, Stolen(TM), which is expected to release in March 2005. Hip Interactive owns all rights to the multi-format game and property, seeing it as a perfect fit with its Hip Games(TM) catalogue."</i>

I mean, really. Who's actually 'highly anticipating' this title? What a silly press release. I hadn't heard about the game until I read this. I can't say I've ever heard of the 'world-class' developer Blue52, either. What games have they worked on?

<i>Stolen(TM) is a realistic, third-person, stealth-based, action game starring a high-tech female thief, who is slated to become a long-term gaming icon. The fast-growing stealth segment generated some of 2003's biggest hits and clearly has a genuine worldwide appeal. Competing in this latest genre as innovative high-tech stealth/robbery game, Stolen(TM) will generate great interest from gamers worldwide thanks to its stunning looks and captivating gameplay.</i>

This sounds like bandwagon hopping, to me. What is it with developers, cloned games and uncreative ideas these days? For once I'd like to see something new, instead of the same old crap that's been done 10 times better by the original games.

The only RTS's im looking forward to are Rome: Total War, WH40K: Dawn of War and Soldiers: Heroes of WW2 which is more of a squad-level game, very similar to Syndicate and Syndicate Wars, with a lot more tactical options.

This game is like crap in comparison. Hasn't it been done before? Savage? Meh. That game was pretty bad, too - a long way away from the glory that was Battlezone.

You can't compare the two games. FOT is simplistic, and this was a few years AFTER Jagged Alliance 2 had come out. No comparison. S3 wins, hands down.

I don't know about that, Kaptin. I don't think Valve can hold them to such an agreement. If that were the case, it may very well spell disaster for every Source (announced and unannounced) game currently in development, especially if Valve decides to postpone the game by another two years.

Shane DeFreest of Activision said that Vampire: bloodlines will be released on time this year no matter what Valve decides to do, so I don't think Valve has any right to be the first Source game out and force everyone else to suspend their titles - it wouldn't be ethical and they'd have to pay those companies a lot of money for the forced extensions.

Bloodlines and Stalker are going to bring gaming back to the PC. I don't care much for Doom 3, though - having played a bit of the beta, it seems rather boring.

If Half Life 2 comes out any time this year, we'll get that as well.

Deus Ex: IW was by far the worst triple-A title FPS this year. Painkiller beats by a mile, and Painkiller isn't too great, either. I hope that whoever called it the best FPS of the year was being sarcastic, because it was the absolute opposite of 'best'.

Is it any surprise that Eidos is taking Deus Ex out back and raping it mercilessly? After the recent firings at Ion Storm, I have no question about their intentions to drive their games completely towards the console market. What's worse is how they're focusing on dumbed-down 'action' games (read: gauntlet-simplicity) instead of smarter ones like Pandora Tomorrow and Beyond Good and Evil like Ubisoft.
