Nope. Starforce is still in. I can verify. Uses a newer version now, doesn't even tell you you're installing it - but you'll detect it if you use SFClean.
I'm not buying this game, so it isn't my problem, plant. It's yours for failing to get anyone to buy it. Now run along back to your viral marketing company and get the fuck outta here.
WoW is garbage. I hope that the EQ 'uberguild' losers (in all their fat, greasy, basement dwelling glory) enjoy it, because I'm not going to play it. Guild Wars, on the other hand is something I'm looking forward to playing.
Hey, if Troika didn't totally fuck up ToEE (with the exception of the EXCELLENT combat, everything else sucked, including whatever mess that caused the game to slow down a lot on my P4EE) they'd probably be given the leeway to create a new Turn Based game. Oh, if only they didn't fuck up so badly.
Well, the game is rubbish. It used to be good, but now it's just an EQ clone, and it's becoming more and more like EQ with every successive patch. Working as intended, hah. Take that, weak, useless warriors!
Starforce can go fuck itself, and so can this game for using it.
You're better off downloading this game instead. As a principle you shouldn't buy any games that use Starforce. Those things are more illegal than piracy, for the fact that they completely invade your privacy and there's no EULA regarding their 'silent' installation on your computer.
Dungeon Lords will most likely blow. There can only be one reason why the demo was pulled from release (it was due Sept 1) just a day before it was supposed to come out. The publisher was apparently very unhappy with the demo and the negative impact it would have brought the game prior to its release, so they pulled it.
As for Seal of Evil, it might not be the next incarnation of Baldur's Gate but it's definitely a little promising.
Just checked it out. It's not bad. Not worth buying for 50 dollars, though, but I doubt it'll cost that much when it comes out. I'm guessing it'll be in the 20-30 range, in which case I'll probably grab it since the only other RPGs coming out this year are Seal of Evil and Vampire Bloodlines.
There's really nothing else, and the demo wasn't bad. I'm hoping that the full game will offer more role-playing choices in between the hacking & slashing.
It wears down my drive, and I don't like that. Loading times are always a bitch because they ruin whatever immersion you have with the game. XIII is a good example of how gameplay can be completely ruined through the need of constant disc-swapping (due to some lame StarForce copy protection).
As for Valve, it's clear that they're out to fuck VU. Just take a look at their Gold package and compare it to VU's Collector's Edition. The CE doesn't even get DOD Source. You even get access to their back catalog, which the CE (which undoubtedly costs more) does not offer.
How god-damned lame is that? 6 cds for retail? It's amusing that a game like Silent Hill 4 (a console port) can come out on a DVD but these imbeciles still insist on releasing their games on 6 fucking cds. I'm getting the Standard Edition retail box from ATI for free but there's no way in hell I'm waiting for that to arrive just so I can use 6 freaking cds. While I have most of the game preloaded on STEAM (the 4th preload wont start) I admit that I'll have to get myself a burned copy of the DVD because swapping 6 cds is just plain asinine. I would think that the days of Baldur's Gate's 5-cd installation were over. Apparently they aren't. I wonder what makes the publishers (in this case VU) think that people who are buying HL2 aren't going to have DVD-ROMs on their systems anyway.
As for the STEAM packages - what the hell is this bullshit? DOD Source and HL Source should be free, FFS.
It seems to me like Valve is intentionally putting out these STEAM package deals just to screw over Vivendi Universal. People would look at the contents of their Standard Edition retail package and they'll likely cancel their preorders just to get the Silver Package, which is most probably going to cost the same price, or slightly more than the Standard Edition retail.
The game's pretty crappy in comparison to the two other other RTS's: Dawn of War & Rome Total War. There's Battle for middle Earth just looming on the horizon, so it's a good idea to pick those instead of Kohan II. The game itself is fine and all, but it doesn't really compare to those other titles and the single player campaign, although supposedly 25 missions long - will last for less than 8 hours.
