a bunch of people, myself included, have reported the starforce posting to the ESA. Hopefully a ton of legal compensation shit will land on their desks soon.
BTW Galciv2 is a GREAT game. buy it because its good, dont just buy it BECAUSE it has no DRM. There are plenty of non DRM games, including mine. This is just a big budget one.

They are just hoping to milk the customers for a ferengi add-on, a klingon add-on etc etc. It's too blatant for my liking, and I wont bother And Im trekkie enough to have a klingon dagger as a letter opener.

WTF does "triple A" mean anyway? thats just BUll. Is GalCiv2 triple A? or is it only two and a half A? What twaddle!

it doesnt matter if its the most original take on WW2 ever. I've played so many WW2 games now I feel I know Normandy better than my local supermarket.

I know what you mean, its the first game ive bought without a demo in a LONG time. I dont think there is one yet, but they may be working on one.
So far Ive read nothing but exceptional reviews, and personally, I love it.

just getting the patch now, although to be honest i dont spend any time on the cosmetics of my ships, i want victories not a beauty show! Although it does inspire me a bit to tear apart starship tycoon and redo it as the uber ship-building game it should have been.
Devs in ALL companies should show up on their own forums and ask for genuine feedback. Ive been doing that for years with my stuff, and I know that gamners really appreciate it.

eh? so a bigger game is better? where do you get that idea from.
Ive played Lux more than I played Daikatana, funny,m because Daikatana was 500 times bigger.
I'd rather all games get squashed down as much as possible. no FMV or stupid spoken tutorials please, we can all READ.

I actually thought steam was a lot easier, this was a confused mess of separate accounts and serials emails and passwords, but it all worked out in the end, and it was hugely less grief than going to a store and paying for parking.
Im very happy with the game too, it deserves to do well, although it is a bit like crack cocaine (so I hear).
Those poxy 3 headed aliens are so easy to crush though bwahahahahahahahahahaha

I also worked for a mom n pop bedroom-started company once, called lionhead. they got real big, but if I had to buy shares in lionhead or stardock right now, Id be betting on GalCiv2. Its superb.
I did get the patch, but if anything it crashes more now, although thanks to the autosave its not a disaster. Seems to happen occasionally at the galactic council screen doodad.

Never played MOO (yeah so sue me) But this game is very cool. My only moment of frustration was working out what codes to put where etc to actually buy the thing (got it online), but once you get going its cool. I'm not sure what the repercussions are for eradicating any native aliens on the worlds you colonise is, but I just know that bad karmas gonna have some payback...

yes agreed, although I dont see anything in the add-on to tempt me. EE2 is VERY customisable, and the GUI doesnt take up 90% of the screen

publicity for this game has been really low, and the atari forums for it fairly dead. Suprising, because they have a history of good games. I hope for the developers sake this pulls in some sales, but I'm tilting towards GalCiv 2 instead...

God bless all you people buying direct, i think i might do the same. I take exactly the same approach with my games and DRM, and thats when it REALLY grates to see pirated copies ;(
To those playing the full game, is this something thats easy to 'get into' or does it involves thousands of hours of play to get your head around?

that must be a publishing deal restriction. It must grate on a lot of buyers that the online version isn't cheaper. I think this might be the next game I invest in...

I have to admit I've seen no problems so far with the new patch. For me the best thing is that you can actually shoot down aircraft now on occasion. Planewhoring was becoming stupidly tedious, now I'd suggest its about right.
Having bought, and then uninstalled Special Forces, I may skip the new packs though. I didnt think that SF had enough in it to make it worthwhile.
I still dont see why there arent any modded levels for BF2??

I'd love this game to be great, but reading the blurb give me te impression that itll be a simplistic XBox game ported to the PC.
I would LOVe to do a top down 2D star trek tactical game, like Starfleet Command. Sadly, the land of big biz means I'd need to make it a 'triple A' title, and have millions of dollars to get the licence. I dont see why they cant just make the licence available to everyone? what would be so bad about every developer that had some trekkies working on their idea of the ultimate Trek RTS?
man, I'd love to have the Trek,Star Wars or Dr Who licence...

"For those of you bitching about Perry's attitude, wake the hell up! That is why he is rich and you are a loser. When you get up to that level, you have to deal with a certain type of person. Those people all talk exactly like Perry, if not 10 times worse. Doesn't Derek Smart talk like that? "

This is true. I worked for Demis hassabis and Molyneux. Some people bitch about their bragging and their exxageration, and sometimes with good reason, but like em or hate em, both guys knew how to get headlines. So much of making money from games is getting exposure, and the big loud brash personalities that say outrageous crap generate great news items. Whether you like or hate people like this, they are doing their job (generating PR for their games) and doing it very well. If Derek Smart was a timid quiet guy, he wouldnt get 1/10th of the coverage, or the sales.

Yeah thats me.
The kudos thing is optional though. You can play the game forever as a sandbox, without worrying about kudos. Its not so much being cool, but being good at socialising. Getting a group of 6 people together to play football who all get on well together, and do so when you are in a great mood and the sun is shining, will earn kudos.
Persuading your friends to come to a restuarant thats got terrible reviews, when you are miserable, and they all hate chinese food anyway, will lose you kudos.
It's just a way to track how well you socialise, and how cleverly you play the game.
