Hmmm I agonised a lot about the length of the demo, but its too early to have enough feedback on the length of it yet. I can always change it later.

you are confusing the idea of a game with flashy graphics. Is chess shit because you dont see your pawn slay the knight in bump-mapped glory?

login times got massively long after one of the 'patches'.
I love the game, I play it every day.
Its also the buggiest and most frustrating game I've ever played. They really should have fixed it before even announcing BF2142. The voice spamming is still a big game-wrecker for me, why they cant let you turn off voices I will never know.
Right now I doubt I'll get 2142, depends what else is out when its released.

and how many of us ended up upside down, in a corner, trying to go back the way we came, and swearing at the monitor?
Well i did, but maybe I have shit spatial skills, which would explain why I prefer isometric or 2D games

sounds like spin to me. next week it will be dismissed as a rumour. Nice bit of PR for the game in the meantime though eh?

You assume the existing tech is sound. Ive worked with crappy base engines, and learned that you can't polish a turd. Sometimes the only solution is to ditech inherrently badly designed buggy base code and restart that module. I suspect that this si the case with BF2. When they fix something, too many other unrelated things break, in a way that suggests to my humble coding eye, that the codebase is spahghetti.
This isnt neccesarily the devs fault, they may be pitching hard to scrap and rewrite some known flaky systems, but publisher and accountant pressure will force them to make-do.
I dont think I'll be buying 2142. Im saving cash for Pirates of the Burning Sea and Spore.

I dont work for them, I AM THEM bwahahahahaha!
Its a one man company basically.
I recommend Democracy over Starship tycoon myself, but what do i know, I found out Starship tycoon sold 25,000 copies, so it must be pretty good. Pity I earned a pittance from those sales ;(

actually the demo of this game was excellent. I guess if all you want is lots of trolls with big axes and large chested girls, this sint for you, but not all gamers are born the same. I cant understand why people pay monthly to endure a MMORPG level grind that would feel mroe like work than my day job, but thats variety for you.
Im on the fence about buying this.

"I mean, just because some people think a game is fun does not mean I will…some people liked Diakatana! "

Well said. I got bored with half life 2 half way through, most people say its awesome. tastes vary, which is why playable demos are so vital. I hear a lot of good things about ET:QW, but I try to keep an open mind. Too many times games have sounded like they would rock, only to suck royally when they are released. Heres hoping ET:QW is great, but I see zilch reason to pay for it in advance (prob 6 months in advance) without having it played it first. I don't care if my username is user4545465645, Its not a big deal. im always suspicious when *everyone* says a game thats not finished yet is going to be "teh best thing evar".

I agree. Pre-ordering is a great way to ensure a game is sold 100% on hype. I have not played a demo of this game, therefore everything I know about it is 100% from journalists. (and no doubt the videos are recorded on an SLI nvidia rig with liquid cooling)
Given that most game journos are of the 'omfg its da r0xx0r' variety, I'll reserve judgement until a fully playable demo of it is in my grubby hands.
AFAIK none of you have played this game, you are only basing your opinions on hype and marketing. Playable advance demos FTW.

dont bother. all you can 'play' is the tutorial. you have no idea if its worth playing or not from this demo.
WHY is this so big? it looks like maybe a 100meg game.
