well if its just for clans, it will fail dismally. only a trivial percentage of online players join clans.

just don't buy the games. idiots like that can talk all the time about how ads are staying, but as someone who advertises (and would never advertise in game) I can assure him that if advertisers don't see a return on investment, his business model is fucked.

thats THEM, which was about giant killer ants in the desert as I recall. Quite a scary black and white film.

I really don't care whop THEY are, if its over a year before I can buy it. Bother me when its under 6 months from release.

agreed with you 100%. I don't think this move is 'exciting' or indeed 'innovative', unlike the money grabbing twats at eidos.

ha! I'm sure some people would love this game. However, they may find that just another MMORPG with elves and dwarves hammering rats for the first 20 days to be slightly boring.
Different games for different people.

Innovation can only happen when games are low risk, or niche. We are pretty much all done with the big generic fight-the-terrorists FPS game now. If EA didn't insist on making every game appeal to everyone, and on spending 10 million dollars on it, they would get a lot more innovation. They would be better off spending that 10 mil on 10 different, slightly niche games, with lower production values. People are past caring about photorealism, and amazing bump mapped pimples on peoples faces, they want innovation now, and that means riskier designs, niche marekst, and smaller budgets.

i understand the internet thanks, I run a games business over it. I don't see why they need 1.8 GIGs in a demo. War and Peace is 1MB of text. I doubt that 1,800 times as much work went into this game. They are just lazy in terms of making demos any smaller than the entire flipping game. I'll guess 70% of the downloaded content in the demo is not in the demo levels. Plus I expect it to be uncompressed files, and packed with FMV.

besides, they are selling something, I'm the customer. If the size of the demo puts me off, they are the ones losing cash.

I suspect this is them being totally honest. These guys have self funded a game for five years, they have been shopping their product around for a while, and were in a position of huge negotiating strength ( a ready to launch original IP MMO that was self financed ). I imagine they got a pretty good deal out of it,and could pretty much dictate the terms.

The thing is , looking at the screens, this is just a version of the sims set on campus. The *idea* of a life sim is a very open and interesting one IMHO, but everyone seems to just clone the fucking sims, just the way everyone who makes an MMO cloned everquest (except linden labs). Where is the original thought? I might not have sold as many copies of 'Kudos' as the sims sells, but at least I had an original take on the game idea.
I hate companies that seem to not have a single original idea in their heads when they design a game ;(

your suspicions are correct. It's called rock legend, because its gigging bands, as opposed to manufactured 'pop' bands. But one of the instruments is saxophone, so you don't have to be mega metal to play it

most demos by triple A games are thrown together by junior coders in 10 minutes (seen it done). When people know what they are doing they will go through the game and ensure only those sounds, music, textures, meshes and data that is required for that specific level get included, possibly with some missing FMV too. This is how all demos should be.

A game developer (that's not an indie) actually hosting their own demo accessible with a single direct click, no popups, subscriptions, ads or annoyances.
I'm impressed. Downloading now.
