if I'm an Islamic fundamentalist, why bother getting on a plane to the USA to blow up civilians? the USA sends poorly equipped volunteers to my country to act as target practice for me every day, and we have killed over 3,000 of them since 9/11, and injured tens of thousands more. Why fight them in the USA, when they can come to us, where we know the territory, the language, the people, and we have a huge army of people to support us who resent the destruction of their country by the US and her allies.
Seriously, you are playing directly into their hands.

not true, the big games made by EA may be like that, but there are thousands of PC games, and many of the smaller titles by people like Stardock have TONS of depth to them. If you aren't too fussed about cutting edge graphics, then the PC still reigns supreme in terms of thinking games, strategy games and off beat wacky stuff.
You will never get shrapnel games stuff on a console, nor old school style RPGS, or hyper complicated sim games.

yeah yeah whatever. I'm sure all 200,000 pirates on the warez board i saw moaning there was no crack are just 'idiots' and 'wrong'. Im sure your buddy who has cracked it was playing it with elvis last night on his moonbase.
The game isn't cracked.

fine, but that doesn't entitle you to pirate it and never will. by the way, another 24 hours have passed and there is still no crack. meanwhile, us paying customers are enjoying the best game of the year so far.

It seems like DRM has got strong enough now that the pirates can't beat it, despite all their childlike whining. Thank god for that, maybe some of them will grow up now.

wow cool, do you try that shit in the movie theater and at restaurants too? How many waiters and theater managers tell you to fuck off when you tell them you didn't get your moneys worth?
I guess just playing the bioshock demo will not be enough for you, and as the game is still not cracked (despite the whining of many warez kids) its only those of us who aren't thieves who are currently playing (and loving) this game.

I just spent more on an indian meal and 2 glasses of wine than the cost of bioshock, and that sure didn't last 10 hours, nor was it as exciting or memorable. quit whining.

this is definitely the best game of the year, just played my first part of it. your only spiting yourself by not getting it.
if your annoyed, blame the pirates, its them who drove them to do this.

"Once you give the game company your money, you lose all leverage because the bastards don't offer refunds and their EULA's let them get away with it. "

I see...... so you are someone who never pays for his games and pirates them yes? in which case STOP WHINING.
Jesus christ, these are people making one of the best games of the year, a high quality original IP, that is everything that gamers say they want, and that's how you treat them? You consider the people who make the games the enemy. Please, do us who like games a favour, fuck off and take up ski-ing.

jeeez, we get it, you aren't going to buy the game. the rest of us are, we don't reinstall our entire hard drive every 10 minutes, and wouldn't have even noticed the DRM. A classic case of 1% of users making 99% of the noise.

getting the latest drivers makes a colossal improvement on nvdia cards.
I found it a little bit meh, but I'm so used to cod 2 its hard to be objective. It feels horribly console like to me, in it's gui and texture res (horribly low). Theres some very trendy new shader effects on blurred vision, which some may like.
If you dislike unskippable videos and briefing bits, that will annoy you too.

couldn't agree more, and its especially unforgivable on a game like bioshock, where pretending not to have the money for the game is laughable, as you need a $2000 PC to get the best out of DX10 game.
I've ordered a legit copy (not got it yet, in the UK), that way the devs get paid, they have a financial incentive to make more games like this, I know my copy will run ok, any patches will work fine, I get a manual and a disc, and I know exactly what I'm installing on my PC. It amazes me how people happily install some .exe from a warez site full of porn popups and other shady stuff.

Agreed. There is plenty of clear un-arguable bottom-line evidence that combating piracy boosts sales and thus revenue for the developers. I know one vgame publisher who fixed a hole in their DRM and saw a 40% increase in sales the next month.
People love to whine about any form of DRM, even though 99.99% of those whining will never experience any problems at all. Everyone knows someone whose friends brothers cousins mate once had a game not start because of starforce, but the vast majority of people who whine about DRM are people who pirate games anyway, and to be honest, they can just fuck off, because not contributing at all to the market for games means nobody in the industry gives a fuck what they think.
the minute you pirate a game you forfeit any right whatsoever to bitch to the people who make, sell or distribute the games about any topic whatsoever.

agreed 100%. I'm already bored with hearing about this. so many press releases contain nothing in them, that now I tend to skip a lot of mainstream news anyway, and have even missed the release of some AAA games as a result. Too much crying wolf.

The whole stats thing was a bad idea, it leads to this crap, and people not playing for the team. I guess it was an anti-piracy move, so they can exclude servers that allow hacked copies of the game, but in practice, it doesn't help in a game already plagued by hilarious load times and buggy code. Since I went back to COD 2, I haven't fired up BF2 once, and probably never will again.

Agreed 100%. I would be worried (as a developer) that I would be sued for false advertising if I cut on-line support before say, 4 years.
