Yay! I'd say this discussion has digressed into a great Spaz War, but that takes TWO flaming spazzes, and there can be but one: Zephalapifflelahdedahdedah, ju know who u are, mang.

You fuels! Just wait until Crysis 2 and Vista ME come out, and I'll be running A TERRAGIG of RAM and you'll be crying, crying your sissyboy maggoty hypocrite EYES OUT, whining "WHY OH WHY didn't I buy VISTA", but it is I who will be laughing, laughing like crazy at YOU because it will be too late for you and your kind and you will only dream of the twinkly HD FPS I am getting BUT NO!!!!

('cuse me, my head just exploded and it's time for my meds)

Yay! Nothing like a down 'n dirty spazfight to liven up the day. Where would message boards be without them? We who enjoy your pointless trollery salute you!

May I offer a tip? When you craft intricate, point-by- point refutations of your archenemy's last post, you come off as a total and complete WEENER, no matter how elegant your prose, brilliant your logic, acerbic your putdowns, dramatic your evidence or justified your position. No! One! Cares! LEAST of all your spazdance partner.

We onlookers just chuckle and gawk, watching you fighting like ants in a jar, all mad because someone shook you up.

When I see the pundits on both sides arguing and debating over what should be taught in schools and the like, I don't see people searching for truth. I see people searching for power.

What a great observation! Thanks, VoodooV. THAT'S why no one can compromise, much less agree anymore on any of the many polarizing arguments out there. Abortion, homosexuality, Religion in the Public Sector, Irag - no one gives a shit about the truth anymore, only about winning the fucking argument. No wonder "debate" in this country has turned into a disingenous recitation of talking points and scorched-earth tactics.

Pretty civil discussion in THIS thread, though, on the perennial tricky subject of religion vs science - yay gamers. Maybe that's 'cuz gamers get their winnin' & power in the games.

With all due respect to the swell products Mr. Fatal1ty's endorsed, I still much prefer my Official Ted Williams Gaming Mouse, High performance Mousehand Glove, and Glare-resistant Eye Visor. They have caused my PONG scores to increase a consistent 6.2% in tests. I DO use Fatal1ty's High Resolution Tooth Enlightener Strips, though, and especially like his line of lawncare products.

The name isn't about marketing toward the younger crowd, but to create brand recognition.

Yes, I got that. Brand. Quite the buzzword a few years back, right after CRM and TQM. Your point is valid. Again. And personally, I really liked what that brand's had to offer.

I stand corrected by your argument against the name being marketed to teenagers; demographically, the typical gamer IS older. I mistakenly assumed you'd have to be 17 or so to think a ludacrisly bad name like "Bloodrayne" was cool. But the typical gamer is more like 30. Thank you for setting me straight on that count.

Branding and pandering to the market aren't mutually exclusive, though; I understand - really! - that incorporating The Brand was the primary goal. But it was also the impetus for the cutesy spelling. Beyond branding, the title must appeal to buyers. The brand alone isn't enough. Other than screen shots, all you got to promote for months (or even years) is the title.

"Crysis" no doubt seemed like a stroke of genius to someone, using the brand name in a "clever" title. BONUS! But it still strikes me as laughably trite, and that's why I posted in the first place.

As for pots and kettles, I must admit that my screen name is hideously, datedly, incredibly stupid bad.

Say, you don't suppose that was my intention all along?

"Although it has yet to be seen, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that games developed by Crytek such as Far Cry, this new game Crysis, as well as their engine CryENGINE, will have Cry in it somewhere. Just a guess."

Ya think? Thanks so much for pointing that out! I'm looking forward to sequels built around the words CRYstal, CRYogenic and CRYpt! (emphasis added so that even you can, you know, "get it").

Speaking of the unspeakably obvious, tho, the kewl thang is how Marketeers cleverly incorporated "Cry" into a stylish misspelling - you know, like kronic, or skillz, or kaos, or bewbies, aight? Because the self-conscious, postmodern irony inherent in doing so helps distinguish today's swingin' youngsters from the less hip older boys & girls who still spell things normally. That way they'll know THIS IS A GAME FOR THEM!

WOW! "Crysis", like "Crisis", only misspelled by not-so-clever Marketeers in a pathetic attempt to denote its teenage target market. I wonder why not "Far Crysis"?

I hope this isn't indicative of the overall level of creativity and innovation one can expect from those fine folks who brought us Far Cry.

What a riot. Everyone gangs up on Riley as if he's the only Steam opponent, but the rest are simply less vocal (or less energetic) about it...You're missing the boat completely, on the Anti- side of the debate.

You've got a point there. The problem is, Pizt is a one-trick pony who's beaten this dead horse into atoms for so long, in so many ways, and has employed so much obnoxious horsheshit to do so, most folks take the opposite side just to distance themselves from his monumental horses' assedness. In fact, I suspect he's actually a Valve shill, using reverse psychology in a devious strategy to trick people into supporting STEAM.

As for Valve looking bad, it does that all by itself. I just point it out.

Lord, you sure do. Again and again and again, over and over, ad nauseam. For reasons you would be well rewarded to explore with a qualified counselor.

Valve BAD! Valve VERY, VERY BAD!! Did I mention they were BAD? Because that's what they are. Bad. Really.

We get it, Riley. Oh, how we get it.

Actually, Riley is simply living out Monty Python's "Argument Sketch", an excerpt of which follows:

"M: I came here for a good argument.
A: No you didn't; no, you came here for an argument.
M: An argument isn't just contradiction.
A: It can be.
M: No it can't. An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.
A: No it isn't.
M: Yes it is! It's not just contradiction.
A: Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position.
M: Yes, but that's not just saying 'No it isn't.'
A: Yes it is!
M: No it isn't!"

If this curiously fixated fellow were to apply his ferocious, single-minded tenacity to something like, say, selling Alticor (nee Amway) products, he would soon be rich enough to buy Valve and do with it as he wishes.

You and ass ritz should hook up, be pen pals or something.

YES! Really Pitz VS Zephelapocryphalahdedahdedah would be the Deluded Weenie Match of the New Millenium!!! They could have their own ongoing thread - it would be immensley entertaining, and would avoid soiling other threads about games and stuff.

"The first thing I thought of when I read "Fone Bone" was E.T."

What kind of a sick puppy wants phone sex with that lovable lil extraterrestial? Be good!

Just kidding.

Anyone remember the Bone Fone speaker system that you'd drape around your neck kinda like a scarf to create sound via (collar) bone induction. Really! Me neither, but I didn't just make it up, honest.

"Hmm...I see the troll has spread his filth and infestitations to this point as well....these territories are growing darker."

Yep, Riley knew better than to hang out around the "Ships Ahoy - HL2GotY" thread anymore, with that whole "we hate you, Riley!" thing going on. And, surprise! What does he have to share in this thread? A comment on Valve/Steam! Imagine!

This sad fellow's ...issues... with Valve & Steam border on the pathological, and his need to continually share and argue and defend and explain and reiterate them is a cry for help. Get that help, Riley! This isn't really about Valve/Steam, it's about whatever they represent in your tortured psyche. You can get past this, but you can't do it alone. You're not going to find the help you need in a games forum. Unlike here, your counselor will be genuinely interested in how you feel towards Steam, and why you feel that way, and can help you let go and get on with your life. There IS life after Steam - you'll see!

"Come on people! Only six more posts to go"

I believe Riley has done an oustanding job conveying his thoughts regarding the facial animation in HL2. He has also established himself as an extravagantly obstinate, argumentative jerk who does not know when to speak and when to remain silent. What few people seem to realize, however, is that he only acts this way because Zephelapocryphalahdehdahdehdah has made him HIS PUPPET!!!!!

Cheers to ScottishMartialarts for suggesting something better than the "Us VS Them", "I'm Right, You're Wrong", "We're Good, You're Evil" "Jesus loves US but he says YOU suck" impasse in U.S. political discourse today.

I'm on the left side of the fence, but recognize that both sides are equally guilty of the same self-serving games & B.S. Just read the posts on this site to see what the ultimate results of THAT approach is: nothing's accomplished, and both parties ultimately look like morons.

Time for liberals and conservatives to grow up and find ways to work through differences. Simply reinforcing one's own beliefs and flaming opponents is a dead end.

If you’ve just joined this thread, ladies and gentlemen, here’s what happened so far in the Battle of the Middleweights:

XXBatmanXx (hereinafter “Bat”) – dissed Valve

Zephalephela (hereinafter “Zep”) says something so very naughty it’s REMOVED by Blue (hereinafter “SSSVNIWR”)

Bat dissects and refutes a post by Zep, concluding with a three-paragraph personal attack.

Zep SSSVNIWR

Bat responds to the Zep post, which apparently shared certain biographical information, with 6 paragraphs of personal attacks.

Zep succinctly notes that all that needs to be said is that his opponent named himself Batman.

Bat says something but changes his mind and edits it out, noting he was taking the high road by simply laughing at Zep’s post.

Zep concludes the absence of Bat’s signature on his last post is proof the latter is now embarrassed by his name, and calls him a different name.

Bat posts to show his signature is still there.

Zep refers Bat to his penultimate post, and insults Bat’s intelligence.

Bat explains the previous absence of his signature and adds a few sarcastic insults.

Zep insults Bat’s intelligence.

Bat insults Zep and indicates their debate is being shared with his coworkers, adding a dig about Zep’s resume.

Zep SSSVNIWR

Who’s winning so far? This is a hard one to call, but most judges give the match to Bat at this point, for maintaining the offensive and making Zep repeatedly lose his cool. Still, Bat’s lost a lot of points for low blows and cheap shots. Also, Zep could get more points for his remarkably vile epithets if he could only keep them from being censored. So stay tuned! This match is still wide open!

"...That's because anyone who thinks "pwnage" is a word barely has the literacy and mental capacity to read my posts let alone comprehend them. It looks like your supporters have a lot in common with John Kerry's. LOL!"

I'm not sure I understand how one can both dismiss "pwnage" as a word and sign off with, "LOL!", but that's OK. No explanation is necessary. Really.

It occurs to me, however, that accenting a clever, written riposte with "LOL!" shows a bit of overkill. It's the literal equivalent of concluding a spoken sally of wit with a roguish, swashbuckling, "Ha-Ha!" For instance, imagine someone actually saying out loud, "It looks like your supporters are AS DUMB AS John Kerry's! HA-HA!".

I don't think even Nelson Muntz gets away with it anymore.

I say this with love, because I care.
