Microsoft obviously isn't happy about EA winning that worst company ever award.

What does this have to do with Microsoft? Microsoft shut down FASA in 2007. This game is being developed by Piranha Games and published by Infinite Game Publishing.

How much do I have to pay for a SP campaign? That's the only option I'm interested in. This looks like a ridiculous attempt to prey upon the anticipation of gullible gamers. $120 to get your name in the credits? Puh-LEEZE.

The GTX 285 is an odd choice for the recommended specs given how low-yield that part was. As I recall, it was also one of the first models in the Nvidia lineup to offer 2GB of VRAM instead of the standard 1GB.

And I agree: the lack of a SP campaign is not going to help sales. Even a short series of scenarios that serve as a tutorial would be better than nothing. Without anything like this, I doubt I'd pick this up.

You are aware that this is a F2P game, yes? There's no harm in just trying it. If the game does well, maybe the devs will work on a SP Mechwarrior game.

Also, 4 gigs of RAM minimum? Does this game use 4096x4096 textures or something?

That's like saying that people should buy a game solely for the multi-player when a single player campaign is provided. I'm sure there are many who bought games like SC2 with this in mind, but I'm not one of them. F2P or not, I still have to buy the game, and I'm not a fan of multiplayer-only games. So I'm not sure there will be much interest for someone like me.

Nice! Now Bethesda just needs to do the same and hire the guys who made DarnifiedUI and SkyUI.

Maybe they should start by hiring Kivan, the primary behind the unofficial patches for Oblivion and Skyrim. They'd have to make him a pretty good offer, though.

As long as the performance enhancement means that the "crushing performance hit" caused by the 301.42 drivers on GTX 580s in Skyrim is gone, I'll be happy to try these.

I'd be surprised if anyone cares. Starcraft was a great game (when 640x480 was the norm), but no game sequel is worth $180, which is what Blizzards is asking for it's "sequel in three installments."

It's a shame, because I always think of Ray Liotta's characterization of Henry Hill whenever I see a post about Diablo 3:

"You can't log in to play your single player game? F&*k you, pay me!"
"Someone hacked your account and stole all your stuff? F&*k you, pay me!"
"Our servers took a crap and the lag spike caused your hardcore character to die? F&*k you, pay me!"

In a similar vein, what's going on with Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition? They said this was coming in the Summer and there's nothing on their site. I hope Wasteland 2 isn't headed down a similar road.

Normally, when a company that provides a service to you (that you pay for) changes their terms of service after the point of purchase, you have the option to pursue a refund. For cellular phone contracts, you could conceivably get out of a 2-year contract if the terms of service are changed on you. I presume, if the 30-day window hasn't closed, you could get a refund from Blizzard and get off this sinking ship.

That is, of course, if you're not one of these people that plays the game and complains about it at the same time because it's not the game you wanted it to be.

The pots were the #1 spot for botting. You don't have to kill anything to get there, and there are no enemies in the area. You could make 40k+ gold in an hour doing nothing other than breaking pots totally unimpeded.

Oh no! 40k! We must stamp that out immediately. In two weeks, you might be able to buy a piece of gear.

It depends on who you ask, some people claim they could make as much as a million an hour, but the point is it was a nerf to try to stamp out bots, not people who were running it themselves.

And yet in the shotgun blast they also kill legitimate players methods for gaining gold/playing the game.

But that's okay, eventually your credit card will replace all that.

Sounds like the same line of thought that drives them to use onerous DRM methods to prevent piracy, damaging the experience for paying customers along the way. You must really want to be that hamster on the exercise wheel to put up with this sort of thing.

I can understand expecting some core gameplay additions (and there may still be that we haven't seen). I'm not sure however why you would expect something that expanded on the main quest(s). None of the expansions for Oblivion or morrowind did this, and I'm pretty sure that none for Fallout 3 or new vegas did this either (although I'm not as certain about those).

I was referring more to the tone of the main quests. For example, I would have expected Skyrim DLC (at least the early ones) to have a significant tie-in with dragons or the fallout of the civil war. From what I can tell, this is not the case, but I don't know the body of the Dawnguard questline, so I can't say for sure what it entails. As I said, time will tell. I don't consider the addition of "legendary dragons" to be a sufficient tie-in.

Then again, Skyrim has done a lot of things differently from previous BGS games, and a "fortified" version of the main quest(s) would make subsequent playthroughs that much more interesting. Not everyone will want to play Dawnguard with their level 60+ character.

As much as I love Skyrim... I'm not sure why I have little interest in this.

(I'm talking about the Dawnguard DLC... not the stupid MMO Trailer)

I'm not in love with vampires or with the prospect of flying around looking like Marcus from Underworld: Evolution, so I understand where you're coming from. I expected something that expanded on core gameplay and the main quest(s) of Skyrim rather than adding this seemingly unrelated fluff. Time will tell.

Beta testing begins on June 26th, only on XBOX360! Considering that XBOX360 users can't muck up their installations with mods, this should be a valuable test period.
