"Usher?" Sorry, but no amount of contextualizing will allow me to equate Usher performances with gaming. It's a sellout - nothing more. It sounds like the author is simply trying to justify his career amidst a very real sense of game journalism decline.

It's nice to see Torchlight II up there which is impressive considering it's a pre-purchase. Lots of people must be looking for an alternative to Diablo III.

Yet you feel the need to constantly go into the threads and talk about it....weird. There is a medical/mental health definition for that.

So many more people come to every D3 forum and complain about what Blizzard is doing or has done to the game. They miss the point that they already gave Blizzard their money, so what they say now is irrelevant. The only way you can send Blizzard the message is to not buy the product in the first place. Everyone else is just enabling it to continue its practices. As far as I'm concerned, anyone with the impulse control to not buy D3 is doing the game industry a service.

Having chosen not to purchase Diablo III, I feel no need to complain about it. Every day I read about it however, I find myself looking forward to Torchlight II and (someday) Grim Dawn, all the while feeling grateful for my decision not to give Blizzard my money.

30-day XBox exclusive just means the console players get to beta test it for a change. I hope there's more to this than a collection of "Game Jam" test balloons hobbled together.

Warlock tries to melt my GPU. I've played Skyrim at 2560x1600 for hours on end and the GPU never gets above 85-86 degrees C, but Warlock pushed it up to 98 after 35-40 minutes of playing. Scary.

I guess we won't be seeing this anytime soon then. I'm surprised it isn't already in development, or perhaps this is a translation error.

And Blue does evening update just as I posted this in the etc. thread. Here it is again - it's a killer deal.

Amazon has a Paradox package for $12.50:

Crusader Kings II
Magicka Collection
Magicka: The Stars Are Left DLC
Sword of the Stars II: Lords of Winter
Swords of the Star - Complete Collection
Victoria II

Crusader Kings II by itself is only $9.99. Some of the games in that list are 4-player co-op, which I'm not interested in.

$4.99 for Titan Quest Gold. That's a deal, especially for a great game that doesn't require a persistent connection to play. It also lets you zoom out a bit to take advantage of that nice, large monitor...unlike some games that seem to be showing the same view as their 640x480 predecessors.

it's a maintenance update, I hate how we can't even play at all, I work late and this was the only time I could play.. DOH

You bought a Blizzard game that requires that you log in and stay online to play. By giving them your money you've condoned this business practice, so I'm not sure what you expect.

Though I am admittedly an outsider, having never played either WoW or Diablo 3, but having seen and heard enough about both of them I feel compelled to ask: what's the difference?

In WoW you build up your character in a storyless world of thousands of players.
In Diablo you build up your character in a story driven world with no more than 4 players.

I appreciate the seemingly honest answers, but this was actually a rhetorical question. Online requirements for a single player game and mindless slogging only serve to strengthen the similarities between Diablo 3 and a certain Blizzard MMO. Combine this with the myopic (both figurative and literal) approach toward gameplay and I'm invariably left with a desire to do something else with my time, even if that means re-playing an older, but far superior, game.

Diablo III on Christ Centered Gamer
This review was fairly objective if you can get past the strangeness of the reviewer being bothered by the Witch Doctor's lack of clothing - never mind the fact that she's dangling a severed head from one hand.

What I found creepy was the comments. I won't elaborate.

It doesn't seem that "mounted combat" includes casting spells, either offensive spells or those of the healing variety. So, you can fight while on a horse, but if your health is low you will need to dismount. Seems pretty dumb to me.

Halfway to that proud Duke Nukem Forever milestone…

I used to be quite proud to say I hadn't purchased a single Valve title since the Orange Box, but I recently picked up Portal 2 on sale. It was cute, but about 3-4 times longer than it needed to be. If this is the best they can do, they probably can't do HL2:EP3 justice any longer. And without any managerial direction within the company to drive such an effort, I don't expect to ever see it.

Great, so lots of lemmings people bought the game hoping it would impress, despite what had been known about the persistent connection requirement. 3.5 million? 4.7 million? How many are playing now? Is the difference due to people not wanting to play or not being able to play?

I don't mind if this is true. I doubt that Blizzard can effectively change the direction of the computer games industry if they only release a new title every ~10 years. There will always be plenty of gullible people willing to pre-purchase a game without knowing anything about it except its name (e.g. DA2, ME3). It's what happens next that is important.

As for the "too many stocks," you mean too many shares, and yes, they increased the number of shares just before the IPO.

"They," meaning the underwriters Morgan Stanley, not only increased the number of shares to be offered, but they did it at the same time they increased the IPO price. It's no surprise to anyone that this hugely over-valued stock is suffering. As for the technology behind Facebook, it's not all that innovative by today's standards, at least as anything other than a medium for advertisers.
