Don't care. That ship sailed, got re-sold, mothballed, rusted, sank to the bottom of the bay. If it does happen, only a few e-mag editors will know what the hell "Half-Life" was or why it mattered 25 years ago. If you didn't have the courage to finish the story back then what has changed now? More likely than not it is just a last-ditch effort to cash in, so by definition it will disappoint fans of the original and fail to make an impact on anyone born since then.

Haven't been a fan of the Civ games since learning that the computer opponents cheat in so many ways in an attempt to provide a challenge. They start with different units. They ignore rules that the player must adhere to. They've been doing this since 2007 or earlier. That's not very entertaining. Should we expect it to be any different now that there is a "VII" on the "box?"

Bethesda makes huge games that endure because they're large, replayable and moddable - not because they use cutting-edge tech, have great writing or offer any innovation. Those things are added by the rabid fan base through mods. They also used to have good writing (Morrowind) but those staff members are gone.

Shen worked at Bethesda for more than 14 years. He's only been out for just over 1 year. The koolaid isn't out of his system yet. He's just reacting to how other people do it and stay in business.

Players are fatigued by the same old bugs in the Gamebryo engine showing up in every Bethesda game in the last 20 years.
Players are fatigued by 7-8 loading screens whenever they want to go somewhere.
Players are fatigued by poor quest design, nonsensical writing and disconnected stories that go on forever. Fix that stuff and people are fine with larger games.

There aren't many developers of worth left at Bethesda to match the contribution of Purkeypile. There was a video online last year of him describing the development of his new game and comparing it to his experience as Bethesda. It was interesting how much of Bethesda's "process" is driven by 20 years of tools written for their outdated engine. This guy picked up UnrealEngine and was like a kid who had never seen candy before. I think if I had his experience and this kind of revelation I'd come off as jaded too.

Modded or not, if you keep buying Bethesda games they'll keep selling them with the same problems. It's simply too expensive for them at this point to adopt or license a new game engine and people keep purchasing their 25-year-old garbage. The only way that'll change is if you STOP BUYING IT.

Bruce Nesmith left Bethesda in 2021. He is not representing Bethesda (of today) in this article. He has made plenty of critical observations of Bethesda's development strategies since leaving the company.

Here's to hoping this kills the studio!

Why would you want that?

Anthem was a huge failure but you can't win every single time.

They still made some of the best games I've ever played.

Baldur's Gate
Baldur's Gate 2
Neverwinter Nights
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Mass Effect series
Dragon age origins (I never played past this one)

Like why you so "FUCK THESE GUYS!"
Wow. That makes absolutely no sense. Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2 were indeed developed by Bioware but the people responsible for those games (Feargus Urquhart, Chris Avellone, Josh Sawyer, Darren Monahan, Chris Parker) worked for Black Isle and no longer work for or with Bioware in any capacity. That's like saying that the Reagan administration deserves credit for landing American astronauts on the moon because it is credited to the presidency as an institution. Bioware is a hole.

At this point I don't have the energy to complain about Bethesda - instead I'd rather find a way to get people to stop buying their crap since it just encourages them to keep producing it.

Good news, Starfield's Shattered Space DLC won't be the end of the road when it comes to expansions.
I consider this bad news as it further delays TES6 core development. However, since TES6 will still use the same quarter-century-old game engine, I'm not all that excited.

PSN account creation requirements differ between countries. In some countries you must own a registered Playstation console in order to create a PSN account which would be an egregious requirement for a PC game.

Am I missing where they indicate whose the actress is going to be that is going to play her?
The actress for the role hasn't been mentioned, but Waller-Bridge was very much to blame for the arc of her character and its deleterious effect on the story of Indy 5.

It would be great if this were all about trimming the fat and returning Bethesda to the days of old when they were a seat-of-the-pants developer making great games to stay employed...but this is clearly about maximizing profits for shareholders and executives and was almost certainly part of the calculus that justified a $7.5B purchase of Zenimax in the first place.

Glad to see some are enjoying the game and are happy to wait for BGS to make it enjoyable enough to justify their purchase. Personally, I won't give $0.01 to a studio that insists on using obsolete technology and justifies it with lies, incompetence and a boring product but that's just me. While it's true that Starfield likely made $200M+ let's not forget that Microsoft paid $6.5BN to purchase BGS and expectations were that Starfield would yield a much larger profit through XBox exclusives. Once the modding tools and DLC are released maybe they will. That's great for those MS corporate guys like Phil Spencer, et al. It doesn't fill me with hope or giddy expectation for the next Elder Scrolls since they'll still be using this same broken engine developed by the same incompetent people and represented by the same lying game director.

Exactly the correct and responsible decision if this indeed delivers a polished and finished product at release. The experience that Homeworld 3 will offer will be all the more memorable if it is a full-featured and comprehensive product.

Apologist videos like this miss the most basic points. Emil is a design & writing director, meaning he makes the decisions on what content gets included in the game within his sphere, and his sphere is writing/story/quest design. We don't need to watch a 2+ hour youtube video to be told that he's just one person and Bethesda is a 250+ person studio when we already know that he's the one making the questionable decisions that result in disjointed, inconsistent, ridiculous stories.

Oh my god, no. Seriously they need to stop, it's killing their games at this point.
It was first announced approx. 2 1/2 years ago, though that was before Microsoft instituted control over BGS. Here are just a couple of articles that shared this information about the TES6 engine, both from Summer 2021:
The Elder Scrolls 6 is Using Same Engine as Starfield, Still in 'Design Phase'

While you may have meant this in jest it is actually true. Most if not all of the designers, leads, producers and directors that have been responsible for what has been good from Morrowind up until (and not including) Fallout 76 have left. Nesmith, Purkeypile, and others are gone. BGS now has 20 years of tools made for various versions of NetImmerse/Gamebryo/Creation and likely very few employees with experience using it.
