If it's anything like the current AppleTV it sucks ass.
AppleTV can't play anything unless you pipe it through iTunes. (unhacked)

I'll wait and see, but Apple's media stance doesn't bode well for how I use media.

I'm almost willing to make a bet that it wont support subtitle files or .mkv files.

Compatibility issues are a moot point. Everyone designs cards and software for OpenGL / Direct3D.

Compliant hardware will work with compliant software. Sometimes hardware or software are not compliant.

What Mike Ryder is talking about is being able to work with hardware that has much lower performance than that of the top line hardware. All of said hardware is compatible, they just operate at different tiers of performance. (DirectX10/11 aside)

DirectX10/11 have specific features that are required in hardware (for the most part) in order to be able to make use of the features in your software. If you're trying to have a broad market accessibility you will want to aim for lower end hardware - or the ability to run on lower end hardware. (Scalability)

It's so prehistoric that some games might crash on an ATI 5870 while working smoothly on a 59xx, for example.
This is extremely unlikely. Unless there is a specific driver problem on ATi's side which would make it have problems interfacing with DirectX/3D.
Plus the 59xx is basically two 5870 chips on one board; Even if that weren't the case and it were a different GPU it would still be an unlikely case. (Or someone would have missed a large portion of the testing before the drivers went out. AND that could be updated in a future driver update.)

I watched the feed last year as well, and it seems like there are still things that I remember from the feed that weren't common knowledge for a while.
I'd pay for it again as I enjoyed the panels, but this year I'll be there :).

The market is open. As for openness in the client / steamworks architecture, that really isn't the issue here. And if that were the case I'm pretty sure Stardock/Impulse could work something out with Valve/Steam.

Instead Stardock has gone out of their way to be non-competitive and essentially cutting their own throats. (IMO)

You devs are going to add neat features that require added software that we compete with? Fine we don't want you.

It's like saying that if AMD/ATi had a software platform (Sales) they wouldn't sell any game that had PhysX physics engine. And as a result would cut the amount of games they could possibly sell.

Frankly, I think it's more of a marketing ploy by Stardock/Impulse. I for one, am not sold.

It's open. Steamworks doesn't prevent other platforms from selling or installing that game. Stardock/Impulse has gone out of their way to deny any game with Steamworks on their sales platform.

They do this because they don't want to deal with steam in any fashion, and in turn it's screwing them out of potential sales. When I can't find any titles worth purchasing on a platform I tend to not pay any attention to it. (I have purchased Demigod, and other Stardock games btw.)

Pushing the white iPhone to late 2010 means I'll be looking for a different phone.
Any recommendations? People recommended the Nexus one, but Google doesn't sell it anymore. Anyone know of any problems with the Droid X (Now that it can be rooted?)

I was anti-vista because I had an evga nvidia card that would flake and crash every 3-4 hours or whenever the screensaver would enter sleep mode.

Turned out it was a hardware problem and not Vista. I however vowed to not use it after switching back to xp relieved me of the problems.

Vista was supposed to further isolate video card crashes and problems. It was one of the touted features of the core changes. I was not impressed.

Today I run 7. I have since 7Beta worked on my machine without horrendous video problems. I still refuse to use Vista, but we use 7 at work now. so I'm beyond Vista. There is no real reason other than the experience left me with a terrible taste in my mouth.

(Note: I switched shortly after that experience to ATi. I switch roughly 2-3 gens anyways)

Actually, it's probably a new payload of most of it, as they are cleaning up everything else SC2 on your machine (I've heard reports of 10gb installs going to 2gb). Install the new payload and nuke the old crap from previous patches (Copies of older patches to allow easy rollback)

I tried to play Dirt2 and many other games (demo time is 1/2 hour) using OnLive on my 6mb DSL.

The latency is TERRIBLE, I would say 100-150ms is about right. For driving games that is a deal breaker for me. I also don't like smudged compression everywhere. Nothing is sharp and clear detail like they were saying it would be. (Then again, I do have clinically better than average eyesight.)

I have a year free in the founder program. I'll check back with it in a week or so. Maybe things will have changed. (I'll probably check it out at work at some point too.)

When I can click something and almost get to two-onethousand I get terribly irritated, Don't you? I still hate most Unreal engine UI because of this.

I haven't used any of these DX11 cards or even seen them in action. I can't provide how 'beta' software will run on them. If you want to see how well they run look up some reviews. I recommend checking into the 5770 because of it's lower price and still reasonable framerates at 1920x1200. But don't take my word for it, do a google search.
