More and more games come on DVDs or multiple CDs, it shouldn't surprise you that demos become larger as well. Learn to deal with it, if you're on a regular ol' modem move to somewhere civilized ;p

a couple of days is better than say d3 and others managed. They probably consider it a minor victory that the game wasn't available on teh web before it was released.

"...For instance they should not instantly ban hacks, let people think its safe and ban batches of people every week"

They already do this, and I agree they should try to focus even more on anti-cheating measures.

They have to defend their +5 years of work, no matter how pointless it seems at times.

I don't mean to start a flamewar or anything, but now there are two people saying d3 has great audio - did you guys play the same game I did? Weapon and monster sounds were horrible in my opinion...especially the weapons sounds were so flat and boring. Really ruined the game for me, well the sounds and how the weapons felt so weak..and the silly monster spawning.

If they had to kill every rumor started about HL2 they'd do nothing but that.

The problem is all the kids out there hyping themselves to death.

Please, there's plenty of incentive for websites to promote this shiat. Just see how many comments valve stories get on blue's. It generates hits, ad money ect.

Get over your hate of a darned game dev, they're not worth it.

"No one cares abour release candidates or certifications or steam updates or any other thing that you can possibly come up with, just shut up Valve."]

Go yell at Computer and Video games, they're the ones behind this story. Not VALVe

Must be nice to be in VALVe's shoes, their customers generate all the publicity they'll ever need.

I was surprised to learn that 497,748 or 75% of the people who participated in the HL2 hardware survey have a dvd drive. Thought it'd be much lower.

(I wonder if virtual drives are counted as a real one, maybe the survey could be fooled to think daemon or whatever is a real drive.)

Anyway, maybe I should finally go get me a dvd drive, never really saw any reason to get one - Have a cd burner, why add another piece of hardware that I'll never (or rarely) use.

..on the other hand. Combo dvd/cd recorders are pretty cheap now.

I'd give it a try if I could, but that page seriously needs a bandwidth boost. Only getting 2-3 kb/sec when downloading.

Anyone tried any of the mods, are they worth the wait?

There's a little typo in the above. "Trauma staff are now _afficially_ employed.."

Also, wasn't there talk of an unofficial 0.8 patch for DC by Trauma employees? Maybe that'll get the axe now...

Last I heard there will be a normal hl2 only edition, a higher priced hl2/cs:s edition and a lower priced(?) cs:s only edition

because they changed something with the shell ejection in the last patch which caused many problems, this is a fix that should prevent the hl.exe memory "read" error many are getting. As for why Blue decided to put it on the page, who knows

Ok, I just watched the vid...Counter-strike on the source engine looks absolutely amazing, can't wait to try it out

Didn't know what to expect when I read the whole cs on source thing, but it wasn't anything like that. However, it makes me wonder, what about cs2. I know they're working on it, that mihn guy has been on it for years now if i remember corretly. So I guess VALVe's plan is to draw more people to the cs scene with this so they'll have plenty of customers when they release cs2 sometime in the future - which is fine by me, means I'll have more people to play against

...well I guess it'll probably convince more people to buy hl2 as well eh.

/can't wait. Need a new graphics card tho
