... on your radar that looks more promising than F03 ... MMOs need not apply ;-)

Just curious, cuz honestly, us RPGers who prefer sci-fi to fantasy are in the midst of an awfully long cold spell ... not that FO3 is the third coming, but I'm pretty excited about it sheerly due to relative strength of its competition.

I wasn't following this game's release much at all (I knew it would be more FPS-ish than SS).

Tried the demo, became intrigued ... plus we are in a bit of a PC game dry spell ... thought ... I am going to go buy this ...

Saw this crap about their protection scheme, no thanks, I will pass ... nobody is going to tell me when and where I can install a game I have rightfully purchased. I have a desktop PC, a laptop and a work PC I routinely install whatever it is I am playing, so right out of the gate, I would be SOL.

Neat game, but not truly special enough to let the publisher and/or developer have its way with me.

For those unable to get thru to Blue's link, here is the text of post #1 in that thread:
Widescreen fix for the demo .... work in progress ...
Racer_S and the widescreengamingforum.com bring you this fix ...
It is for the demo only ...
One for the Full version to follow as soon as we can sort it ...
This of course won't work on the 360 ...

Widescreen FOV tool here ...

for AoC to be ho hum success wise ... they do not have tons of idle development staff so they, like everyone else, are chosing quantity over quantity

aren't all MMOs a matter of time invested?

I just wanted to clarify your difficulty statement ... EQ had bosses that 70 people couldn't kill, thats almost 2x WoW raid size ... EQ was plenty difficult AND had time sinks ...

doing the time trials in the planes was extremely difficult before mudflation

all valid points of the problems with this game, but Sigil is out of cash ... they can either sell their baby to someone else, go bankrupt and never see the light of day, or release early ...

I have had a server crash totally gimp my character (level up, buy spells, crash, 1 minute rollback, I still have my level, no spells and cant rebuy them), and 25% of the quests or bugged/quirky, pathfinding is horrid, the classes are imbalanced largely, most of the dungeons are extremely laggy, its a performance hog, it crashes to desktop alot ...

but the diplomacy game within a game, house plots, complex crafting, 12+ classes (inquisitor and berserker are coming), 18 races, the environments (especially dwarf level 1-14) ... this game has potential to fill that which WoW does not for holdout AC/EQ1/UO players ...

anyways ... hopefully I said enough negative things about VG to not be called a fanboi, but this is blues so I wont hold my breath

"Why do EQ fans equate time with difficulty? Seriously, EQ was not a hard game."

Pre MM, there was no soloing to level cap/maxing AAs ... you doued/trio'd or multiboxed ... casual player with casual gear in EQ cannot fight an even con and handle adds...

since all of this is very doable in WoW I think you should chow down on some crow chowder

It is not ready, but Sigil is out of money.

I preordered because I want to see where they go with this thing given a chance.

Thank God for a warmonger like Churchill who was willing to go it alone, if need be.

are you saying 2001 Afganistan + 2002 Iraq were anywhere near the threat Germany was in the late 30s?

Ok, where to start ... this could be a really incredible game ... in about 9 - 12 months ... the heir apparent to EQ1 (much more EQ than EQ 2). Horrid net code/lag spikes and this with 500 pop servers ... world art is so so.

I can't believe they are planning on releasing this in 25 days.

So who thinks the 'next' 1up review of NWN2 will be > 7/10?

Sure they 'stand by' their reviewer and only pulled the review because it was not up to the high editorial standards us scholarly types have come to expect from 1up ... sure ...

Give it at least an 8 out of 10 or Atari (and/or their partners) will stop paying you for 'advertising' and such

From the yahoo review

What's more, Dark Crusade doesn't require a CD in the drive to start up. Relic and THQ did the same thing in Company of Heroes. These games also let you play multiplayer LAN games with multiple installs using a single CD-key. This consumer-friendly approach is all too rare these days and the developer and publisher deserve to be applauded for it.

SOLD!!!

I still play TOEE, but there was a fair amount of issues with it (most solved to my satisfaction w patches) but there are still a vocal portion of the community that would call TOEE a failure
