Every time the dude hits us with another burst of gibberish, I get a little more curious as to how he came to be. It's like a comic book character, I want to read the "Origins of The Dude" issue. Did you have a really twisted English teacher in high school? Or did you not go to high school? Do you do this stuff on purpose as a joke? Were you bitten in the ass by a radioactive spider? The world may never know.

Hey The Dude, I have an idea for a game. In it, you play a detective trying to solve a mystery. You have to piece together clues by reading some guy's posts on a message board. Let's call him... Ric C. But the tricky part is, this guy doesn't make an iota of sense! He speaks in gibberish sentences like: "Hence, you have a mummification or dumbification of good ole know how; variable routines that can be called on from a library of possible choices for a specific characacter profile." Whoa! Crazy, right? And his posts are extremely long-winded with a low signal to noise ratio. On higher difficulty levels, his spelling and grammar get worse and worse. Doesn't that sound like fun?

Oh, wait, no it doesn't.

But I am thinking about writing a DudeBot. It'd be great, I'd just have it randomly piece together words and throw in quotation marks and exclamation points now and then. I'll bet it would be indistinguishable from the real thing.

They even built the original pickups from scratch (which were later replaced). It seems like I even remember hearing something about him building his own amps but I'm not sure.

I believe May was known for playing Vox amps, but I'm not positive. You can buy a reproduction of his custom guitar now.

And in another ironic twist of marketing, the song New Slang by The Shins was used in a McDonald's commercial. The song features the lyrics: "New slang, when you notice the stripes / The dirt in your fries / Hope it's right when you die / Old and bony"

In defense of HL2, the graphics looked nice last year, but since then I have played through Invisible War (nice physics) and FarCry (nice gfx) and Kotor (great game, great gfx).

Huh? I'm no fanboy, but you sound like a troll, look at your username. HL2 clearly has better graphics than KOTOR or DX2, and DX2 had awful physics. I really don't agree, I'm looking forward to HL2 more now after the new vids.
