OK, thanks. I know the school, but CMU covers a heck of a lot of naming possibilities...

Yeah. When I was working at the university bookstore, we always had to tell people to write "Carnegie Mellon Bookstore" on checks, because apparently writing "CMU bookstore" meant Central Michigan University. So I guess I should've specified that, huh?

It is a screenshot... Probably taken at a high resolution and scaled down. I suspect this because you can easily see jaggies on the female models leg, around the air conditioning ducts, and in the right corner of the room where the walls meet.

That doesn't mean it's in-game. I think it's very obviously not. It's either a render from a 3d app or a heavily edited screenshot. I don't think that matters in any case.

That said, why does your school have a website worse than many community colleges with less than 2,000 students?!

Uh... because... we're known for our appreciation of irony?

What/where is CMU? Is it private/public? Relatively expensive to attend (vs. other schools in area)? How many kids does he have/will have in college?

Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA. http://www.cmu.edu. Private school, relatively expensive. I don't know anything about other children that he might have.

In July there were reports Ridge told colleagues he was considering stepping down after the election because of job stresses and the need to earn money in the private sector to pay his children's college costs.

That's funny. His daughter goes to my school (CMU). I have no idea what she looks like, though.

Hey JediLuke! Is that you over @ /. for #2 on the PA q&a?

Nope, not me. An impostor! And for the record, I've been using this nick online for... 8 years or so. But yeah, I suppose it's not what one would call a unique name... oh well.

Wow you figured it out! Now figure out that most of the time people simply call other people a troll because they have a different opinion, or simply vent their opinion

Why do you keep trying to be condescending, like you've figured something out that I haven't? I've followed what you're trying to say from the beginning; no, it's not that clever, and no, it isn't totally accurate.

In a witchhunt there is no actual witchcraft to speak of; no one is actually putting curses on children or flying on broomsticks. It's purely a cover. However, there is such a thing as actually trolling. This isn't a difficult distinction to grasp. Get over the idea that you're making a really nuanced point.

Rofl, might want to think about that again. Especially why and with what purpose people called others a witch. You MIGHT find similarities.
Well, in that case you actually dont want to think about it because it might hurt your ego.

No, I really don't think you're being as clever as you seem to think. Actual witchcraft did not exist, people were just called witches for any number of superficial reasons so they could serve as communal scapegoats, blah blah blah. The point is, trolling is an actual behavior, and if someone is being a troll, one can call him a troll without it being a "witch hunt."

Btw, people who call other people "Trolls" and "Noobs" are losers. It reminds me of the peasent in the crowd that would shout "She's a witch! Burn her!" or "Blasphemer!". There's no way to fight that kind of attack.

I disagree. Trolling is a specific form of antisocial net behavior, unlike witchraft, which does not exist.

Will you please take it outside already?

Reading the web site, it still sounds questionable (particularly the title), but it doesn't seem to be some kind of gory glorification. I DLed it, but don't have time to try it until later.

Re HL2 ending:

I was going to post about this earlier. I'm not totally sure how I felt about it. The game didn't seem too short (although D3 felt longer), but the final sequence felt like it was the next-to-final sequence. I really thought it was leading me to one last area which would be the real end. When time froze and the gman came out, I thought it was totally cool, but I kept saying to myself, "No way can this be the end... no way..." and I felt a real sense of disappointment when the credits started to roll. They just showed you so much at the end and didn't bother explaining it or really telling a story about it, they just kind of threw it at you and left it there. Anyone feel similarly?

As a side note: You would have to be a dork of the largest measure to notice (and then complain) that someone deviated from the wikipedia in the proper use of the word disk/disc. I mean Jesus, get out and get some sunlight on that near-transparent skin of yours. Try to find a women too. In all the years I've been doing this stuff, I have NEVER become that big of a geek. I'd have to kick my own ass for this one.

There are far dorkier things than looking up the usage of a term on wikipedia. Like be a bluesnews forum regular.

Here's hoping for peace and prosperity over the next 4 years.

Hm, last I checked we were at war, with estimates of 100,000 civilian deaths and 1,122 dead US soldiers. Somehow I don't see that happening.
