SlimRam -- give him some time. It hasn't even been two months yet. There's no telling what's going on, there are literally dozens of personal issues which if we knew were happening, we'd think were good reason to be out of circulation for months...

What do you expect for a lousy $391 billion? A working plane? Don't worry, nothing will happen.

Hell, the GOP essentially made our government no longer legitimate with their actions (or more accurately, inaction) on the Merrick Garland nomination -- and the country barely noticed.

Autism affects 1 in 68 children
I had no idea it was that high.
I've seen even higher numbers given. I think there is some "discussion" over this number. From what I understand, part of the issue is a varying definition of what conditions should be labelled as Autism.

Two people on the Internet each claiming they've done more IRL. Jeopardy response:

What is worse than a dick measurement contest?

I suspect the recent spike in flat earth talk is the result of NBA player Kyrie Irving stating he believed it. It was a few days (a week?) before he gave any indication he wasn't serious. Shaq jumped on the band wagon, and away we go...

Saw an ad for this film on swing dancing, and while I am not about to take it up, it does look entertaining. I will definitely have to check that out when it hits the movie channels...

To Ford's credit, at least he owned up to it. It would seem like a serious violation, certainly a potential deadly one. Age 74 isn't old for some people, but I'm guessing he should give up his pilot's licence even if it isn't taken away from him.

Hadn't heard about the John Deere thing, went read a couple of articles on it. Makes you wonder if the Demolition Man world of a single restaurant worldwide is something that could actually happen. Aren't you glad corporations are people and can spend as much money on our election process as they want?

Saw this while out and about:

It now officially costs as much as a just-released AAA game for a full transfer (server plus faction) for ONE character, on a very old game with a paid release, half a dozen paid expansions and a monthly sub. Microchaton

Millions of people across the globe are eating "beaver butt" and don't even know that they're consuming such a substance.
Oh goddamn, AZ, I did not need to know that!
It's an exaggeration at best, here is an article on it. First, it is only a gland near the anus, not the anus itself. Second, from the article, "These days, castoreum is primarily used for fragrances, not foods. Its too expensive and cumbersome (and gross) a process to extract. [...] But the chances castoreum is in your food are slim to none."

Wow, that's incredible. When I was in HS, I considered the idea of being an Astronomer. It's really too bad I didn't do that, because the last 50 years have been truly amazing for that field of endeavor.

It doesn't make sense that you can order much higher quality prints from professional online services at a fraction of the cost of printing at home.
I ask this out of almost complete ignorance -- is that really true? I mean I have a color laser I bought for $400 and I have no complaints whatsoever. But then I really don't do a ton of printing. I basically bought it because the previous two $99 printers I bought hadn't lasted very long and I was looking for something a little more sturdy.

As far as the SCOTUS case goes -- is the article saying if the court rules against Lexmark it could weaken existing DRM legislation? That could have interesting repercussions...

Ahh, a little Googling explains your confusion. Found a site listing the best and worst states for real estate taxes and it has Illinois as second worst at 2.38% I'm guessing they are talking about just the "state tax" and not including the local county and city taxes. I'm also guessing there are places worse than my effective 3.23% against real cash value rate.
