As an Apple stock owner I'd officially like to say, as long as the stock continues to roar upward, I couldn't care less.

When was the last time you saw her in anything but a minor supporting role?
The obviously stuff, as you indicated, is playing Pepper Potts in the Iron Man/Avengers movies. I have no idea how much money she would get out of those. I do remember her from Contagion. After that I had to look at IMDB. Just before Shakespeare in Love she did The Perfect Murder, directly after Dogma and The Talented Mr. Ripley all of which may not be all-time classics, but were reasonable films. Since 2000 she has been averaging more than a movie per year, no big hits outside the Marvel movies where she is a minor character. But several movies which I at least I had heard of them (Shallow Hal, The Royal Tenenbaums, Country Strong). *shrug* I guess it is possible she needs more money because she is living the "high life".

*meh* While this is a bell I've rung before at some level they've done better than DN by releasing something in under 10 years. But yeah, overall they seem to be in the same ballpark.

She's only ripping off stupid people
While at some level I agree with this sentiment, it is still a mystery to me why she does it. I assume she doesn't need the money. So, is she a sociopath? Or maybe she is secretly a con artist who gets a high of ripping people off? It is just weird.

What's "Insanely cold?" to you?
I doubt this was directed at me, but I have a moment, so I'll give my answer. First, let me state the obvious by saying the answer to this question is HIGHLY variable from person to person. Also, I'm not sure what "insanely" means in this context. This is how I am going to interpret the question:

How cold does it have to before you postpone a normal activity because it is simply too cold to go outside?

For me, that would be around -20 F. Anything above that isn't particularly tough to dress for, unless you're going to be outside for long periods (say more than an hour).

A road for 20 million people in California doesn't cost 10 times as much as a road for 2 million people in Oklahoma. So this MASSIVELY skews the argument.
Your argument isn't entirely wrong, but your example is terrible. Yeah, the road doesn't cost 10 times as much, but they need 10 times as many roads. Okay, maybe not 10 times as many roads, but a lot more. Not to mention there are no 8 lane highways in Alabama, Wyoming, or many other "red" states. So, there are roads, and there are Roads. States getting more than they contribute in of itself doesn't bother me. The problem is the politics behind those decisions.

Are Republicans kleptos? Take away our healthcare, legal pot, net neutrality, take take take.
I'm pretty neutral about legalization. Never had pot, and if it was legal where I live I highly doubt I would even try it.

Fighting against legalization is especially out of line since most Rs are "State's Rights" activists, which would seem to be the real argument on this issue. But at this point the only thing the GOP is about is tearing apart anything the Obama administration put in place, whether they previously agreed with it or not.

22. Re: ESA Takes on WHO Over Jan 3, 2018, 09:09 Mr. Tact

Moderation in all things.

The difference between whether something -- gaming, working, cleaning, sports, whatever -- is an activity or an addiction is the impact it has on the other parts of a person's life. If you are "obsessed" with the activity to the point it has a detrimental effect on other portions of your life, that's obviously a problem. The fact gaming can rise to that level says nothing about gaming.
