I've heard the true story behind the McDonald's coffee thing before, but it's a great example of how omitting key facts from a story and making some implications can completely turn people's perception of the event and outcome. I was too young to care at the time so I don't remember how the news first reported it, but it certainly became (unfairly) a poster child for frivolous lawsuits that paid out.
Yeah, I didn't know that many details but I was aware that McDonald's had admitted they were making coffee too hot. Kinda makes me glad I stick to iced coffees...

Okay, what I don't see are comparisons to other similar high stress jobs or the general population. I would have guessed 1 in 8 was about what it was for everyone...

Her front teeth are fairly prominent when she is speaking. However as best I can tell when she gives a full smile, the teeth are straight. But no, I was thinking it looks like there's a touch of some non-Anglo ethnic group showing up in her face -- can't figure it out though.

(PS. For the crazies, I really don't care what ethnic groups are in her lineage, I'm simply commenting on her, attractive, appearance)

Definitely attractive. There's something slightly different about her I can't quite put my finger on... She'd certainly would do in a pinch.

Actually, I am steeling myself for an interaction with Comcast...

Wednesday will be two weeks since I changed my service with them -- reducing my TV to a "Limited Basic". I only kept the TV because they offered me a deal to keep my current Internet service and the "Limited Basic" at the current price of my Internet service. The catch being I had to commit to a two year contract. But as of this moment, my on-line account doesn't indicate any change...

Figured I'd give them until Wednesday before I call them again and see if there is a problem or if they really are that slow in getting things updated...

Okay, what I want to know is what did that get him? Since I've never played a game on my phone, I have no idea how this stuff works. Is there a world-wide ranking system and he could/might have bought his way to the #1 ranking or something?

Yep. Makes me happy I was one of those people who had day one problems, and couldn't even launch the game. Refunded by Steam. Best failure I ever experienced.

Haha, just watched a video from a guy I watch occasionally talking about the complaining all the YouTubers are doing. I think he hit the nail on the head.

BTW -- on the topic of YouTubers..

I would encourage anyone who watches a particular YouTuber on a regular basis to support them via Patreon, assuming they are signed up and not in the YouTube top 100 earners. A single dollar once a month is more money to them than hundreds of hours of views assuming you aren't running an ad blocker. I'm currently supporting five people I watch on a semi-regular basis for a total of $9 a month.

While I agree in general with the sentiment, the work required to post quality YouTube videos is generally underestimated. Especially for Let's Play posters who play many hours and edit it down to a palatable 20-30 minute video.

Do not mistake this as a defense for PewDiePie...

Unless we get an unforeseen or at least unexpected scientific discovery/break-thru -- interstellar travel is many centuries away. As far as I know, there's nothing on the the blackboard that gets us anywhere close to it.

10. Off-topic movie review Dec 11, 2016, 09:33 Mr. Tact

Went and saw "Nocturnal Animals" last night. Very disappointing, I'd suggest if you think you are interested, wait for it to hit the movie channels, Amazon Prime, Netflix, whatever. A couple of non spoiler comments:

1. The opening scene is meaningless and something 98+% of the audience would rather not see.

2. You don't (IMHO) get the film indicated in the trailer.

3. One positive, I thought Jake Gyllenhaal gave a good performance. It wasn't enough to save the film.

Nope, I meant computer games. Specifically games available on the University of Illinois computer system PLATO. The precursor to most everything you see on the Internet today -- forums, person to person chat, multi-person interactive games. Basically we were doing that starting in the late 70s and laughed our collective asses off at the "creation" of these things on the Internet.
