I didn't get hat impression, and maybe your monitor is the problem. I thought the game looked way better. The Textures to me popped out and looked so much better then the original WC3.
I've watched the older comparison videos and you can clearly see the difference in that one video of the ground and the NPC textures.

Well, I hope the new games they make will be in the same or similar to NWN style of game play. Dont need any more Turned based games and definitely no Card based games.

Dont write it off so quickly, I was on checking it out last night and the upgraded graphics are absolutely beautiful. I was blown away how good the game looks now.
The new high end textures make everything stand out. Its definitely not the same old looking game it once was.
Now I need some one who wants to play some Coop against the AI.

As a fan of Star Trek -- having seen all the films and TV shows numerous times -- I very much enjoyed Picard. It instantly grabbed my attention and by the end of the episode hooked me. Being the first prime timeline series since Voyager it's awesome to see what has become of the Star Trek world. It felt like returning home.
Its next Generation, so that's a big plus over all that other BS that's out there.
Will be watching the show tonight, but I already know I will like it.
