The graphics update isn't terribly noticeable. Turning on max view distance DESTROYS your framerate, and this is on a 1080. Now, I AM running SSAA 4x, so I'm rendering every frame at well over 4K. *Might* have something to do with it. But it looks WAY better in the close-field areas that way, and I'm not terribly worried about seeing the outline of mountains two zones over.

I doubt the new drivers help much at all, but I'll do some testing.

Question? Why run ssaax4 at 4k resolution? Other than typical anti-aliasing smearing effect and a dip in image quality, why run it at all at 4k? It's a significant performance killer.

I'm not trying to be snarky. Is there something i'm missing here?
One of the benefits of running 4k for me(for the most part)is the ability to finally get rid of anti-aliasing altogether for a nice crisp image without blurred colors etc.

So you're saying running on a 4K monitor, AA is overkill? Just curious, as I do 'not' have a 4K monitor.

I've actually started to wonder about this since I have a 28" 4K Monitor, I've noticed that even with AA off and didn't noticed any jagged edges. Anyone else know if there is actually a difference having AA on or not?

Absolutely no use for a curved monitor. Bought one to try it out and ended up returning it.

Might work for TV's where you sit some distance from the TV, but for a monitor just flat out stupid.

Quote and End Quote!

Enough said, but blues, yes that may be good. But as he said when you have large screens 24 and up. Its going to kill the eyes and neck from having to pan around all the time.

Ill stick with my 28" UHD 4K monitor, its works great.

There's a passage in that Samsung article talking about some sort of lightboost-ish tech. If they can get that working at the same time as free sync... I'd love to see an extensive blurbusters article on this when they get review units.

There is no need for a curved screen monitor for gaming monitors of this size. its a gimmick that servers no purpose to allow you to see the game any better. I've looked at them and I personally cant see any reason for them.

They always try to sell you on the they do it at the movie theater so you can see the screen better. Well, we are not talking about a movie screen the size of a building either. When you are sitting 4 feet away from a monitor, you dont need it to be curved to see the game better.

Yea, instant disappointment, if they had implemented this to the main realm servers, people would be all over it. Blizz, always trying to pull something out of the hat to fool people.

And this is why you don't buy virtual currency.

This game was doomed for the start. Time and money wasted on an online pvp only game, that could have been used to make a newer Coop Ghost Recon game.

IDK, I think to many people are to easily impressed. I really didn't see anything about this that blew me away. To many people are in a hurry to praise what they are seeing, but the reality of it is, hes had 5 years to make this game so far. And this is all he really has to show for? Those of us who originally backed this game are getting very I'm patient with him.

Don't count me among the many who are ready to bow down to him. Everything I've seen here No Mans Sky is already doing.

Steam is The Half Elf and Ubi is Cpt_Ranger
I'd love to get back into the Division.

Granted they have a year to work some things out, and like you said The Division isn't a bad game, but they really did fuck up the DZ and kept making it worse.

Added you Elf, See you online. Maybe some Division? the new underground, I have yet to try out.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWDQqI9JeIE

The guy is a bit of a whiner. He has some valid arguments but also a few that aren't. For example the whole 'bike/chair' thing. The guy is moving forward, switches to aimed 1st person view, is still moving while shooting. Hence why he's closer to the bike. We've been able to aim and move in games for how long now?

Metal Gear Solid isn't an open world. Same in the way that Witcher 3 isn't an open world. It has some very large maps but there is still a transition from mission area to mission area (in MSGV) and the same in Witcher 3 (granted they area huge areas), same also applies for say World of Warcraft (just all in the wording I guess, depends how nitpicky you want to be).

Graphics wise, they game looks good, does it looks OMG awesome?!? No, but typically the bigger the maps the less 'ohhhh shiny!' ya get.

Surprised they aren't using the cover system from The Division. Watching an elite military team crouch down in doorways is painful to watch. Or in the Ubi video how using a non-silenced weapon didn't alert everyone in the compound.
One thing The Division did really well was the AI. It would take cover, use abilities, flank you, etc quite well and I'd love to see it in this game.
All I am seeing is 'easy kill bad guys who don't do shit, and then chase down the target with vehicles'.

The proof will be in the full game when you go after the guy in the church (as shown in the 1st gameplay video) vs what it really is like in the actual game.

Im not going to dog this game out until I've actually seen real game play thats bad or looks like the Division. the Division wasn't a horrible game by any means, it was the DZ that really screwed up everything for many of us.

This game is sporting 4 players Coop. and thats what Im primary interested in. Elf, I know I will be getting the game so if you do, lets get some Coop going. I need to get you added to my steam fiends list.

I think to many are jumping to conclusions here about the game, and seeing that its UBI so thats understandable, but im still a wait and see before I go bashing the game.

Never had that problem and I installed this already, smooth sailing as usual. Less than a handful of minor problems in the entirety of time I've used Nvidia cards but love these driver threads that always seem to repeat themselves hahaha.

Come on Verno, even you cant deny that a few driver versions ago there was a big problem with the drivers that had to be reverted. Nvidia even came out and admitted to that one. Im not one for dogging out Nvidia because I love there cards and drivers, but even NVidia has had their issues at times.

Wonder if these drivers will make any difference for NMS performance.

In the introduction. these drivers provide an optimal experience for No Manís Sky, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Obduction, F1 2016, and the Open Beta for Paragon.
Yes I saw that, that's why I said I wonder if the driver will make any actual performance difference.

Nvidia likes to list a bunch of games in their driver release to get people excited but that doesn't always means those games will actually perform any better.

Perfectly stated. I am of the mind these days to sit and wait. I've been burned in the past by so called newer drivers that are better, when in reality they are not always better.

How about making the universe more interesting and alive with things to do rather then endlessly crafting and refilling your hazard suit and mining tools with power? You devs are making the game boring and monotonous because we have to concentrate on surviving rather then exploring and actually enjoying the game.

And how about mouse support in the Galactic map? The controller ported bullshit trying and maneuver around from system to system is so fucking annoying.

I've spent over 12 hours just on the 3 planets in my starting system. (31 exo slots now and saving up for a 2.1 mill ship before I warp out).
It is a survival game from the get go. Even with the 4 videos they showed you pretty much everything that could be done. Mine, Survive, Fight and Trade.

Hi Elf, I dont mind trying to survive, its just they have your power running out way to fast or having always screwing with your equipment and caring for it a bit to much for my liking. When devs do this, its puts far to much emphasis on micromanaging rather then playing the game end enjoying it. This is the aspect of the game I dont care for.

It seems like every 10 mins I have to re-power my Suit. kind of lame. it would be so bad if this only happened like once per hour of even 30 to 45 mins. but not every 10 mins.
