I think that in this case, you're much better off not going and streaming the presentations from home. There's going to be way too many people, making it painful to move around and you'll have to stay in line for 8 hours just to play a single game.

Yea, that pretty well sums up last year. They are letting to many people in, its taking away from the experience and getting one on one time with the developers.

It kills me that his game being a competitive game does not have VAC enabled in it. But a game like Sword Coast Legends that has no competitive multiplayer at all has VAC and killed the game because everyone was afraid to try and mod the game for fear of being VAC banned. Someone explain the logic in that!

Lets not boast to much about Samsung, they are only the biggest chip maker because of phones. Intel does not do phones or they would be leading forever.

If a streamer isnít making money off of their broadcast, itíd be a different story. But the bigger streamers make ridiculous money. If half of what they made for a particular video went to the developers, well, thatíd probably solve any worries development houses have. Havenít heard of any streamers sending money to the companies whose games they play, though.

You're forgetting that streamers basically provide free advertising. Publishers and developers will give streamers free copies of their games in order to take advantage of that. Some publishers and developers will even pay streamers to play their games.

If someone is willing to watch an entire single-player, story-driven game playthrough on Twitch or Youtube, they probably weren't going to spend $60 on it anyway. In other cases, the viewer might watch a few hours of it and then decide "Hey, this game actually looks pretty cool. I think I'll pick it up!"

This same argument could be made over piracy too. Its a well known fact that people who pirate games and movies are the same ones that would have never bought or paid to watch that movie to begin with.

Its well known that streamers are driving up sales of games. yes, some will sit and possibly watch them play from start to end, but those types of people never intended to buy the game anyway.

Those are not lost sales if a persons was never going to buy it to begin with.

And as someone pointed out, just because you lose 100 sales, in the end they have far out gained more sales with those 500 who were not going to buy the game until they watched it streamed and then decided to buy it.

Neither do you.

A single anecdote about a single product does not demonstrate objective market behaviour.

No, I happen to very knowable about this and know a lot of steamers personaly that do this for a living.

So, yes. I do know!!!

Iím a bit split on this:

For single player, story-driven games, they can be devastating to sales. Why buy an adventure game when you can watch the story, and avoid the downtime of dying or getting narratively ďstuckĒ?

To make matters less altruistic, keep in mind that some streamers make shocking amounts of money, and their video content is almost entirely provided by the games they play. The people who MADE that content should be getting a cut of that, especially when itís a single player game where the video undoubtedtly cannibalizes sales.

The excuse of ďbut I never would have paid to play that gameĒ is a weak one...yes you would, the price just hadnít dropped to your tipping point yet. But if you watch a play through of it, thereís no incentive for you to EVER purchase the game. Again, this assumes single player, story-driven.

You gotta be kidding me with this dribble right? Your seriously going to sit there and call out streamers for steaming SP content?

Get over it, many people just like to watch gamers play the games. There is nothing wrong with that. Nor should anyone come down on these guys for it.

There are a lot of people out there that are unable to play many of these games for whatever reasons. If they choose to watch someone play a game, they more power to them.

But dont sit there and say this is wrong, when its not. Your basically calling those who watch streamer pirates. And thats bullshit.

And by the way, many of these people who watch these streams are also gauging the game like a demo to see if its even worth a shit to buy. You are completely delusional about your view about this. As for the NFL comment, theirs a big difference when your re-broad casting a TV show or sports event.

In the end, streaming sites like twitch and YouTube will automatically collect a portion of the money earned from advertising/donations and send it to the publisher/developer of whatever title is featured. Itíll take a few years for it to all get ironed out, but thatís how this ends. IMO, thatíd only be the proper way to do it for single player story games. For multiplayer games, the streamer could probably bargain for all income generated, depending on their exposure.

Again, you are delusional, you clearly dont have a fricking clue about what your talking about. Your just interjecting your opinion about this. You have no facts to back your opinion.

Just because a main steam streamer is making a lot of many is not causing games to loose sales, in fact this kind of stuff has been proven over and over that sales are increased by this. They are getting the word out the about the game good or bad. And Most all developers support live steaming.

In the end, this is all free advertisement for the game.

Ill give you an example of this, just this past weekend Sea of Thieves beta released. it got a lot of live steaming attention. Many were very curious about the game and what it was all about.

The beta got extended because of the new hype surrounding the game and sales were also driven up because of it. This is what steamer bring to the table each and every time they go live.

They are going to fuck up the Denuvo so badly with so many layers of DRM that its going to cause really bad performance issues. There is no way you layer several a DRM like this and not have some kind of performance issue.

Honestly, I really hope this game fails. The devs were told over and over on the forums about making this game playable both ways. pvp and PVE in separate instances for those who like to play it on both sides. The devs are choosing to thumb their noses at the PVE community. So, I'm hoping this game gets all kinds of bad reviews so it forces the devs to make those changes.

What they really mean is that they have designed the game is such a way that the online requirement is there to try and keep people from hacking the games currency.

I dont understand why every damn game has to be micro transactioned to death. Its like you cant even buy a game anymore without this bullshit raising its ugly head up.

Yea, this one is a real bitch. Bungie screwed over everyone with this bullshit. You can Speed run one of the hidden sectors in less then 3 mins. But with the new 10 min cool down its fucks you over so you cant speed run these areas. They could at least set the cool down to 5 mins. That would fix the issue.

I dont understand how they mange to keep fucking up so much. Its not like getting the faction tokens is a game breaking deal.

This exploit was only in one Lost Sector in the EDZ, all Bungie had to do to fix this bullshit was to make it so once you left the area the door would not reopen to allow you to backtrack. Bunch of idiots at Bungie.
