LOL..AHAHAHA..Consoles dont need cheat protections? BWAHAHAAHAH... And I bet you don't think those mod chips actually work too huh?

People hack console games just as they hack PC games. People cheat console games just as they do PC games.

And I think you guys throw ports around to lightly. The art accross the board is the same, with the PS2 and possible xbox versions using slightly downsampled textures and reduced poly models. Some code between the pc, xbox360, and Xbox are shared, but alot of it is seperate too. For one, I am fairly certain neither Xboxs use directX. Also multi player is quite a bit different, the the PC using user servers and user software, while the xbox's connect to Xbox LIVE and its servers only.

The PS2 uses vastly different code of course being totaly different architecture.

A capacitor does not need to short to blow up, it happens all the time, usualy when it is being run higher then its spec (or it is of bad quality).

Zath, I call shinanigans, you could do your worst to a parallel port and not harm your hard drive, Theres really nothing you can send down the ide cable that will instantly trash your HD unless its like a well formed command to format the boot record, or raw power.

Also I googled the pin diagram of parallel and see no power leads.

Bulging capacitors, hah, is that what they call it when it blows up? Well guess what, a capacitor blowing has a fair chance of taking everything connected with it. If its on the mobo and not the power supply, then that generaly just means your cpu, memory, and possibly your expansions cards. It also leaves a nice scorch mark on the case sideing and mobo. ^^

I can't belive people are actually complainig blood elves are horde. I mean..first.. WC3 sucked.. it isn't even a real rpg. WoW contains a buttload more compleate lore and timelines then wc3 can shake a stick at. So if ANYONE has a right to write new lore, it is WoW.

Second, Alliance has night elves, I think MORE people would complain if we got blood elves, "oh gee big whoop.. we get ANOTHER elven race.. heck its even the same model.. and look at horde, they get something totaly new!", I sure as hell would!.

A new race is just fine.. kunark was one of the best expansions for eq and it only featured an added race, no new classes.

I think this expansions look bad ass, and am very excited, though blizzard has a track record of letting people down too, I doubt everything will come out as planned.

Significant abuse of headlines for insignificant articles. As you can see, the worse thing that happened was they lapsed on the paper work to extend their tapping operations. So far, atleast as far as reports go, no "abuse" has actually happened, that is the act has not effected anyone in a way it shouldn't have.

releases like the gizmondo make me shed a tear as to just how far "worst ideas in the history of man" can make it in a company. I mean... for the love of god how does something like this make it to market, and at that price, and NOT be some internal scam? Alot of people are either too stupid to live, or got paid ALOT of money to shut up.

Well zath pretty much said everything I was going to.

Btw Blizzard isn't the only one. PunkBuster is also a "warden" program that scans all system processes matching hash's it generates to a list of known hashs from known cheating programs.

And if a hash is matched.. it only sends back that hash.

Imo, it seems like a few of these "news" postings like eff.org are actually from hackers and goldfarmers themselves in attempt to get blizzard to stop. Not to long ago a news report like this with wording that made the warden "sound" invasive was discovered to be written by someone with links to ige.com

So sad when people who warez the game get the upper hand. Atleast if I downloaded the game I could burn it to a single dvd WITH the first patch. You see..what happens many months or a year down the road, and the game isn't installed anymore? Now if I want to install it I need online broadband access to download the patch, otherwise I could very well be stuck with game criticle bugs. No longer are games "safe" out of the box.

Imo, if jack asses wanna release buggy games and count on the patch on the day of release to fix things, they should have the descency to ship the games with the first patch on a cd included in the box. They would need to wrap up the patch a week or so before shipping, but pressing cd's in todays age is stupidly cheap and fast.

After all, shreks stunning motion captured moves make it a shoe in for mortal combat style gameplay.

/I still cringe when I think about that fight scene in the first shrek.

crest, uhmm, idiot, they did rewrite it. A couple months after doom3, they released a Cat version with the improved code. Heck they even released a beta of it before hand. It seemed to bring it "up to" the speed of nvidia cards, maybe one card like the 9800xt I think pulled ahead a little.

Correction.. Microsofts DVD-ROM may be one play..using DRM. DRM is not applicable to mpeg2 nore supported by any dvd players.

GG

Jim, not at all. The data is allready made, pressing more cd's of a different format is really a small cost when you consider the profit. Of course your profits won't be as BIG.. but better to have some then none.

Anyone find it ironic the headline chosen is "Irth Online Dated", cause damn, looking at those screen shots, it couldn't be any more right.

Wow Q4 is done? I havnt seen a DAMN thing in hype for it for sure. No previews.. no orgasmic screen shots.

I'm a little excited.. but if its like Q3 in that its death match oriented.. if it dosnt have the play modes of Unreal 2004..why bother?

I baught Q3 and the crisp textures and curved surfaces were nice.. but DM only keeps me occupied for so long. On the other hand I still play 2004. Tons of maps.. playmodes.. mutators.. and it still looks good!

I dont get it. Since when does a cpu have any impact on what special graphic effects are in a game? From looking at the screen shots.. they are telling me "32 bit cpus cant do particles, shader light reflections, and light bloom". HAH..Even the crapiest 3d engines today are doing all 3 of those on 32 bit cpus.

beaves, wasnt even remotly the point. The point is your unique named boss fights, usualy the hardest fights, should never be droping loot not worthy of the encounter. If a game does not balance risk vs reward, it will NEVER be worth it.

ColoradoHoudini , as someone mentioned, the game never saves your location, it saves you progress, what youve unlocked..what gear youve collected.. your skill and experience points. Any time you restart the game, you will allways appear at the closest cities teleporter.
