Honestly, the whole horse-armor thing is so incredibly repulsive it's turned me off from the game.

I probably won't get it, now.

Companies like that don't deserve my support.

Too bad Tim Buckly went nuts and threw everyone out of his WoW guild, without cause or provocation. I lost all respect for him after that. His comic is also a lot less funier than it was.

It's not that bad. I changed my PC from DHCP to static, so I no longer need to mess with my router's forwarding tables. I download it on my PC, then the patch is just a standard .exe file in the WoW directory. I copy it to my other PCs and they're good to go!

Really, it's not bad. It took me 2-3 mins to dload the 4MB update, but it also only took 10-15 mins to dload the 50MB update. /shrug

2 level 60s and a level 40. Still having fun. Not as much as I used to, granted... But still. There is plenty to do at 60. Raiding high-end instances is fun. Granted, after 2-3 months is does get old. But I've still never set foot in MC, let alone BWL. I also play CoH on the side, as well as single player games like KoTOR2. Remember, $/hour of entertainment, MMORPGs are some of the cheapest forms of entertainment available.

Sales of this are undoubtedly going to suffer. While it may be a great game, it can't compete with other titles released this month.

RTS lends itself perfectly to Star Wars

Yeah, man, I remember in ESB how there was a good 20 minutes dedicated to the Empire building up their base in preperation for the Hoth attack, that was awesome!

You do realize that the only thing both game have in common are the universe. Sure, some concept art and such might have been shared between both project, but that's pretty much it. You don't develop a MMORPG from a RTS' code.

Um, duh?

I was referring to SC2 being, essentially, a TC of WC3. Not WoW being a TC of WC3. That would be dumb.

I know a thing or two about MMOGs.

If they're not making Diablo 3, it's because the entire creative force of Blizzard North split to make their own company: http://www.flagshipstudios.com/

Yes, they did. Doesn't mean Blizzard can't or shouldn't make Diablo 3 without them.

Rumor is, they left because Blizzard wanted them to dumb it down for consoles, and they didn't want to do that. /shrug.

"What? How do you figure? Blizzard is made of 3 teams. One team on WoW, another that did WarCraft 3/Frozen Throne (so, they've been free for a year, this is the team that would make SC2)"

Doesn't take a whole to team to develop, what is essentially, a TC to WC3. (Far more so a TC than that guy who keeps referring to WoW as a TC of EQ... yeah... you're clearly not in the market for this kind of game... just move along.) One of the guys working on Ghost let slip Blizzard was working on SC2 during... the 2003 E3, I think it was.

I had not heard that they weren't making "Diablo 3"... which sounds kinda dumb that they wouldn't continue the isometric action RPG theme.

"So, WoW has no affect on whether or not they make StarCraft 2. And they could already be a year into development on SC2."

Blizzard is working on 2 projects right now. WoW and Starcraft: Ghost, which is actually being developed out of hourse. Therefore, you have 2 teams who haven't had a release in YEARS.

I'm guessing Starcraft 2 is 80%+ done. They started initial development on this before they had the WC3 engine finalized. I'm thinking they've been working on it for 4+ years.

"Diablo 3" is 60%+ done. They've been working on this one for 3+ years.

We'll see SC2 in 2005 and "Diablo 3" in 2006. SC2 will probably slide to 2006, given Blizzard's history. Both might be "dumbed down" for simultaneous Console releases. ><

Yes, we're LONG OVERDUE for an announcement from Blizzard.

"I still haven't beat the game yet. The game makes me kind of tense so I'm only able to play one exit at a time. I'm almost through it, though. Right now I'm kind of forcing myself."

That's EXACTLY how I feel! Except, I'm no longer forcing myself to play it. I hope to finish it someday, though.

"I actually enjoyed the original PC Axis & Allies when playing against a human. The RTS version looks absolutely awful."

Agreed. I'm a huge A&A fan, I still play the PC game on occasion. The producers have taken a game that's loved for what it is, and transformed it into something else. It reminds me of the failed Interplay game, "Fallout : Brotherhood of Steel." Fans wanted Fallout 3. Instead, Interplay delivered something completely different but with "mass market appeal" and failed miserably.

I hope the A&A RTS does the same. The producers need to learn yet another lesson. This is not the game A&A fans want.
